Osun State Ranked Second Wealthiest State In Nigeria

Osun state has been placed as the second wealthiest among the 36 states of the federation, according to a report released on Monday.

The Financial Derivatives Company, revealed this in its report, titled: “How the States Performed in 2017.” The Managing Director Bismark Rewane, said in one of the top three economic analysis in Nigeria, Osun had the lowest net Federal Account Allocation Committee(FAAC) allocation but was not delinquent in the payment of salary arrears.

The report also showed that Osun is the second best in the measured “Misery Index” with a 16.37 per cent inflation rate, which also sums up with the rate of under-employment and unemployment thereby ranking the state as second less miserable and poverty-stricken state in 2017.

*One would think it would be Akwa Ibom or Delta states

  2. The report was misunderstood by the public as journalists missed the point. Misery index is the addition of unemployment and inflation rate. It is used to measure how miserable the people are at very point in time. The inflation rate is very low in Osun state due to low level of income to the people. Underemployment level is also low as those employed are being owed salaries. This explains why the misery index is low. It has nothing to do with being wealthy. Bismarck called in on Channels tv this morning to clear the air. Politicians want to use the report as a campaign tool when we all know that the state which happens to be my origin is impoverished..
