THE NIGERIAN IMMIGRATION SERVICE NEEDS TO BE PROBED!

Pictures from the immigration aptitude test at National stadium, surulere, Lagos..
The applicants later barricaded the busy Ojuelegba - stadium road for hours preventing vehicular movement to protest the abysmal and improper conduct of the test by NIS.

The people who sold out these forms knew how many people would be at each venue but yet they did not make provision for emergencies, knowing fully well that Nigeria does not have the equipment to handle such mammoth crowd
Lives wasted after so much suffering....people paid one thousand naira to get killed?

The Federal Government should look into this because this is daylight robbery.some people have made millions from this exercise and they need to be brought to book.....WHY IN HEAVENS NAME SHOULD PEOPLE BE MADE TO PAY MONEY TO TAKE AN APTITUDE TEST?..from the crowd in each state, over N100million must have been realised...THIEVES!
ANIMALS IN HUMAN SKIN!....yes i said it!

I expect something to be done to address this issue, whoever sweeps this under the carpet will hear from God!

LAGOS

ABUJA

Stella,I was in Abuja stadium yesterday for the NIS exam, we got there around 7am, had to trek through bush path to assess the stadium because the officers refused to open the entrance gates, people were jumping the metal fence and gates. We were left un-attended to and peeps started catching fun out of the terrible situation by playing football on the pitch, performing match past, protesting with a one thousand naira note replica towel and all sorts as you can see from the pictures. The question is, 'why did they hold us for so long when they knew exam would start by 3:30pm'? Let's not even talk about the casualties''.

    1. Ok, everyone has been expressing dismay at the events of yesterday, here is a fresh perspective, a bill was brought to the national assembly last year for the government to pay all graduates who have completed the NYSC scheme a reasonable amount of money as stipend, lo and behold it was swept into the bin! $20billion disappears months later, apparently stolen and shared among a myopic few, that amount is enough to cover that proposed payment for years! Better still could be used to provide a loan scheme for genuine graduate enterpreneurs. Its high time we told ourselves the truth, N2billion made by the NIS is an understatement, I recall that some friends of mine paid as much as 350k to some immigration officials to help them secure this employment, and I'm sure thousands of others paid same or even more. Where is this country headed? If the youth cannot even boast of 3 square meals not to talk of helping their families who have so much expectations after spending their last kobo to see them trhough school. Other oil producing nations have welfare packages for their citizens, what do we have in nigeria? Death, greed in high places, negligence on the part of the leaders, nepotism, avarice, exploitation, primitive accumulation of wealth from national treasury, all forms of social vices. The youth have the power to effect the change we need. From egypt to venezuela, the youths rose up to say no! We shall not take it anymore, if the same number of people who came out for yesterdays sham exam would agree to march on Aso rock to say NO with one voice, the so called leaders will know that their days are numbered. They would sit up and know that it is no longer business as usual! I heard about how we would be the leaders of tommorow when I was in nursery school, 30 years later the same people are stil in power, when then shall we get the opportunity to lead? When we become grandfathers? I pity this country...

    4. Halton very well said. But if an unemployed person could pay 350k to secure a vague job, why not use the money to start off a trade? Or did u mean 3,500N? Am confused here. If I had even 250k, I would look for means to turn it around for profits, why bother? Even some civil servants cannot gather 100k at any given time since their long years of service....so to me that is stupidity am sorry. Except if there's more to what you stated

    5. Mrs. Zulu, I wanna believe u recide in NIgeria and really wonder why u should be confused 350k is abnormal in Nigeria to secure a job. Go find out what its gonna cost u to provide a soft landing to secure a job in Customs Services. Am not encouraging it but that is d reality on ground here in our 9ja.

  5. Welcome to Nigeria .
A country where there is no hope for the poor .
A country where education is now seen as a waste of time because after graduation, u just have to learn a skill to survive.

Welcome to Nigeria where our so-called leaders keep getting richer and the poor masses keep getting poorer.

I blame this tragedy that occurred yesterday on our useless leaders. đŸ˜¥

And for you NIS, may the blood of those innocent souls be upon you head.

    Feeling infuriated! đŸ˜’

  6. Na WA o. People took risk. What if boko haram attacked? Cos such gatherings entice them... Let us stop calling GEJ and the govt. They are not ready to help. Even after protest what next? The only solution is getting something done for yourself. If you graduates and after the first yr you don't get a job, please look for something and do. Learn something or start up a trade. Its not a bad idea. You can feed yourself and other people

I wish the crowd that came out today all over the country wouldn't vote in the next election. No voting at all. That way, when a president emerges,we would ask how it came about. Even if we are to vote, not for all this old cargos... Let the new ones come in,even though we know they would still steal there share, they would want to work to cover up there stealing since they are new

  8. This is really very saddening.
I feel so bad for the families of the dead. May their soul rest in peace.

Now facing the NIS. Of course they knew what they were up to. The farce was just a successfully executed scheme to rob the gullible unemployed public of the little funds they have.

For the records Stella, these red-caped demons made a whopping 2billion naira just from the sales of the forms to these unsuspecting victims.

And the government will say that they are trying their best. I can say that's partly true but ur best is channeled towards the wrong direction.

2billion naira could successfully establish @ least 3-4 industries that could take up these vibrant nigerians. How hard is it to build a textile industry? consumer good based manufacturing industries? Let's leave the high tech industries for the later but their are better and cheaper ways to create jobs...that's the point I am trying to buttress.

Nigerians are the most docile people on earth ever. Wish I personally have the means to execute what I call " FINAL SOLUTION" for these pot bellied lunatics we call our leaders.

Yesterday would have been perfect for a revolution..Yes! A peaceful one. You can't allow less than 5000people in Govt to rob you and your entire generation of what they deserve. A country of over 140million that's a big shame and everyday, billions are looted and nothing can be done about that.

Point here is its time to be more PRAGMATIC and Politically aware of things going on around us.

Trust my people...they'll rather rally with the thieves to have some crumbs of cash thrown @ them than do the right thing for their future. *sighs*

    1. You are so right. It is only unemployment that can pull that type of crowd. Its just the proof some people need to show that this government has failed woefully. That was a huge scam. That was a silent revolution. There is no hope for Nigeria. Its really painful. People should vote wisely even though they will end up rigging.

  11. Shocking statistics. The first Nigerian coup was supposed to be a revolution. It was led by my age grade. He was in his 20s. His name is
Nzeogwu (29). It was later countered by another young guy (age 28) by the name of Murtala Mohammed (28). And then came the likes of Theophilus Danjuma (28), Babangida (he was then 25), Nanven Garba (23), Sani Abacha
(23), Shehu Musa Yaradua (23), and brought into power Gowon (32), Ojukwu (33), Obasanjo (29),
    Buhari (24).

    Where are our young minds?

Please drop daddy's car keys, the foreign accent "I just got back" attitude, "hand downs", Uncle's business and "when I grow old" mentality. And then remind me, how old are you again?

We are not too young. As a matter of fact, we are getting too old, to succeed.

Life is a place, where the earlier you start, the better it gets. And nothing moves till it is moved. Your destiny is in your hand.

So for you to sit down and complain about Nigeria like the problem is them, make excuses as to why you are where you are means that you are not yet grown up. #TakeResponsibility

While you're complaining some people are making strategic steps.

    #ForGrownMenOnly.

    So who's grown?

Are you a 40 years old boy or a 20 years old man? There's a difference.

Growing old is compulsory, but growing up is optional.

When the Independence was being fought for, Okotie Eboh was 27 years old, Enahoro was also 27, Awolowo was 37, Akintola (36), Ahmadu Bello (36)
    Balewa (34), they
led the struggle for independence. Only Zik was 42 at the time.

The place is here, and the time and future is now..

Whether life, business or society, we create strategy!

    Who's in..?

  15. Why should only the govt be blamed?,pple went there in there cars, elderly pple too....even pple that were not invited for the exam, gate crashed on it...we should sit and have a rethink,as bad as what happened is,they agreed to suffer themselves...at the sight of the crowd alone a reasonable person should have gone back home....RIP to those that lost there lives.........if this test is conducted again tomorrow, the crowd won't lessen

  17. @Anon 9:01am. Trust Lagosians. The life of a typical lagosian na hustling and struggling, so the pandemonium at the stadium na small thing for them. But for Abuja, its such a pity that people lost their lives in search of jobs. A very big disgrace to Naija as a whole. Not only that NIS still ripped them of 1k each for this multitude here. I agree that people will try and eke out a living for thenselves, but not everyone is business savvy. These 80,000 plus people cannot all go and start business. What will then happen to the govt parastatals that are supposed to create some jobs for its citizens. It is highly unfair and I hope the Comptroller will have something tangible to say to explain this calamity that befell these ones yesterday.

  19. The examination was conducted to justify the 1000 naira paid by each applicant, to avoid complaints from them.
Stellicious Stella, who's going to probe them if I may ask? The average Nigerian is now so moneycentric that nothing ll be achieved at the end of the probe(any news about pension fund saga).
Nigeria is a failed state,so let's face it ! we've to empower ourselves, farming isn't a bad idea cos we all eat(you can be a graduate farmer). I said yesterday, that I would have gone with truck load of pure water to sell(lol) when I saw the mammoth crowd on Channels.let's think about helping ourselves cos there is no government in place.
Tomorrow now some "eyeservice" youths ll come on your blog & be praising the government for what I don't know, kai,we are our own worst enemies joo, isshhh

  20. Stella we need to stop blaming the government for everything. It's the immigration service section that should be blamed. Why?
Last time this test was conducted about 5yrs ago it was really serious.
First the check your height. Your heart (if you have any medical conditions) before they even bother to check your credentials. Screening was so difficult so much so that very few made it to the test & no single kobo was collected.
On the day of examination, do you know my sister arrived the center at few mins past 7& she was not allowed entrance cause she was late. This time around the poor lady decided to arrive the centre at 6:30 not knowing that things have really changed.
Somebody somewhere changed the way things have always been done.
Somebody suggested they should collect money from applicants.
Somebody was careless and the whole thing was not well organised leaving those applicants under sun.
This is not the first time people are going in for this exams.
Why was everything so different things time around?
Why didn't they perform that rigorous screening to reduce the number of applicants like they used to.
Finally not all applicants are jobless. Some have very promising jobs but they just needed some better.
We should learn to be content
