Dr. P.I Uba,
Governor to be
Anambra State
Nigeria

Dear Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Uba

Election Rigging Menace

I am one of your ardent supporters and wishes to draw your argent attention to some ways some opponents might rig elections in developing countries like Nigeria

1. Over registration of voters card lists
Opponents may over register voters card lists at polling booths and word levels, with fake names of people who are not even living there. They may do this so that when the actual numbers of people’s names who registered at each polling booth finish voting, the remaining fake names might be thump printed in favour of a particular candidate. When this type of thing happens, rigging has taken place.
Party Agents must see to it that only physically standing registered people would be allowed to vote, and remaining fake names on the lists cancelled.

2. Private Home voting
It was alleged that during the previous elections opponents in some states of Nigeria, did resort to this
method of voting. This means that opponent may stay in one place and write the entire results of an election.
This is a serious issue. They may buy original result sheets and write results which some corrupt electoral officers may sign and endorse.
Scrutiny on movements of election materials is essential before the election starts.

3. Election violence
When there is violence at a place where one candidate would get the majority of the votes cast, the election might be rigged already; hence people will run for their lives and would not vote.
When violence occurs, manipulations of rigging might come in. Extra miles must be sort to provide security to dismantle tugs, arrest and detentions, harassments of your party Agent throughout the elections.

4. Fake Election materials
If fake or photocopied materials are distributed by opponents for the conduct of the elections at a place a particular candidate would do well, then the election results are rigged. Pre-arranged results for that area may be provided by opponents to replace the results entered on the fake materials. It was alleged that this happened at previous elections in Nigeria.
Efforts to see the original election materials before hand must be taken into consideration.

5. Election Conducts running into Nights
When voting materials / officials arrive late at a particular area, rigging agenda might be in the plot. If Night voting occurs, extra care should be taken to see that manipulation and stealing of your votes can not succeed.
The way out might be to complain officially so that the conduct of that area election may be cancelled.

6. Sudden Result Radio Announcement
When opponents succeed in manipulating the entire results of an election, they may rush to Radio House to announce their candidate as a winner. When this happens, the rigging menace has taken place and the only remedy may be Court litigations, which might not be concluded till the incumbent tenure of office expires.

Great care should be employed so that all kinds of rigging should be prevented.
The above points would go far in safeguarding your votes. There are other special ways to be discussed, if I am contacted, as every thing should be put on paper.

  9. Biko left for me, I will go for Ngige. If not for that man, we won't be able to enter both my father's and mother's village by now. He constructed good roads and bridges for us. What previous government failed to do despite the fact that my village can be sited from the so called governors lodge. Mbadinuju once refered to our road as a road leading to farmland! (Ewu like him) I hope Ngige wins so he can complete the great work he started (that is if he doesn't change and become greedy like the rest,*rme*).

I also hope that when he wins, he will remember Anambra West, I didn't know some places still have no electricity till I went to that place. They also need good roads. Those prople are farmers who produce the bulk of yams and other food items people enjoy in Anambra and beyond yet they have never enjoyed anything from the government, despite having one of their sons as an ex deputy governor. Very sad... Ngige please remember them when you win. Thank you and God bless you.

  18. It's cos of pple like this Mr Onah that Nigeria will forever be under bad leadership!
Of all the intending candidates, its Ifeanyi uba who is d definition of corruption',and most all a serial debtor he chooses to support cos he needs a job.
Ifeanyi will first use the state's allocation for the 3yrs to offset his debts home and abroad, then loot the remaining funds for the 4th yr,the pple's situation will only go from bad to worse under that. Regime.but here is a die hard fan' willing to eat his tomorrow today cos of job!smh
Naija all of us are the problem!we and our leaders are d same!
    May God have mercy!
