Army Sources Say IPOB Leader, Kanu Is Not In Military Custody + What His Brother Said

Authoritative sources from the Nigerian Army have said the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, is not in military custody.

The sources, from the army headquarters, Abuja, and the 82 Division headquarters, Enugu State, which coordinates Operation Python Dance II, revealed on Thursday that Kanu was not arrested or detained, as being speculated.

Kanu’s lawyers on Wednesday filed a suit before the Federal High Court in Abuja praying for an order, directing the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai, to produce Kanu in court.

The lawyers, led by Ifeanyi Ejiofor, had declared Kanu missing, saying the IPOB leader was last seen after the September 14 invasion of his residence in Afara-Ukwu area of Abia State by soldiers.

But an authoritative source from the army headquarters said,

“If you follow the trends of things, the army has not been talking about a proscribed group. If someone says he does not know where Kanu is, who gave him the authority to file a motion against the army?

“We don’t want to be drawn into this propaganda. For goodness sake, if we have Kanu, of what use is it if we keep quiet? We have never been secretive. Nobody prompted us before we came out to talk about Egwu Eke II starting in the South-East. Nobody prompted us before we came out to say that despite all the pressures, we were not withdrawing the operation. The exercise is still ongoing.”

Also, the source from 82 Division headquarters, Enugu, who did not want his name in print, replied an enquiry through a text message.

“Kanu is not with us. And I am not aware of his whereabouts,” it read.

But Kanu’s younger brother simply identified as Fine Boy, had on September 17 refused to reveal where his brother was, adding that only the IPOB leader could disclose his hiding place.

He said, “Only my brother can tell Nigerians where he is, I can’t. I don’t know why the Army should call IPOB a terrorist organisation, it is out of their desperation to arrest Nnamdi and frustrate the Biafran struggle. We have petitioned the United Nations and the European Union.

“…Nnamdi will soon disclose his current location and IPOB will also react to the proscription of the group by the South-East Governors’ Forum.”

Soldiers allegedly invaded his house on September 14.

  1. Let him remain hiding, we want peace in Nigeria, he should not come out again, I am an igbo and I hate Kanu with a passion, he has a reason to be angry but going the wrong way and creating problem for the innocent ones, stupidity.

    1. My dear anonymous 100 thumbs up for you. I am also Ibo but I detest Kanu with a passion. We need peace in Nigeria o. We have had leaders in the South East who didn't do anything in their states e.g.T.A Orji of Abia those are the people they should attack for the underdevelopment of the region before going to the federal government

  2. The man is in hiding probably not in the country.
    Lying brother.

  3. The army and the federal govt should ignore these circus clowns.

Rather than admit there leader is hiding in a hole or has escaped to a neighbouring country, they are trying to play on people's intelligence.

I remember the brother granted an interview clearly stating he couldn't disclose the whereabouts of Kanu for safety reasons and it is up to Kanu to do so.

Please quit playing games, we know Kanu is hiding and shame no gree am come out after threatening fire and brimstone.

  4. The military should provide nnamdi Kanu.

    1. Go to force headquarter and tell them that. Okay

  5. Na now day break? It took them this long to realize that Kanu is missing? Why did they all keep quiet? His father? His brother? Biafra or death, small issue, dude ran for his precious life.

  6. Kanu wey don bail since! Make una dey there dey deceive unaself.

  7. I laff in English. The brother forgot he already said only kanu can disclose his whereabouts. Kanu was trying to avoid going to court because he flawed all his bail conditions and knew he was not coming back from the court. He needed excuse not to appear in court. Loyal leader. Mr. I can die for biafra. Only one day and he vamoosed. Let me come and be going jare. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

  8. Kanu and his ipob miscreants know how whereabouts. After all his brother he would not disclose his location when asked the last time.
