Jonathan Under Fire Over Silence On Shutdown Of Oil,Power Sector

President Goodluck Jonathan appears to have re-enacted the same behaviour believed in large quarters to be the major reason why he lost the March 28 presidential election.

This is by his failure to publicly address Nigerians to show that he empathises with them in the face of the biting fuel scarcity and electricity shortfall that has plagued the nation in the last few days.

Although the intervention of the joint Senate committees on upstream and downstream sectors of the petroleum industry yesterday led to the suspension of the strike by major oil marketers with loading and distribution of the commodity already restored, many Nigerians argue that the President failed to show leadership at a time it mattered.

    7. Until fuel subsidy is removed, oil marketers will continue to hold this country to ransom. Jonathan wanted it removed, we protested, if buhari does not remove it, we'll always experience fuel scarcity /fuel hoarding in Nigeria.

    8. Jonathan is as a man who was a failure as a President, the first Nigeria president who took money to churches and mosques openly to corrupt pastors for vote,so childes that he started distributed dollars to traditional rules putting pressure on the naira,a guy that cannot control his own wife, a so bad that his own domestic works did not vote for him,so corrupt that he did not known the difference between corruption and stilling,a rejected president who was trying to claimed to be hero of peace that he denied Nigeria through out of amateurgovernment

    11. @nora Nelson, praise and potable, since the three of you are dumb, then let me explain what cluelessness means;
Waiting for 6weeks to election before engaging boko haram
Abba Moro still a minister in Nigeria despite the gory sight of NIS recruitment saga.
He wants to remove subsidy but e chosed a new year day to announce that.
Between $20b to $18b is missing and all ur clueless man could do was to sack Sanusi.
All the power stations built has no gas to power. Power has currently dropped to 800MGW.
The total national debt is $60b with nothing to show.
GEJ is so clueless that he forgot to put any meaningful project in the southeast and the south south.
He's so clueless that he was busy pleasing the north when it is obvious they don't like him.
That's what cluelessness means to the three of you. Stop being foolish

    14. No we won't live him. I was one of those showing immense empathy towards Jonathan as he rounded off.. disregarding his misdeeds and passing it as human errors coupled with having selfish morons as advisers around him. I conveniently blamed everyone else but Jonathan.

But heck, this past week has made me angry at him. Why would Jonathan keep mute when the entire nation was going into a state of gross anarchy? The least he could do was address the nation even if he won't do anything about it. That is gross misconduct and it now shows he doesn't really care. That he's leaving office soon shouldn't make him throw a non chalant attitude towards a serious development like this. There's no bloody excuse for it. He just proved his critics RIGHT. To hell I beg.

The GEJ led Federal Government Intervened yesterday but somehow Stella forgot to report it. 28. I agree. He or his spoke person(s), should have addressed the nation. Instead the finance minister and the oil marketers were trading blames at the senate hearing, accusations and counter-accusations while the nation boiled.
We were just like sheep without shepherd. Thank God temporary peace has been brokered by the committee, but we need a permanent solution to this downstream/deregulation problem.
I think the removal of oil subsidy was a good product that was badly sold to the Nigerian populace by this administration; now we've learnt the hard way that it is more of an albatross than a cushion, and that we're better off without it.

  34. We have finally come to the conclusion that his administration is the worst Nigerian has ever seen. It is good thing he lost out because another 4 years his leadership would have wipeout the name Nigeria from the history book. Those who supported him or wanted him to rule again should be ashamed of themselves as the past days none can openly defend their so called “HERO” here. The petroleum subsidy was a total scam that benefited the likes of Ifeanyi Uba and his cronies and GMB administration should investigate all of them.
You are suffering and smiling in your country, you pray for God to help you. How can God waste his time on people who do not want to help themselves by questioning the leaders? people who do not see anything wrong with their leaders when they are misruled even with all the sufferings the past weeks none came out to even protest.
Social media/bloggers refused to criticise their president because he is a southerner and a Christian, so since he is one of us none of us should question his style of leadership. He is a FAILED PRESIDENT. I am ashamed to call him my president the past years.
Yes it’s my opinion and you are free to keep yours to yourself because Nigeria have never seen it worst like the past weeks and years. £/$ High,No security, book haram, No fuel, education bad, road bad, electricity worst, we are debited to $60billion dollars, $20Billion still missing so i guess we shouldn't allow him to have peace when Nigeria have none.
My take is that he should be investigated, prosecuted and jailed or reprimanded. He represented his name fully the past weeks and years. What we got from him is waste of our resources and embezzlement with his FAKE SMILE.
    HE IS A FAILED LEADER.

FOR GOD SAKES HE IS THE PRESIDENT FROM DAY 1 TO LAST DAY! he should be ultimately held responsible for failures in his administration. There has been scarcity for several weeks and this man doesn't even have the decency or decent advisors to make him address his people to at least empathize. He is busy doing last minute clearance .
