- There are reports that Human rights lawyer, Mr. Fred Agbaje is dead. Agbaje passed on Saturday after an undisclosed ailment in London. Reports have remained sketchy about the nature of the sickness that led to his death.
RIP to him.



- The Transition Monitoring Group, TMG, on Saturday said the Independent National Electoral Commission had done well in the conduct of the Ondo State governorship election. The TMG said in terms of preparation, compared to that of the Edo State governorship election, the electoral body had done tremendously well.


- A former Minister of Solid Minerals, Mrs. Obi Ezekwesili, has blamed the administrations of former President Goodluck Jonathan and that of the incumbent, Muhammadu Buhari, of leading Nigeria’s economy into recession. According to Ezekwesili, both leaders failed to adopt the right policies to deal with the crash in crude oil prices, which began in mid-2014, resulting in the ongoing economic crisis.



-Family of the murdered player of Shooting Stars of Ibadan, Mr. Joseph Izu, have called on FIFA to intervene in the gruesome killing of the central defender, alleging that the Nigerian government is not doing enough to apprehend those behind the murder of the player. They urged FIFA to bar Nigeria from all competitions until the government orders the military to produce the killer of Izu.


- The Super Falcons of Nigeria, yesterday proceeded to the next round of the African Women Championship, AWCON, after they defeated Kenya 4-0 to emerge top of their group in the ongoing tournament in Cameroon. Nigeria will play South Africa in the last four on Tuesday, while Ghana will play hosts Cameroon.


- Prominent politician and businessman, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to stop treating the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kalu, as an important personality representing the interest of the Igbos, saying the desire of the Igbos was to present a president for the country and not to part ways with Nigeria. Iwuanyanwu, spoke on Friday at the National Executive Council meeting of the Nigerian Union of journalists in Owerri, the Imo state capital.



- Following his retirement from politics, a former Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party’s Board of Trustees, Tony Anenih, has disclosed in his newly launched book how he blocked ex-Vice-President Atiku Abubakar from succeeding former President Olusegun Obasanjo, saying the ex-VP was becoming too ambitious. He said he made sure Atiku fell out with the president following his inordinate ambition.
