Nigeria Signs BASA Agreement With Israel

Nigeria yesterday finally signed the Bilateral Air Services Agreement with Nigeria’s embattled Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah in attendance, however the final document was signed by Nigeria’s acting minister of foreign affairs, Viola Onwuliri, who signed on behalf of Nigeria.

In a State House photo sent out by presidential spokesperson Reuben Abati, Mrs. Onwuliri is seen signing the BASA agreement with the Deputy Israeli Foreign Minister, Mr Zeer Elkin, in a ceremony at the David Citadel Hotel in Jerusalem.

The presidential spokesperson in an attempt to hoodwink the media, did not state whether the embattled Minister of Aviation was in the gathering, however, Saharareporters gathered that Mrs. Oduah, the minister of Agriculture, Dr. Akinwunmi Adesina and that of works, Minister of Works Arc. Mike Onolememen were also in attendance at the ceremony.

  5. Onwuliru lost her husband in the Dana air crash so I'm sure she would have felt other people's pain who lost their loved ones too to see that this woman of aviation is put in her right place.

  6. BASA means Bilateral Air Service Agreement. it is an Agreement that two nations sign to allow international commercial air transport services between their territories. by doing this, you can get direct flights from Nigeria to any country that has signed BASA with Nigeria. both countries involved in the Agreement will then Designate Airlines that will fly on behalf of their countries. In Nigeria, since we dont have a national carrier since Nigeria Airways(in Liquidation) Arik Airways is in most cases the airline designated on behalf of Nigeria. ( hope this helped)
