ONSA N1.7b Funds - Omisore Refunds N350m To EFCC

A former Deputy Governor of Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, has now paid back N350million of the N1.7billion public funds which the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission ( EFCC) traced to him.

Omisore first paid N300million and another N50million to the EFCC yesterday.
A top-level source in the EFCC confirmed the development, saying: ”We hope he will pay up the balance as soon as possible.”

“We are determined to retrieve all slush funds for the nation’s use,” the source added.
About N4.685billon was transferred by the Office of National Security Adviser (ONSA) to Sylva McNamara Limited, a company linked to a former Minister of State for Defence, Mr. Musiliu Obanikoro.

Of the sum, about N3.880billion was allegedly given to Governor Ayodele Fayose and Senator Omisore through cash and bank transfers by Obanikoro.
Omisore’s share was said to be about N1.7billion.
The former Deputy Governor gave the list of companies which benefited from the N1.7billion that was released by the NSA to him.

According to a report by the EFCC, some of the funds were remitted as follows: Fimex Gilt Limited (N160m)-8/8/2014in UBA; Metropolitan Consortium (N350m)—9/7/14 in First Bank; Sawanara (N300m)—1/8/14 in First Bank and Metropolitan Consortium (N350m)-1/8/14 in First Bank.

Meanwhile, there were indications yesterday that the Acting Chairman of the EFCC, Mr. Ibrahim Magu, has approved the release of a former Minister of State for Defence, Sen. Musiliu Obanikoro, and Dr. Reuben Abati who was a former Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan from custody.

While Obanikoro refunded N100.4million to the EFCC with an undertaking for the return of about N480million, Abati was granted bail to go and source for the N50million allocated to him by the Office of National Security Adviser( ONSA).
A top source said: “Having substantially met his bail conditions, the EFCC has released Obanikoro from custody. Apart from refunding N100million, he also pledged to pay back about N480million.

“Regarding Abati, the EFCC released him on bail to source for the N50million credited to him by ONSA.”

The Nation

  1. Millions millions everywhere! And I'm here.....just looking at my wallet

  2. When will all those APC governors return d state money they used to sponsor Malam Buhari to their various state coffers?

  3. Good for them...
But I keep wondering when Amaechi and Oshiomole will return the ones they stole...

    1. Sometimes it becomes shameful to keep defending thrives and perpetrators of evil ubder focus and we resort to bringing in other thieves not presently under focus just to water down the mud on the thrives under focus

  4. Gosh! He had better pay up everything he owes, ndi oshi..

  5. Please more of this . However we need to investigate other mis management of public funds aside the armsgate scandal. What's happening in investigating other parties aside PDP members. I support APC change agenda but they are equally guilty of stealing public funds especially tax payers money in Lagos.

    1. Oga, investigation is never done in the air. There has to be a petition with evidence to commence an investigation. People are quick to call APC but I wonder if they know the dynamics. Take rivers state and amaechi for example. The current governor is amaechis arch enemy and couldn't be accused of sheiding amaechi except the stealing was done done by both of them when the going was good, talk about self preservation. So why is the present governor who has all the documents of rivers state earnings and spending unable to investigate and prosecute amaechi. Amaechi has no immunity and any petition from him to efcc even though he can do it without efcc through a judicial commission of enquiry with full powers to punish, can't be swept away without leaking it to the public. So if the opposition government in rivers state has no evidence, who then would have? Think!!! It's not enough to shout aoc without presenting a single petition

  6. Hmm all these money no be beans oooo, 9ja I hail ooo.

  7. See the way they scattered the money shop, good for them

  8. Hahahah 'Dasuki could not have stolen $2.4b'....Jonathan 2016

The worst and stupidest ever president Nigeria had. Patience is thought to talk nonesense every single time but Jonathan is actually the master of stupid Jonathan and his clique gathered and used the sub head 'boko haram arms importation' to get from the treasury, knowing ab initio that they were not going to use it for that purpose (419) is being traced and retrieved, yet he and his band of clowns are still talking nonsense.

  9. The noose is tightening, when they appear in court, they wil call Jonathan as witness to the fact that Jonathan approved every singe disbursement to every individual and company and then cross examination would follow

  10. Does it it mean the will be allowed to go free after returning the loot? The laws is for the Poor and not for the rIch. Please how can I have my name displayed here apart from anonymous?
