EFCC Says There Will Be No Vote Buying During The 2019 Polls

Ahead of the 2019 general elections, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has vowed to monitor the movement of huge sums of money in the activities of political parties.

The EFCC also stated that it would prevent politicians from sharing money at party conventions or at polling centres. The Chairman of the EFCC, Mr. Ibrahim Magu, said this during a programme, ‘Question Time’, on Channels Television.

He said, “We are working with INEC to make sure that we seal every window, and every leakage before the election. We will block any avenue where people can move a lot of money either physically in cash or through banks.

We will prevent people from using money to buy votes or use money during conventions for delegates. We have machinery in place.

  1. They be vote buying, EFCC. Many people in Nigeria are still hungry. A cup of rice, cube of Maggi and satchet of salt will still convince some local women to vote for a part candidate. ..

  2. Does this man live in Nigeria? In this era where transfers can be done at the snap of the fingers? What we need is constant education and sensitization. If people collect money, chop and clean their mouth but still vote for whom the want, it will reduce politics of money or even eradicate it. This one is here talking nonsense

  3. It's not really about you want to ban sharing of campaign money.

Definitely money must be shared one way or another. A day before or on the D day etc.

But it's left for us to chop and clean mouth and vote for the right candidate.

So EFCC boss, it's better una start sensitisation of chop and clean mouth, operation collect and vote with your number SIX.

Oh my country. We will surely get there.
