PROBLEM NUMBER ONE
CREAM SMELLY DISCHARGE
Hi Stella I have a whitish/creamy smelly discharge in my Vjay for about a year now,at first I thought its normal in ladies. I need your in house doctors to help in knowing what could cause this, what it is exactly and how it can can be treated...

WHAT!!!...you have carried around a creamy smelly discharge for a year?
you know what?As soon as you read this, pick up your shoes and run straight to the doctor's and pray nothing is damaged.
Creamy smelly discharge point at Gonocacus or something worse.
Now go see a doctor...NOW!

PROBLEM NUMBER TWO
GAGGLING WITH WARM SALTY WATER AFTER TOOTH EXTRACTION

Its me Stella Dimoko Korkus...!
Yesterday I extracted my wisdom tooth because filling up the hole failed and the filling ended up resting on a nerve.I must say that the ache is not even something I wish on my haters...that is eeeen.......

Anyways as soon as I got up to go,the female Dentist came close to me,stared eyeball to eyeball and said '' Do not touch that part at all for the whole of today, and most importantly do not try any local remedy and do not gaggle with anything at all''

So,i was a bit alarmed when ya all were advising online, sending me inbox mails and pinging me to gaggle with warm salty water...Am I missing something?

Who invented the gaggling with warm salty water and why is my dentist against it?
Toothache is worse than childbirth pains and Respect to anyone who has ever extracted a tooth!

Stellastica sorry about your toothache, the pain will go with time. I think you should just relax let me come and help you with the house chores.

    2. The salt and water stuff really does work. I had this badass tooth/gum ache once. Went to the health centre and the dentist gave me salt (in some kind of sealed pack) and pain relief.
Was so angry because I had salt in the house that I could have used instead of being charged a whole lot of money for salt and pain relief.
      Anyway, it worked for me.

Discharge is normal only if it odourless n whitish but when it smells then it's an infection! Go.for test (HVS)

    5. The salt and water gaggle solution starts the day after Stella.
I just did two extractions myself and my dentist advised to not even spit at all for the whole day, then begin the warm salt water gaggle the day after.
You will be fine dear. Pele

    6. RINSING: Avoid all rinsing or swishing for 24 hours after extraction. Rinsing can disturb the formation of a healing blood clot which is essential to proper healing. This could cause bleeding and risk of dry socket. After 24 hours you may begin gentle rinsing with a saltwater solution (1/2 teaspoon salt + 1/2 teaspoon soda + 8 ounces warm water). Avoid commercial mouth rinses. DIET: Eat soft foods for the first two days. Maintain a good, balanced diet. Return to normal regular meals as soon as you are able after the first two days. Drink plenty of water. Avoid alcohol for 48 hours..http://www.oswegodentist.com/post-op-instructions.html

    8. Salt and warm water has been working 4 me since I started using it. I tested and tried it like 5times and it has always worked.

The lady with discharge, go do some tests. Depending on the diagnosis. If it is viginisis, take aloe vera and bee propolis.

I am a natural remedy person.

I didn't like the colour of my skin. I was like coke and fanta. I use to use Detol soap and pears baby lotion. Anytime I come back 4rm work I became blacker. So I tried papaya soap and body lotion. I am light now but not very fair. I love my skin. I started using it last year. I changed what I did not like not cus of low self esteem but cus I wanted to equalise my skin tone and be happy. How will my stomach and laps b fair and my legs, hand and face very dark? If u want to change ur skin tone do it the natural way. I recommend papaya (pawpaw). And it cleared all my dark spots. I don't get pimples as much as b4. No harsh chemical like hydroquinone or kojid oil. And also I can be without makeup. B4 cus of the black spot I always tried to use concealer and foundation to cover the spot and sunburn on my face.
Pls post my commet. Let it not end up in ur pot of stew. Thanks

    1. Your doctor is right. The warm water and salt gargle is for infection. You don't have one now and they advise against it so you can heal properly (I.e clot) . The salt can be abrasive and cause you to bleed that's why.

You liked the smell or wat???
Biko refer back to Kehinde's response on your toto matter.

Lol @ Stella, please do not gaggle with anything. The gaggling ish is for WHEN you still have the tooth causing the ache. The salty water is to clean the hole on the tooth to ease the pain.
Cuz i can rem back then in Primary school, during snack time, immediately i eat my snacks, the pain comes in full force. So my Class mistress would get me the salty solution which eases the pain.

But as you have extracted the tooth, Stella, DO NOT GAGGLE. Its like a sore wound. Imagine pouring salt on it. Biko, don't do it.

Take any analgesic for the pain, inugo.

But why are you still having pain after extraction?? Or i misread the post?

    ReplyDelete
  21. At Stella I am surprised as well to her objection to warm saline mouth wash.
Here is the pathophsiology behind using warm water with salt to gaggle, salt is NACL, I with warm water it creates an isotonic solution an through osmosis helps to keep that area from getting a secondary infection , it's also soothing to the pain.
When you do a surgical extraction , which you did on your wisdom teeth! They are suppose to stitch your gum around the wisdom tooth as well to aid healing .

    ReplyDelete
  22. creamy discharge poster, you need a doctor and change of all undies fast, for your own good. aunty Stella for your ache, I've heard d gaggling thin from so many people that have tooth aches nd it kinda work work some too. but since your doc says no then I see no reason why you should try it.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I extracted my tooth 3years ago, and I was adviced not to gargle with anything, kiss or suck on a straw for about 2weeks.
According to the dentist, this was to prevent Dry Socket, a condition that mostly occurs a few days after extraction; it occurs when the blood clot within the healing tooth extraction site is disrupted.
According to the dentist, the pains associated with dry socket is even more severe than the extraction itself.

In a layman's view, Dry socket is just like a fresh wound, in order for the wound heal fast, the patient should avoid picking on the dried flesh which covers the fresh wound when healing starts to occur.
So I'd suggest you go with the dentist's advice..
    All the best!!

Shior. Which one is the dentist doing "eyeball to eyeball" and trying to scare you?

I asked a dentist for you and she sent me this:

Dentists often recommend saltwater to ease the swelling and pain that can result from having a tooth pulled or having a mouth sore, like a canker. An Australian dentist says that a saltwater rinse is good when you've had a tooth pulled because it reduces inflammation. He doesn't advocate the rinses on a daily basis, however, saying the acidity of saltwater can damage the enamel on your teeth and cause tooth decay [source: Kerr].

Follow your dentist's advice. Maybe she's given you something that does the job of the salt already.

  32. From someone on Yahoo:

Coincidentally I also had my wisdom teeth taken out today. I got a packet with instructions for after getting them out and mine explicitly says NOT to swish with warm water and salt on the FIRST DAY. Also, I strongly doubt you'll pass out from the pain of it. You should have gotten a ton of pain killers anyway, which means you should only be in a moderate amount of pain.

It says to follow the following instructions starting on DAY 2:

    "Mouth Rinses:

Keeping your mouth clean after surgery is essential. Use one quarter teaspoon of salt dissolved in an 8 ounce glass of warm water and gently rinse with portions of the solution, taking five minutes to use the entire glassful. Repeat as often as you like, but at least two or three times daily for the next five days."

  36. Ndo aunty Stella, I understand what you are going through, being a victim several times, myself.

I am planning my next visit already. The one I did in Nigeria during my service year, I saw hell and devil (my manager at the bank). I went to work the following day, with swollen mouth, I couldnt even talk to anyone, they all understood and started blaming me for coming to work. Except my BM who didn't see anything wrong with me, at 4 my mom called me to go take permission to leave work, when the bank closes at 5, wetin my oga no yarn that day?!

  37. Haven't experienced childbirth pains yet so I cannot compare it with toothache, but this much I can say,if one is bludgeoned in the head with a hammer the pains is less compared to toothache.toothache/pulling a tooth has no comparison.after suffering from toothache for 5yrs and after having pulled off 4 of my teeth,I can say toothache is the worst pain ever.cos when it starts, its not just your tooth alone,it affects the eyes, ear, cheeks, infact the whole face..glad am finally free from toothache.the need for salt and warm water after pulling of a tooth is to avoid bacteria or germs from feeding on the gaping and sore gum, till it heals.your dentist didn't say cos she didn't know.

  38. #1 you have an infection, we've discussed that issh here before, dunno how u managed to live with it for over one year because the smell is really worrisome. go get your self treated.
Stella the warm water thingy is a No no after extraction cos I extracted a tooth here in the UK some months back and was advised not to do anything for that day, just pain relief after few hours. but i was asked to use Corsodyl mouth wash and warm water to rinse my mouth like 4times or more a day. so sorry but the pain nor be here abeg, mine was as if a carpenter had a workshop inside my mouth, oh that aching pain like he was nailing a hard wood and to make matters worse, I was pregnant and couldn't take nothing, I lived with that pain for days.

  43. She is correct. U don't gaggle on the first day so u don't disturb the blood clot that would form in the hole and cover ur nerve endings which are exposed hence the pain. U don't do anything to disturb that area even the use of a straw. I personally starved for the first 24hours. If not u may end up with a dry socket which is extremely painful. So yea she is correct

  44. Stella sorry about the pain. Here is wishing you quick recovery. I'm in need of a job, any kind of job, imagine a graduate of Leeds city University molding blocks on the street just to survive, I Studied computer and information service and came out with a 2nd class lower. I just need a job. God please hear my cry.

  45. At Stella,i extracted 1 in february and the dentist said after 24hrs that i shld gaggle with warm water and salt for 2wks.

  46. Poster 1: how's your personal hygiene ?
And are you the type that insert fingers bringing out what's not from the vagina ?

Go to a gynecologist and have tests run, including Pap smear test.

Then, inserting a clove of garlic and leaving it overnight in the vagina works for infections too.

Poster 2: Stella, toothache can run one mad.
I had mine filled out, because my father specifically told me not to extract (he's had about five removed, too. I wonder why he told me not to, though).

    I think toothache is familial.

Since filling the tooth hole, I have been good (though, I still get a slight throb in the place, every here and then).

I just pay more attention to my oral sanitary condition. I don't want to experience the pain ever again.

'Gaggling' with salt solution ends up making things worse for me, before I had it filled up. So, if your dentist say no gaggling, then I would advise you adhere to her instructions.

P.S: I'm having difficulties commenting as BitchBiko, I had to open another account with this new sobriquet.

  52. Poster one, u probably have candidiasis(yeast infection), symptoms are whitish cheese like discharge and the creamy colour and smell could be due to staph aureus infection cuz candidiasis causes tears in ur external vaginal walls and the staph aureus bacteria which is present on the skin enters the vagina through the tears and causes an infection , have had it before but still see ur doctor for proper diagnosis.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. How did you treat it?

      Delete
    2. I went to the hospital and I was given different antibiotics for the staph aureus and itraconazole plus candid V6 for the candidiasis.... Jux make sure that the candid v6 that u insert into the vagina doesn't finish before the antibiotics, if it does, buy anoda one, jux 600 naira.... Because antibiotics causes the candida to grow in number so u need that candid v6 to suppress the candida growth.... So till the antibiotics u are given finishes, keep inserting the candid v6 at night..... The antibiotics is for the staph aureus which is a bacteria and the candid v6 is for the candida which is a fungus . Plus take plenty of yoghurt when ur medicine is finished esp farm fresh cuz the yoghurt will replenish good bacteria in ur vijay that will prevent all these infections and while on treatment soak ur undies with hot water and dettol for some hours then wash and rinse with hot water and dettol and u have to stop eating or drinking sugary stuff cuz sugar makes candida to grow and u have to stop wearing tight pants and wear only cotton pants plus wash the external vijay with jux water and mild toilet soap if u want and also dry that area completely with a dry towel .., but pls go to the hospital so that they will do sensitivity test and know what drug will work for u ok...,

@poster infection: pls run to the. hospital but before you run there; throw way all your pants because this case no be the one you go soak pant for Lukewarm water with detol.when you get there do vaginal swap test;pls don't go to all the road. side lab.go to a good hospital and do it;so that they can do a proper and correct reading on the culture and prescribe the correct sentive antibiotic. Don't do this again;unless you don't want to give birth and want organ damage
I pray it has not done any harm yet.@stellastica; pls follow your doctors words. this is a surgery and you don't tamper with the surface till it is healed.the salt will be harsh on the surface and if there is a stitch; it can break it up and make you to enter for another surgery.you use salt always when you feel tooth ache without surgery in order to help reduce the bacteria reaction and after removing a tooth;which acts as a cleanser to prevent bacteria invasion on the whole where the tooth was removed.sorry so much;I know how it feels;been there.@poster pregnant: the lord will be your strenght;it will soon be over;no cause for alarm;is not up to 40 wks but I know the discomfort at this stage.exercise well with house chores and strolling.Meet your husband always now;it helps.@poster miscarriage pls I don't want to alarm you but it can be either an infection;signs of cervical cancer;non lubricant of the vagina before sex;causing the wall of the vagina to bleed.pls go to a good hospital and check yourself.

  59. #1.You should gargle with warm-salt water saline a day after extraction (I'm sure ur dentist told you not to do it on the same day of ur extraction. She didn't mean you shouldn't do it at all). #2 Please DON'T poke ur tongue in the extraction socket (searching for what you didn't put there). Also don't suck on the extraction socket. #3. Don't spit out on the day of the extraction. #4. Don't smoke or use alcohol on the day of the extraction #5. If you have pain take Panadol. DON'T take an aspirin. #6. If bleeding continues please report to the nearest dentist.

  61. Hi Stella D, sorry for the extraction. it is very painful. I have removed before. Infact, the last time in August i was to remove two teeth but i was told to come back after two weeks that i must have completed my prescription. The Dentist told me not to touch that part and no hot food too. But, the following day, i will have to use warm water and salt to gaggle my mouth before and after meal thrice daily. it really worked for me. My first extraction was too painful. The second one i went to a general hospital and was much better.

  66. Hello Stella, Sorry to hear about your tooth. I have been there before , I had all 4 deeply buried wisdom teeth and two odontomas removed in one operation and I had to be put to sleep as well. The pain is not a joke. Anyways , My Canadian surgeon advised me to use ice packs on my face to reduce swelling, not to suck from a straw, no strenuous activity, no heavy chewing , so that the site of the extraction can heal or grow back some flesh ; and whatever flesh is growing back wouldn't be dislodged or infected with bacteria via food particles etc. After , a few days I was told to flush all the sites with a specific heavy duty mouth wash and syringe and of course I was on serious painkillers. I did not use salt water until like few weeks after my mouthwash had finished and I felt the holes in my mouth were firmly covered with flesh.Hope this helps.

Stella, your doctor should have given you like 2 days worth of percocet to use then the remaining days with Ibuprofen (at least that's what my dentist did when he extracted my 4 wisdom teeth). Trust me it did help, I even gaggled with salt and water, I even tried some over the counter benzocaine to numb the pain, if not the pain will just make you one bitchy woman.

  74. Smelly vjay with creamy discharge is usually a sign of infection. It could be a yeast infection or std. I don't know why you would think it's normal for your discharge to have a nasty odor. it is normal to have a clear discharge WITHOUT odor. You should see a gynecologist asap.
@Stella, you should never gaggle with anything after an extraction, it will dislodge the blood clot used to cover the open wound which will lead to excruciating pain. You should eat ice cream or yogurt to help prevent swelling and to help ease the pain. Pele ooo.
