Redeemers University Gives Final Year Students Extra Year For Not Attending Church For One Sunday!

Let me start by introducing RUN ........Redeemers University of Nigeria.
At RUN,they pay half a million every year for school fees.... a fee that most church members cannot even afford and some of the students who are there, their parents struggle to make sure their kids get the best of the four years they spend their, students in other Universities are rendered redundant because of the ASUU issue blah blah... ..so RUN it is for the majority.

Info reaching me indicates that a female student amongst others is/are to be punished by being sent to rehab because she/they missed going to church on Sunday!

Rehab at RUN is a place where the offender will go for six months without attending classes and the full school fees will STILL be paid, after the offender is done, he/she will repeat the class and pay another fees. …Lobatan!

Personally i feel this is a RIP OFF. but i asked a question " why did these student not attend church"?
The answer i got was simple!
'' they all have very genuine reasons, the girl came up with menstrual pain that morning and couldn't make it. now Stella the girl in question is a final year student who her parents are very glad that the struggle of half a million per term is over. only for them to be told they will have extra year at the university . which means extra 500k which is separate from all the pocket money and other fees which when calculated in totality come up to N1m- N1.5m ''

i feel this is very unfair for a school that preaches CHRISTIANITY. these students where not caught with drugs, porn, or having sex etc, their only crime was that they did not attend church. now the question is, does the punishment fit the crime?

Is Pastor Adeboye aware of all these sanctions being carried out in his premises and is he  party to it? Because it is alleged that the lecturers and the CSO of the school 'CLAIM" these instructions come from him.  This is just a few amongst many other stories that happen in that premises that need to be brought to the forefront.

According to info reaching me,the idea to send these students to Rehab allegedly came up today and the affected students were informed today to wait till next week Monday to get the final verdict on their cases.

Please somebody should get this to the attention of Pastor Adeboye,I am sure he has no idea of what is going on at RUN....This is so unfair!

  1. I have been thinking if this year I should just stay at home and pray and praise God every Sunday, and give my tithes to the poor cos what is happening in the so called Houses of God and these schools that are owned by Men of God is so sad,am really thinking I attend churches, the eye services done in churches are terrible,i just feel like staying at home these days

    8. @diamondblingz dunno about Reedeemers uni but I finished from Babcock uni and we all had worship cards which would be given at d entrance of the church by your PA either on Sabbath day, midweek services or hall worships. The cards would be returned to the PA after service nd then d PA hands it over to the hall mistress. If that day is blank that means you were absent thus leading to disciplinary action but throughout my stay in BU didn't hear of people getting an extra year cuz of Sabbath worship. Plus me I dey like Sabbath cuz of the lunch: Rice, tofu nd tofu sauce, drink and cake.....*winks *

  8. This is an allegation. Stella, as a seasoned journalist, u should have called the school to verify. No offender ever admits wrong doing. I love you sdk but don't let them feed you lies.

    1. Exactly. Perhaps the student in question failed and is looking for how to cover up. Besides they didn't force anyone to join, go to a public uni or stay at home if u do not want to abide by their rules and regulations. That they are a body of Christ uni doesn't mean that they ate exempt from giving stringent rules to better the lives of our youth. They should face thier studies and graduate, then they can do whatever the choose outside school. Attending church in Sunday is one of the criteria they signed up to do. And u doubt the authenticity of this story...missing one Sunday of church will not result to an extra year.

    2. Mrs Zulu God Bless U for this comment! Oh now Stella you have extra extra fallen my hand your report says *hear say* did you can the PRO or VC or student affairs or Chaplin to confirm your story! Tru out my stay in RUN there was nothing like Rehab and if there's something like that it's obviously meant for students that have committed serious offences and instead of nbeing expelled like before they are sent there just like bowen uni which is more better! For thatt student I am very sure. Sshe has commiTed more offences. There are chances they give if she was given extra itt means she has missed attendance more than 3 or 4times so confirm Stella! RUN is not meant for kids that don't keep to d rules if you can't bare the heat get out of the kitchen itss not a do or die affair! I am an Alumni and am proud off iit and if I had an Opportunity again I wil goo back there! If you know your parents will pay 500k it's better you sit your Ass DOWN read your books n Obey the school Rules it's as simple as ABC Abeg!No body shd Comme here judging! I had menstrual pains which as usu. I got d "pain relievers". Several years down d line it turned out the pains was Stage 4 endometriosis resulting in d loss of one of my fallopian tubes and ovaries. So my dear Poster, its really sad you have to repeat a year but I think you should fight for your rights and have the pain checked out.

Back to the matter! I pity the students but that punishment is too much 4 d offence abeg (ori bibe ko l'ogun ori fifo)- u don't because u have headache, cut down ur head. They are trying to show us that they are disciplined but the students under the so called disciplined atmosphere are worse than those in the free atmosphere(state/fed uni's). My brother is in one and I'm always marvelled when he comes home and tell me stuffs they do and that the authority can never know about it.
So,Pastor Adeboye should please soften his disciplinary rules biko and see to the issue of these students in question.

  23. This is not just right! I lived in redemption camp for a while and i can honestly tell you that pastor Adeboye does not have any idea of most of the things that go on there....he his too bussy. Most of the people incharge of affairs there are corrupt, hypocrates, and lack the fear of GOD. Most of them abuse their offices by using it to enrich themselves, they see the church like it is their own personal property, most especially those from Osun State-Ifewara precisely; the home town of the G.O.
Just last year Bethel place/heritage home, a place for the homeless, fatherless, motherless....was shut down just because one girl became pregnant, and those incharge claimed the order was from the wife of the General overseer. It was later discovered that it were all lies. Once you are not a yoruba person, your chances of getting a job in Redemption camp is very little......you must know one assistant general overseer or the camp manager or the secretary to the mother in israel or the monitoring officer..........(i just feel like calling out the bad eggs). The amount they pay as school fees in RUN, RHS and CRNPS is nothing compared to what other private schools pay. Infact in RHS over 65% of the student are on scholarship mostly missionaries/pastors children who are far away doing God's work and church members who their children passed the common entrace examination but can not cater for their children school fees. I am sure this will never happen.....hopefully Lake, one of the G.O sons who i know reads blogs finds this.

  31. To think I passed through the walls of this same University, gave some bullies in authority hell, but made it out in one piece because I made sure if I had to fight them, my hands were clean. It's sad to see that a lot hasn't changed since then. I will NEVER advice anyone to attend private uni's in Nigeria because aside the ridiculous names most of them bear, they are frigging expensive, not up to standard and at the end of the day, you graduate early and join the ever teeming population of job seekers in the country; except your folks have connections enough to place you somewhere. The graduates from Govt owned uni's who have been battered by strike actions still graduate to meet them in the job market "unoccupied" so what's the use?
As for this case, Stella I can bet you the GO has no knowledge of it. He has granted pardon to people who did worse things in time past. E.g the guy and girl he caught screwing in one of the church buses while he was on his prayer walk. Truth is, 95% of "church workers" in that camp are no different from Nigeria's thieving politicians. They cut corners anyhow, use inferior materials for building cos they know you don't have a choice to contract construction companies from outside the camp. They have this annoying holier than thou attitude and gossip each other a lot. It's just too disgusting to comprehend. Please I'm done talking.

The rules were tough but I tried to comply with many and the times I defaulted, I tried not to get caught. For the girl that was having M.P now, I am quite sure that if she had gotten a permission or gone to excuse herself from the service now, she wouldnt be in trouble. Its sad sha, I hope they let her off. For the other people still in private uni's please comply and when u disobey the rules, at least be smart enough not to get caught.

  47. I want to a private university and the truth is the rules are unfair but to be honest we were all given the terms and conditions/rules and regulation most of us just never thought or think it would be taken seriously.the bitter truth is if you accept/agree then when you default the punishment should be served.RUN school fees is even cheaper than most private university and this excuse of menstrual pain is so common that even as a girl its irritating to hear so its never taken seriously its been abused, also people think they can get away with anything in their final year so they retaliate by showing them they cant.I feel her pain and im really sad for her but final year in private uni you have to be very careful some are expelled sef.RUN is better, convenant and babcock if you people hear the rules and penalties.but I never for one day regret going to a private uni, academically it was good and smooth.

  49. Aunty Stella I was a product of the school albeit luckily. We went through fire and brimstone before we could graduate. It was a battle with lecturers, CSO (that sadist) and the Student Affairs Officer (another sadist). Both of them will conspire to make life unbearable for you. Imagine the Student Affairs Officer be telling a student that "he won't graduate."
Well, I thank God I graduated upon all their tricks and delay, I came out. So I don't care anymore what goes on in the school. The G.O is a very laid back person. Truth be told, it doesn't concern him. He is only a Visitor to the University. It's just like asking President Jonathan who is a Visitor to most Federal universities to intervene in any internal affair of the university. If you can't abide by the rules and regulations of these so called private christian universities, then find your way to UNILAG, Akoka or UNIPORT, Choba or UNIBEN, Ugbowo. #Nuffsaid

  51. This is a big lie Stella. This isn't true. My sis attends RUN and my best friend is a graduate from RUN. And there is no such thing as a rehabilitation centre. No student can be suspended for not attending Sunday service because of a good reason. They do not pay per semester. It's yearly. And the school is one of the best private university in Nigeria. Next time get your facts right before posting

Stella, u ve only heard from a side which is the offender's(which is usually watered down stories, sounding like they didn't really do anything wrong). Rules and regulations are given before u accept admission. Accepting admission therefore means u r ready to abide by all rules. By d way, there's penalty4 nt going to church but its most denfinitely nt an extra year(that's ridiculous). Stella luv ur blog but pls try2confirm tins wella. Bless u

  56. You all do not realize why people absolutely hate to invest in Naija and when they do it is done shoddily. Our people hate to follow rules and lack a maintenance culture. Leaders are not the issue, it is people collectively. You signed a document before attending an institution and they have rules, follow them or go
elsewhere na. I did not attend a private school at home but do you all know what it costs to run a University in that country? What do you think ASUU was demanding millions and millions for, it is to at least upgrade the schools to the level of our neighbors (let's not even say world class o). Haba graduates are on this website, and some of you are business men and women; to start an institution...there are loan facilities etc. Have you thought that maybe these schools tap into those facilities for funding. There are grants, gifts from people and other organizations as well. You all should please, have discourse but think before typing. Some of these comments are highly embarrassing.

I am not a member of Redeemed Christian Church but they have filled a gap that our government has failed to fill. They are a Church yes but your tithes can not run a school, let us just be real here. It can not. Let us learn accountability as a people, let us learn to stick to rules and regulations, let us also learn to question things we hear before making bogus statements. If someone's rights were abused ehen but in this case (which I know has more to it), no investigation has been done. In the World over, private unis owned by any institution are expensive. If Naija government was not the way it is, these schools could open cheaper alternatives that can be subsidized by Government funding but we all know the bottlenecks that will kill that idea. God bless whoever is trying to give our youth a chance at education because the State and Federal schools are failing us massively.

  58. i can tell you there is a place called Rehab, its in edeh not the school compound and all you do there is go to church and attend bble classes, see the point here is does the punishment fit the crime. How many of us really read our terms and conditions of anything. for me i just feel there are other ways of punishing a student which doesnt involve making their parents lives miserable. like the writter said they were not caught doing drugs, porn or having sex, so why this kind of punishment. @ Berach what year did you graduate ? because REHAB is for real

    ReplyDelete
  59. menstrual pain or not, this is not nice, how can u give extra year cos of church? c'mon money is not plucked from the trees now? what happened to cleaning the church till you graduate, or becoming an usher in church? there are many many many ways to punish this kids. do you know what extra year is especially when you did not fail? it can be traumatising, apart from the fees the person involved will go through hell. if this story is true then they really need to take a chill pill and not spoil the reputation of the Redeemed church.

Or is it the rat-race,nepotism,tribalism,mediocrity,hypocrisy,eyeservice... Dey all want to be General Overseer! Smh! D more u look the less u see and comprehend. 69. Clearly a scam by scumbag admins to extort money from students. Solution: quit now and demand a refund for remaining tuition. If they refuse, grab the SOB in charge of the scam by his throat and beat his ugly face to a bloody pulp and finish off with a knee thrust to the testicles several times. That'll teach that gangsta some decency.

  70. you guys should think first, his the man bill gates, or one of the richest man in the world, yes they give tithes and offerings in the church, but is it 50000 you would pay a professor for teaching the students, how many teaching and non teaching stafss do they have, other expenses for the students nko, and expenses for maintaining the school, it is not an easy thing, you think because you see them on tv, they are very rich and have no problem but just know that its not every smile that is real, he has his family, runs a school which is more than a million naira, and for the girl, sorry that punishment is really strict sha, shes the one that chose the school, as for me i prefer cu to other schools even though there rules are strict

  72. OK you guys..i am a student of RUN and to the best of my knowledge, you do not just get expelled for missing church service once! There are procedures like you must have offended the school so many times before you get expelled, not to mention that you will be given warning. So Stella yo better check well before you start to post stories.Furthermore, about the rehab ish..well the so-called rehab is called cadam and it is not a rehab, it is mainly for those who have extreme issues like kleptomania, drugs and other addictions..then to all those who are calling names to people and talking about the real ownership of the school, hmm well i do not know o but please do not be hasty in calling people names because you don't know who God is really backing up..about the fees, like most people have said, nobody forced you to send your child there and you must have known the fees and rules before going ther so why complain??and by the way if you discipline your child well at home and trained them in the way of the lord, they won't have any issue obeying the school rules or better still they could have survived well in a state or federal university!who knows? maybe your child is a bad kid that's why you had to send him/her to a private school for some discipline considering the fact that you have so far failed in your duty as a parent! Finally, do you realize that private schools calendar are actually very organized?? i do not know for other private schools but in RUN on your matric day you will be given your convocation date which is always followed ! now tell me, over the years which federal or state school that can boast of this? so please do not make it look as though one of the major problems of the world is not self-control and indiscipline which RUN intends to remedy!!!#carry on
