FREQUENT FOETAL LOSS
Good day,
I will start by saying my wife don't play with your blog she's on you blog every time and I will say myself I do check whenever I can. We got married 2013 thank God for everything he's faithful to us all the way. After wedding I noticed the signs of pregnancy, so we proceeded to do the test and confirmed she was pregnant and we were so happy joyful about it. Few weeks later she miscarried and she cried and I did my best to console her and she got better.
Few months later we got the confirmation again and this time we had to tell ma mum ,we were all so happy but some days later she miscarried and i didnt even know how to console her cos I couldn't bear the loss and blood she was losing.
After the whole episode we prayed believing God for a miracle. My wife stopped looking forward to if she was pregnant or not she was just happy and saying "If its the will of God for me to be a mother I will be a mother".
November 2014 she was pregnant again and I had to make sure she was not doing anything, when i was not too busy ,i quickly came back home early to assist her, after few weeks she lost the pregnancy again and this time I saw the real pain in her eyes and she cried all through, sometimes she would hide it from me so I don't think about what has happened.
So 2015 I happened to be the one checking to see if she missed her period or not as she doesn't care anymore cos she is even scared of getting pregnant and hearing stories. Last week we got a confirmation that shes pregnant and we were so happy and started taking several precautions so avoid anything.
Yesterday she woke me up to show me little blood on the bed and I was so angry, why is this happening to us? after the little blood nothing else happened.
Stella please I know your blog attracts lots of qualified professionals, Can anyone tell us what to do? Visited same doctors since the beginning of this issue they told us same thing yet at the same place.
Any advise or recommendations will be truly appreciated.

ReplyDeletePoster your wife may be having a weak cervix, i know a friend who had this issues bedore she was rightly diagnosed. They had to sew her up and put her on bed rest till when she was due they opened her up. Now she has two beautiful kids. Best of luck and baby dust to you two

DeleteIf you're trying to conceive, then you need to see a reproductive endocrinologist. They are specialized in fertility treatments. Else, go see a gynecologist. There are many drugs that induce ovulation, eg Clomid, Femara and many others

DeleteU need to visit different hospitals to be sure ur wife's womb is in normal condition..Check if her blood group is O-(negative)...I learnt women with O negative blood group miscarry..I dont know how true dat is bcos i'm O- too but have never expereienced miscarriage and i have never taken d anti Rhogam(whatever its called) injection dat stops miscarriages..

I believe it the cervix that needs to be tightened, adequate rest, folic acid and prenatal vitamins helps. Women with these symptoms benefit from this. You didn't state at what stage of the pregnancy , ur wife loses the pregnancy.
That's very important , because it would give us an idea of the cause of the miscarriage.
You need to see a specialist in Gynaecology, that's a gynaecologist.
There are several reasons, until the main cause is identified, then it would just be guess work.
Her age.
Her hormonal profile
Blood sugar levels
Clotting factors
Week in which pregnancy is lost are all very important.
Few questions.
Is she diabetic
Has she ever had fibroid?
PCOS?
Auto immune diseases?
DVT ?
APC?
All I'm saying is that she needs a thorough clinical assessment carried out with proper investigations , when the cause is identified , then treatment would be effective.
See a specialist in OBS/gynae.

Deleteoh no.....this is so sad ,I have been there and I knw how it feels to have a miscarriage and feel so sad.In my case the doc wrote that I will be given a progesterone pestril(drug to insert) to insert once pregnant which i was given but I almost miscarried for the second time and that is when i was given periodic progesterone injection, progestin tablets etc, for the first trimester along with strict bed rest,no sex,no bending ,even to bath etc, and after my first trimester I was strutting around like I owned the world. these drugs and advices are what need to be given by a very good obgyn .don't self medicate

DeleteWas spotting last week and the Gynecologist gave me an injection and drugs, was told to come back in a week time. Since spotting has disappeared, didnt see the need to go back for the injection but now I see a reason.
I am precisely 8weeks gone.

ReplyDeleteYou have a point Chidinma. This is another hidden cause of miscarriage people tend to ignore. I'm rhesus negative. Immediately after I delivered my kids on each occasion, I was given rhogam injection to prevent issues like this and congenital abnormalities in future pregnancies.

ReplyDeleteI have a friend that had similar issue. Then she met a gynaecologist who inserted a sac to hold the baby whenever she's pregnant renewable every 3months until she births the baby. She has two kids now...maybe you should try that.

ReplyDeleteI know it might sound cliché but I believe there's a spiritual undertone to this. My mother was there. I know someone else who was there too.
It took lots of Faith prayer to expose and dustabilize the demon.
I don't know your faith level but I believe you two should Bury yourself in prayer and MOSTLY the Word. Read the Word and know it for yourself. I believe in a minister of God praying for you but no prayer works faster than a prayer with personal understanding and conviction.

ReplyDeleteAT WHAT WEEK IS SHE ALWAYS HAVING MISCARRIAGE? She needs to see a Gynaecologist. Not just any doctor. A fertility doctor will be good. They will place her on some drugs. But her Uterus needs to be check that everything is ok. she can tie her cervix, if she is up to 12 weeks.

ReplyDeleteI think u should go to a fertility doctor kike the type found at IVF clinics not just anyhow gynae. He will be able to do what they call diagnostic hysterectopy to lookl inside her womb especially if she has had an abortion in the past. I've seen someone with this kind of problem before and when they checked she had sxar tissue from a precious abortion. Her case was so bad that a baby cannot implant in the womb. She always has early pregnancy miscarriage.
Pls I'm not saying this is her case ooo but get a qualified fertility gynae to look at her they might even do HSG to confirm. You can go to any IVF centre you know, they're mostly the people that know how to tackle it.
And as she's pregnant now rush they might
Give her some hormone injections that might be of help to help the pregnancy implant, maybe her body is not making enough of it to sustain the pregnancy.
I wish you all the best but hurry don't waste time since she's preggers now.
I am not a doctorooo but like I said I had a friend who went through a similar challenge. She is thinking of using a surrogate now because her case did not respond to treatment.

ReplyDeleteJesus! It happened to me. Tnk God I now have 2boys. My Ws low progesterone. I Ws place on premolute depot every week till 12weeks. Visit anoda doctor. To manage u till 12weeks den u can decide to hold d cervix till 9months. Wn u get to d doctor try to mention premolute depot. It wrks wonder. Good luck.

There is something ABOUT ABORTIONS which I'd like us to see. When one kills (or encourages the killing of; see Prov. 6:16-17) innocent children, the consequences are three. 1. You deny yourself the joy of having a home (remember the Hebrew midwives who spared babies against Pharaoh's advice to kill them; God rewarded them with families; Ex.1) 2. You risk "sudden death" in the hands of another fellow/accidents etc. remember Gen.9:6 and thirdly, you deny yourself eternal life! What a life! God isn't going to call you to glory if you do not repent. Jesus said; come to me all you that labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest; that's Matt. 11:28. If you do not repent, you'd keep on laboring for the Serpent. But if you repent and make Jesus your Lord today and begin to read your scriptures; you'd find peace and the above three lots will not be yours. God bless you.

It's might not be abortion. I have had abort ion for my hubby in the past . We were not financially ready I was seriously sick because of my rhesus factor.Today we have 2 beautiful kids .We are financially established. I do have guilt of the baby I aborted back then, he would have been 7 years old now. Life continues......

ReplyDeleteThis is a case of recurrent miscarriage,. There are different causes of recurrent abortion based on the average age of the pregnancy when those miscarriage occurred. If it occurred in second trimester, cervical incompetence and uterine anomalies have to be excluded while antiphospholipid syndrome if in first trimester. I will advise u don't just see any doctor but a gynaecologist pls. All the best
ReplyDeleteI feel you and your wife's grief as I went through exactly the same thing. I hope you get to read my post as I got desperate and one day noticed an article on Prednisolone and using this was able to go full term with a pregnancy. Google Prednisolone and miscarriage and you will find details of the dosage she needs to take. If it could work for women who had gone through 20+ miscarriages before they used predisolone, there is no reason why it should not work for you and your wife. Good luck and continue to support your wife as she would also have supported you if the fault was from you.

ReplyDeleteI had experienced loosing my pregnancies @ 16 weeks been every where and The Lord intervened , I saw him and followed strictly everything he said I should do , then the injections , until I got pregnant , continued and he then advised I relocated to the USA and of course it ended up in praise .
My daughter is 12 years old now , and I did not bother again trying ---- getting old . But try Olumide. Please .
The rhesus factor is irrespective of your blood group, not just O alone, there's B-,A-,O- and AB-. Anyone of these could have an adverse effect on your pregnancy especially if your hubby's blood group is positive and that is what your fetus has. Your body will recognize the pregnancy as a foreign body trying to invade it and then attack and expel it. There can be other reasons like incompetent cervix and other issues too as raised by others here. My advise is that the two of you should go to a teaching hospital in your location for thorough and proper medical check.
ReplyDeleteThis story really hit home.i miscarried twice within 7month.that period was the hardest time for me.but thank God am expecting again. Currently on aspirin 75mg and progesterone tablet (cyclogest). Hopefully with faith and prayer God will see me through.
