Nigerian Troops Rescue Over 700 Farmers And Fisher Men Held Captive By Boko Haram

The Deputy Director Public Relations 8 Division Nigerian army, Colonel Timothy Antigha said that the rescue of the farmers and fishermen from their abductors was a follow up operation conducted a few days ago by Operation DEEP troops in Chikin gudu and surrounding localities.

Another follow up operation was conducted by the Nigerian Air Force and 38 Task Force Artillery Brigade, 8 Division, Operation LAFIYA DOLE and was targeted at destroying Boko haram infrastructure and logistics.

The destruction of their infrastructures therefore aided in the escape of their abductees from the islands to Monguno.

Over 700 former Boko Haram abductees made up of males, females and children were received by the troops of 242 Battalion in Monguno, amongst which are two pregnant women who gave birth in the holding centres yesterday.
