There is no official confirmation or announcement yet from INEC but  according to the Associated Press(AP).Nigeria's electoral commission will postpone
Feb. 14 presidential and legislative elections for six weeks to give a new multinational force time to secure northeastern areas under the
sway of Boko Haram.

An official close to the commission allegedly told The Associated Press on

Saturday.

  4. Jega will announce the postponement by 5pm this evening.. Already confirmed by times of London.. About 30 million southerners would be disenfranchised as they are yet to collect their PVC as well as Boko Haram issues in the North. Elections will commence on the first weekend in April..

Six weeks will be enough to correct all of this inadequacies.
    Its a laudable idea
so that everyone that can vote wont be disenfranchised.

  12. Absolute bullocks. Since when did the federal government start to care about BH?

Why did they wait till the election period to make any effort to curtail BH or consider the need to tighten severity?

They are just using the security measures as a bait to postpone it, when the circulation of the PVC excuse fell on deaf hears.

This will cause a lot of troubles in the country. Many businesses have been on standstill in anticipation of this glorious election.

A postponement by 6 bloody weeks is a call for unsettlement in all areas of the the economy and all else

Protesters have taken to the street. Jega has compromised under duress. Sad pity

    1. I wonder too!since when did they start to care?smh
The federal government could not curb bokoharam for 6yrs,they want to do it in 6weeks?how is dat possible!?oh com'mon!we ain't foolish we know d plan is to postpone, remove Jega, place someone dat will postpone again then come may29,Jonathan will form an interim govt!but all these evil plan will come to nought cos God has heard the cry of nigerians and have decided to save them from this sick' regime, but if Jona wants to force it,d wrath of God will fall on him sooner than he expects!Jonathan be warned.

What we all need right now God's Direction and grace because insurgency is a bad thing that could destabilise a country plus their Economy but God has been faithful. 26. I read something of such yesterday from a Facebook page of a top politician after their meeting (he is a family friend)..I told my mum,she said "lailai, they will not gree cos PDP people want to do their mago-mago".I just kept quiet oo cos i wasn't just in the mood for arguments that morning. we practically argue every day,cos she na #teamGMB#...elections should come and go,biko as everybody dey always bully me for house now..
INEC should confirm the news ASAP but going by what i heard,Jega doesn't want it postponed because it means he wouldn't be the one to conduct the elections after postponement as "some people" are planning to dethrone him,all this to the favour of a particular party. But he is bent on conducting the elections "free and fair"at all cost, announce whatever the results are and then leave office. na wetin i hear i talk oo

  44. Elections happened in Afghanistan and Iraq despite insurgency and these Admin is telling us they need 6 weeks to solve an over half a decade issue. Even if they print and drop PVCs in front of all homes, people will not pick it from their doorsteps. Nigeria and anyhowness. If people complain they should be asked why they did not vote. You think the people in the NE will come out and vote and not fear for their lives? This admin is truly clueless. Is it today or this past week that the Admin noticed the issues? nigerians always refuse to use their brains.

  47. The election will be postponed because the security agencies told Jega that they will be going on Boko Haram assignment starting from the 14th of February. So they won't be around to protect Jega, election materials and his staff. Hilarious.

  48. Nawa oo. May God help us in this country.....

  49. Stella, shebi you are a PDP supporter with direct access to Mr Abati, ask him now.

    My personal prayer:
May God's wrath fall on all the enemies of Nigeria's progress. From the many emails people send to you begging for basic needs, I would have thought it would be clear to you the extent to which MAJORITY of the people are suffering and only a FEW enjoying the nation's wealth. The poor have no vindicator but God, it is well.
