A Saudi Arabian man has divorced his wife because she was too busy texting friends on their wedding night.
The couple had retired to a hotel after the wedding ceremony and the groom tried to consummate the marriage but she spurned his advanced as she was responding to congratulatory messages from friends on her phone.
She became angry when he asked her to stop.
A relative told Saudi daily Al Watan: ‘The groom tried to get closer with her and more intimate, but he was shocked when she ignored him, not responding to his words and action.
‘When he asked her if her friends were more important than he was, the bride answered that they were.’
At this point a fierce argument ensued and the groom stormed out saying he wanted a divorce.
A court referred the case to a reconciliation committee but the groom’s mind was made up.
According to a Saudi legal expert, around 50 per cent of divorces involved newlyweds.
Ahmad Al Maabi said: ‘Misunderstandings, differences in views and the easy approach to marriage without a deep appreciation of the responsibilities are among the major causes for divorce among young people.
‘Marriages are bound to fail when there are no robust foundations or trust.’
*I have witnessed something like this happen..A few years back,a couple who had been dating since they were teenagers decided to get married,omg they were so beautiful,tall blond and blue eyed and in their mid 30;s then.they took their wedding guests to another country and spent money decorating each luxury room with gifts for their guests.......Weeks after they got married they broke up and shortly after their divorce pulled through and they both moved to different places.The groom was pissed that she was still hanging out with her single friends and had told him that she could not abandon them because she got married and then continued with her girly nights out......that was why they broke up.

Many new marriages are crashing nowadays because of this. A woman will get married and still be chatting with all her ex boyfriends and male friends on social media in front of her hubby. ReplyDeleteSaudi Arabia has got the highest rate of divorce in the world. They marry first then sex after. So to them divorce is not a big deal. If they are not compatible they both can go their separate ways and remarry. Marriage is not do or die.
