Jonathan Says Alamieyeseigha Made Him Who He Is Today

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has attributed his political success and attainment to the former Governor of Bayelsa State, Mr. Diepreye Alamieyeseigha.

Jonathan made this known on Saturday during a special thanksgiving service in his honour at the St. Peters Anglican Church, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

He said, “I will not forget to thank Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseigha. Without him, I would not have been talking about being a former president.

“At a time I was not thinking about being a commissioner in the state, he came to me and said I should run with him. That is why I am here today. So, without him, it would not have been possible to hear about Jonathan.’’

The event was attended by Dickson, Wike, Senator Anyim Pius Ayim, Senator Emmanuel Paulker, CAN President Oritsejafor and Rev. Uma Ukpai, Onyeka Onwenu amongst several others.

Amazed at the large turnout of people, Jonathan, short of words to describe his feelings also said, “After six years in Abuja, I thought Bayelsa people will curse and boo me. Because you are exposed to the decisions of high office and the thought that you may not have satisfied the people, sometimes you think they will curse or boo you. But, instead, the people have decided to celebrate me.”

    2. Have you ever been to bayelsa? Please just spend three month in bayelsa and let me know if you still love him.

I've lived in lagos all my life, so all Jonathan's bad decisions never bothered me because I was comfortable and I didn't think he deserved all the curses. I recently visited bayelsa for a month and I was really sad for bayelsans . Jonathan did absolutely nothing for his people. I can't start explaining how under developed the place is. Let's see if he will actually live the rest of his life there.

    3. The full text was highly emotional..
He recounted his political journey, his reluctance to even run with him as his deputy....

      Life is full of surprises.

    9. So all of a sudden everybody has refused to acknowledge the fact that Jonathan was deputy governor, then governor of bayelsa before he became vp. Call a spade a spade. A man that can not take care of his people can not take care of other people. Thank God he has finished his tenure. If u want to continue loving him please do, and carry that love to the bank let's see if it adds to your balance.

  5. Yes Alamieseigha made him who he is today. It is good to be humble,Goodluck started as a lecturer in Rivers State College of Education, his wife was doing her NCE in COE at the time. He later moved to Ompadec. When Alameiseigha was looking for a running mate, they had a meeting at Godwin Bozimo'shouse his late wife mentioned Goodluck . She also was a lecturer and Jonathan's collegue. She talked of her humble and good colleague because at that time Alamieseigha wanted a deputy that will not give him wahala. That was how he was picked up as deputy Governor. The same way he was loyal to his boss, Obasanjo picked him to be Yaradua's deputy. Jonathan might not be Nigeria's best president but he is one hell of a lucky man.People will not understand why he married a woman like patience, but when this man had nothing this woman hussled to even selling Ogbono. Wemay never understand mama peace, but Jonathan married the best woman for himself. He is calmand quiet , so im need gra gra woman or else i doubt the man will still be alive today.

    1. Well said. My mama usually says this, to strike a balance in marriage often times, the quiet ones should go 4 the "strong" ones. And vice versa.

  7. I didn't like Jonathan as President but you can't take away the fact that he is humble, for him to still appreciate Alamiesegha for choosing him to run with him shows that he doesn't forget those who have helped him at some point or the other.......
    **Now thinking**
Why then did he turn his back on Ebora Owu (Baba Iyabo)

    1. Cos like we all know, baba iyabo was evil and vindictive!! Always wanting to control ppl! He'll try the same with buhari and I hope buhari will fight him off. See on d Inauguration Day how he felt he should be the only to tell buhari to stand up and go greet the dignitaries wen he arrived at the eagle square. Is he part of protocol?? Always trying to show dat he's d wisest, if his family can't him how do you expect a president to be able to?

    1. How would obasanjo have known a lecturer from otuoke if he was not already a deputy governor selected by Alams himself? Use ur brain abeg, ur hatred for the non northern non Muslim gej is clouding ur judgement and making your comment sound like you can't reason well. Emancipate ur self from the APC mental slavery!
