  10. My husband tot he was a beast. He clogs me with belt whenever I provoke him. He will blow me as if we were mates. This continued for almost a year. Whenever he finish beating me he will ask for sex. After sex he will sleep peacefully while I cry and wallow in anguish. On this faithful day, he beat me as usual had sex and slept. The devil took charge of me too. I went straight to the kitchen, put on the gas and put the kitchen knife on it. The knife heated and became red. I went the store and brought out the hammer we use in fixing minor faults in the house. I took the hammer and knife to the room where the fool snored. I was ready to die dat day. I went to the room. Used the hammer and hit his mouth THAT was wide open . I could not use the knife on him when I heard him screaming in agony. I just held the knife in my hand ready to stab him if he lays his finger on me. He was bleeding and his 6 of his teeth broke. He got up and ran to the sitting room. He was screaming jesus. I came to the sitting room with the knife and he went for the door. He ran outside and was shouting that his wife wants to murder him. I went back to the kitchen dropped the knife and went to the bathroom. Took my bath. Packed my things and left the next morning. I have my peace now. Both families av been begging me. He has been begging this is the man that thought I was too fragile to hurt an ant. Even if I go back he knows that I am not that weak to fight back. But I don't see myself going back. The peace I enjoy outside that house is incomparable . Is been 2years since we broke up. My joy is that he is using artificial teeth and I have my peace.

    12. Sister, you are too soft. I poured fuel into my husband's car and set it ablaze when I couldn't bear it anymore. He finished pummelling me and went out for drink and probably to cool with side chick. I packed my belongings and took my daughter. I lit the car and left the house. I went to as far a plateau state where life is a bit easy and cheap. I rented a house and and started afresh. I cut communication with my family because they hate me. If they liked me they won't advice me to keep managing.

What abt emotional abuse. What abt those that their spouse tells words that can make them commit suicide? Those once need help too. They need to heal to. They need to start speaking out too.

  21. I am not trying to justify domestic violence but let the truth be told. Domestic violence is not only in beating of either of the partner. It can be in form of abusive words on one another. Domestic violence is not caused by a ghost. There are factors that causes that. Un till those factors are taken care of, it will continue to happen (God forbid). At times women claim that they are created in the nature to talk to men abusively. It's fallacious to say that. Women are stronger than men emotionally (quote me anywhere). There are several cases of men who committed suicide or had suicide attempt because of what a woman said to them (some might term them weaklings but these are what make us humans). We can't supress them. Though some people use societal pressures to pretend. Practically saying, most men will resort to violence when abused by women with strong words but self discipline comes to play at this point not necessarily 'forming' an iron man as the world would think. Women should guide their tongues when angered. Most men cant bear insults from women. As a medical practitioner and counsellor, I know many cases of men abused emotionally by their women which I have handled. Most times, its not easy to restrict violence because that's the first feedback the emotions give in order to get relaxed for we are human. But men who are disciplined control their emotions while some don't. It's not easy to always walk away when verbally abused, because the words are hitting a human heart. Bible advocates that we guide our tonge. Once a word is spoken it can never be taken back. Therefore, in as much as we reject domestic violence, we should also speak against verbal abuse. Both can lead to death. Many men may have died years ago due to verbal abuse they got from their wives and resorted to domestic violence. Bible made us to know that words can kill a man and not only physical killing. Let's be wise in actions and words.

    1. A Lot of people especially ladies here don't like hearing the truth, they feel because Lady A does so and so in that manner to her man they can also do the same forgetting that we are all wired differently.

    2. I dont abuse him, but whenever I disagree with him on something I might get beaten. Or he says try it and you will what will happen (meaning if I try it I will be beaten).

    3. Medical practitioner and counsellor indeed. My dear stop deceiving yourself, there is no excuse for murder, no excuse for domestic violence at all. Telling a woman to bridle her tongue so as not to get beaten or murdered by a man is like telling a man to plug out his eyes so as not to harrsass a woman in a sexual way with his looks. The bible also said when you look at a woman in a lustful way you have committed adultery with her. So shut up already and stop making excuses for stupidity. I am allergic to stupidity.

      Delete
    4. In that case you are allergic to your self because you are more stupid. It seems you left your brain in your pause. Emotional abuse is a killer as violence. Keep killing your husband with mouth and expect an applause. Domestic violence and emotional abuse are not justifiable.

Congrats citizens of Lagos and thank you mr governor for this and pls stick to the person who gave you the advice to do this he or she will not lead you astray.
