Nigeria has received an experimental drug froman unnamed Nigerian scientist to treat Ebola virus, the Minister of Health, Onyebuchi Chukwu, said in Abuja on Thursday.Chukwu, who gave the cheering news at a news conference, gave the name of the drug as “Nanosilver.”
“The only experimental drug we have now is Nanosilver, provided by a Nigerian scientist; details of the drug will be disclosed later to the media.

DeleteSecond, the "doctor" promoting this is a conspiracy theorist. While I do agree that the pharmaceutical industry has a lot of rot in it, I can't see how she can support the claims that Colloïdale Silver (aka nanosilver) can work on Ebola.
If you can find a research that proves what she is saying, do post a link! And I mean the research, and not simply reference to the research.
Prevention is extremely crucial, so follow the rule of 10 to explain prevention to your friends and family.

It's been tried on HIV cases in the past and it failed.. Besides it's side effect profile is horrible.. These days it is sold as a dietary antiseptic for topical uses like hand sprays and promoted by quacks as a heal all medicine.. You can get a small bottle in Amazon right now for £12.99. It was not invented by a Nigerian.. It's possible help for Ebola was suggested by a certain Dr Rima and she brought it up in view of the sanitary condition in Africa.. These are self evident facts..

What is the composition? Nano silver can be ionic, metallic, silver oxide, etc. Nano refers only to the size, not to the nature of this compound.
What is the protocol which will be used? This is obviously critical.
What are the criteria for patient selection? This is equally obviously critical.

A simple google search will show that nano silver is a supplement and immune booster not necessarily a cure for Ebola . Zmapp remains the most likely drug for curing Ebola. Can't the Nigerian reach out directly to Mapp Biopharmaceutical Inc directly for the Zmapp drug? A simple google search will bring out their contact and phone numbers for direct reach. The USA did test on Nano silver years ago and it works: A Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA is part of the Department of Defense USA, created in 1999) paper declassified in 2009 which showed definitively that Nano Silver 10 PPM inactivates Ebola virus and does it better than either a 25 PPM or 50 PPM solution.
