 The 18-month-old baby currently quarantined after being suspected to have contracted the dreaded Ebola virus disease, has tested been confirmed negative. The Rivers State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Sampson Parker, who revealed this while briefing journalists in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, said that a second test would be carried out on the child on Thursday (today).

Crisis has hit the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Borno State over a reported rift between Governor Kashim Shetima, the SSG and the women leader, Hajiya Fati Kakinna.

A source linked the crisis to the governor’s alleged imposition of his Chief of Staff, Alhaji Abubakar Kyari for the Borno north senatorial district.DailyPost gathered that last week, the woman leader, Hajiya Kakinna and the Chief of Staff almost engaged in a fight the governor’s office.The woman leader has also reportedly threatened to dump the APC and join the Borno political godfather, Senator Dr. Ali Modu Sheriff in the PDP.DailyPost also gathered that following a statement credited to the Borno SSG in Abuja on the political and security situation in Borno, Shettima is planning to sack him.According to residents of Borno, the gathering of political supporters at the UTC campaign office of former governor Ali Modu Sheriff has further put the governor in a most tight political corner, which left him fighting everybody and further creating more gaps between him and political gladiators of Borno, who should work towards victory for him.

Although sources said the governor was waiting for the formal declaration of former governor Modu Sheriff for PDP in Borno before constituting his cabinet, most of the people he had been contacting had been declining his offer.

Lagos, on Wednesday dissolved a seven-year marriage between a Customs agent, Musiliu Abdul, and his wife, Bisola, over sex denial.

President of the court, Mr R. I. Adeyeri, in his judgment, held that both parties were no longer husband and wife and were free to go their separate ways.

Abdul, 48, had on April 7, filed a petition, urging the court to dissolve his marriage to Bisola over denial of sexual intercourse.

“My wife always starve me of sex; she will not even allow me to touch her, let alone make love to her’’, he said.

Abdul further said his wife got him arrested, accusing him of sending hired assassins after her.She claimed she had been receiving calls from unknown people, who threatened to kill her and she was accusing me of sending them”, he added.

The petitioner also claimed that his wife rented his house out without his consent and that she did not give him the money...She let out my apartment and sent away my security guard without my knowledge”, the estranged husband alleged.

On her part, Bisola, 47, a businesswoman, told the court that she used to receive death threats from unknown people and she believed it was the work of her husband.She told the court that she never denied her husband sex, saying “he used to have sex with me anytime he wanted”.

The respondent said she rented the apartment out because her husband told her that he had willed the house to her daughter.She said she did not fight her husband until when she came back from London and her husband asked her to move to another room.Bisola also recalled that her husband came home one day to pack all his belongings without any tangible reason.She pleaded with the court not to grant her husband’s wish, saying she was still interested in the marriage and had nowhere to go.

The court, however, ruled otherwise.

Youths and vigilance group members in Michika and Madagali local government areas achieved a feat against the Boko Haram insurgents when they killed about 80 Boko Haram insurgents on Tuesday night when they were fleeing Adamawa state. The insurgents, The insurgents reportedly ran into the hands of the youths after they ran out of weapons. Report says normalcy has returned to both local governments.

A 37 year-old man, Yakubu Danladi, was on Wednesday remanded in prison by a Magistrate Court in Minna for alleged homosexual act...Danladi was arraigned on a one-count-charge of “unnatural offense’’ with a 14- year-old Ahmed Mohammed, in his house in Minna.

The prosecutor, Afred Auta, had told the court that one Alhaji Danasebe of Angwan Daji in Minna reported the matter at the State Police Headquarters on Sept. 9.

Auta said Danasebe told the police that the accused had been having carnal knowledge of Mohammed over the past six months.Auta said during police interrogation at the station, the accused pleaded guilty to the offense.

“Mohammed has been living with me for the past two years because his mother who is my relative left the boy under my care.

“The mother of the boy came to my house on Sept. 8 to take back the boy. It was then I realized that blood was coming out of the boy’s anus. I told the mother to wait till the end of the month when I will receive my salary to take the boy to the hospital, but she refused.

“She objected to it by reporting the case to my uncle who then called the vigilance group; they started beating me and insulted me before taking me to the police,” Danladi said.However, when the case got to the law court, the accused pleaded not guilty to the offense.Magistrate Amina Musa, adjourned the case till Sept. 29 to allow for proper investigation.

There are indications that other presidential aspirants in the All Progressives Congress may be asked to step down and support former Head of State, Maj. Gen Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), as the party’s consensus candidate for the 2015 presidential election.

Reliable sources in the party, say that this was the position of many leaders of the party including former Governor of Lagos State, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who is arguably the party’s most influential leader.

Though the party has maintained that it will conduct a transparent presidential primary election, which would give all the aspirants a level-playing field, some of its leaders said they are currently considering choosing the candidate via consensus to avoid bitter conflicts that may arise from a keenly contested primary.

The spokesman for the party in the South-East, Mr. Osita Okechukwu, who confirmed this, said the general notion among leaders of the party was that Buhari should be chosen as the party’s candidate through consensus — an option that is permitted by its constitution.
