Federal Government Releases $1m For Free Contraceptives For Nigerians

On Wednesday, the Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole said that the Federal Government has released $1m for the delivery of contraceptives for the enhancement of quality family planning among Nigerians.

Adewole said this on Wednesday while briefing State House Correspondents at the end of a meeting of the Federal Executive Council presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

According to him, procurement for the implementation of the plan had been secured. He said following a presidential approval of the joint venture agreement between the Federal Government and May&Baker for the production of local vaccines, a board had been constituted on January 19 to oversee the venture.

Consequently, he said Nigeria would begin to produce its vaccines within the next two years. Adewole added that the government was fine-tuning arrangements for the enrolment of 320,000 members of the National Youths Service Corps for the National Health Insurance Scheme yearly.

  1. So this is the problem Nigerians are facing now... family planning. Whatever happened to creating better working conditions and good atmospheres for businesses to thrive. What about the healthcare sector, education, agriculture, transport, etc. I wonder who advises the government on these things.

  7. Instead of them to build refineries even if na small ones to produce more pms instead of importing, na condom dem wan import. Msceww! Misplaced priority. If they want to control population, they should place an incentive for parents with only 3 kids or less.

  8. This is better than having Fulani terrorists decimate an unsuspecting population. Importantly, this exercise needs to be focused on northern Nigeria where men marry an average of four wives over their life span despite inability to provide for said illiterate women and innumerable kids. Gaskiya.
