PERIOD ON HOLD - HELP!
Stels please I have an issue that i will like you to post in your doctor section.
i have challenges with my menstrual flow. Problem stared in 2012, visted two gynacologists, did two pelvic scans and urinary test but nothing was found. In december 2012, a gynacologist at a general hospital prescribed oral contraception (daily pills known as 33 combination) took it for two months (january and february 2013) since then period has been stable, though it skipped in september last year.
Problem now is that i haven't seen my period since december and i am not pregnant, a pharmacist friend advised me to take provera tab for 10 days and then wait till another 18 days.
Pls help me post this if there are other BVs that have this problem and if they are other drugs or tests that i can do.

Provera has grave side effects oo poster. abnormal bleeding from the uterus due to hormonal imbalance and not due to fibroids, or cancer; and to prevent endometrial hyperplasia in postmenopausal women who have not undergone a hysterectomy and are receiving conjugated estrogens.
ReplyDeleteThe only important ingredient it contains is just the medroxyprogesterone acetate, which is a synthetic form of the naturally occurring female sex hormone, progesterone.
But what do i know. Humans have different genetic make up. One man's food is another man's poison.
I will rather u try using Norethindrone acetate common drugs like Aygestin would do the magic. Just saying...

yours is better.Mine I've been bleeding since 26 January.did pregnancy test-negative,carried out a mild scan,my ovaries are ok but the endometrium(I don't even know what it means) is thick and yet I keep bleeding
DeleteI don't take pills or any preventives.I've tried resting though but its been difficult cos I can't stop thinking about it.General hospital says I ve to come back in 6weeks time for another scan while I've traveled away from where I did the first scan and won't be back till April
Its been crazy.Sometimes its heavy with clots,sometimes its light.Don't ve money to visit a private hospital
Who knows what this means?I'm loosing my mind.I don't know what to do again.Is there any radiographer that can do another scan for me at a reduced cost.I stay in Lagos,please help me.
I been in your shoes so i know what you are going through. I bled for almost nine months . Had to even have a blood transfusion. At first i was put on provera but it only helped for a while. The best thing is to go on birth control pill and it will help regulate the bleeding . And try and lose some weight too if you are overweight.it worked for me. Talk to a gynecologist

ReplyDeleteI had similar issue like urs...didn't see mine for two months...did all d necessary test but it did not cum out.....I just did hvs test and gave to a nurse who had a pharmacy...and she gave me drugs and I also took injections...which she said b4 d fourth day of taking it dat it will cum out...lo and behold it did....since den have neva experienced dat again...God is ur strength
Deleteposter pls stop pumping in all those contraceptives because they can cause cancer.your problem can be hormonal due to stress and it can cause hold of menstruation.leave your system for now and reduce stress.all the best

Quit taking drugs for some time and rest.Take enough fruits and vegetables,drink plenty of water.Take evening primerose oil and cod liver oil.Lastly,see another doctor,some doctors are quacks,they can endanger your life.

DeletePls stop all ur taking ... i have what is called polycystic ovaries and it affects ur period, I am 21 and my period stopped coming when I was 18, after 6 months of not seeing my period I told my mum. I never had sex so I was not bothered when we went to the hospital and did all the test in the world, that was when I found out what I had .. so the doctor told us not to worry for my hormones would adjust back to normal as the years go by but if I wanted to be seeing my period he could recommend a drug .. long story short * we never took the drug and it's been 3yrs and my period is back to normal *.. side effect of having polycystic ovaries is that you could get pregnant and not know ..

ReplyDeleteHello poster...a pelvic scan alone cannot Tell us exactly whats Wrong with u..if u r sure u r not pregnant and had done the test to confirm u r not.. then i move on to my next suggestion..i wud advice u do the HSG (HYSTEROSALPINGOGRAM TEST) THIS WUD GIVE US A BETA PICTURE OF UR FALLOPIAN TUBES AND THE UTERUS AND CERVIX..ALSO U MAY ALSO NEED TO DO A THIRD DAY HORMANAL ASSSAY(WICH IS TO BE DONE ON THE THIRD DAY OF UR MENSTRUAL PERIOD).. Used all sorts of strong antibiotics even inserted garlic to no avail. At first I thought it was lochia. This is so embarassing. I have ti wear a tissue to avoid pant stain cos it comes out in large quantities , yellowish.

U have candidiasis, it's a fungi infection which antibiotics cannot cure, antibiotics will only make it worse. U need fungi medications. Go and see a doctor dear. Been there, done that.

ReplyDeleteAm 27....I have a 20cm or more fibroid...my period has been off and on...now av not seen my period for 2months and dis had happend before about 2months back too...I took a test november 1st...pregnancy positive which is possible cos am sexually active..went for scan...no baby..a week after I took anoda blood test...pregnancy negative..scan negative..urine negative..now my body behaves like its pregnant..infact I feel movements sometyms...my stomach is hard but I can't tell cos I have a huge fibroid too..am not married and from dat kind of family where dey can say kill her cos she's pregnant..but den..what's driving me crazy is d fact that I dnt even know if am pregnant or not or what's happening to my body..and I have a huge fibroid again of which d tot of surgery is driving me crazy on its own.....my God...am crazy already..av not had sex in about 5months..and my nipples get painful atyms..google doesn't help me cos it contributes to my going nuts...I could actually just die....but den I keep telln myself..dats cowardice...am I considering it?yes..but deN av not had d mind yet...Jesus pls save me

ReplyDeleteAnyway ,am a pharmacist I have read ur story ,it's touching anyway....I guess u have polycystic ovary disease...normally it wud go on it's own and is harmless althouse some require surgery....but in all while see a gynaecologist I suggest u take evening primerose oil capsules...lastly treat for infections also so as to clear d coast first...do the following tests namely
