The next few hours were spent begging bestie to temper justice with mercy. Her sugar daddy promised to settle her big time and asked that she forgives him for having his eyes on her friend. 

She demanded for a few weeks and he kept giving; until she decided she was going to put down her weapons and everyone was relieved. She deleted the video (or so they thought) and told Tess off, while she continued to milk her sugar daddy as compensation. 

He was nice and cool for about 4 months, then he decided to end it with her, explaining that his wife caught him texting her and he was sorry to end it this way. He also reminded her that he had made her happy and she can’t say he hasn’t been nice to her. She believed him. She tried dating a young single banker, but he was transferred to another state after two months and called to tell her that they would not work out because of tribal differences. He also explained that he was betrothed to someone else. She was hurt, but she moved on.

After their final exams, they had less three months to turn in their project. 

Tess’s wedding was holding like two months after, so she started circulating her wedding invitation amongst their friends. It was the talk of campus! 

Tess was getting married – traditional marriage in her village and white wedding in Dubai. Everyone got to know she was engaged to a Dubai-based guy and of course the whole talk about ‘bad girls ending up well’ kept coming up in conversation. Bestie was very upset, especially as she was back to being single and not finding a dependable sugar daddy. 

How could Tess just spoil her matter like this and be moving on to a dream life?

Interestingly, gossip had it that Mr. A had even given Tess money to renovate her father’s house, but Tess didn’t tell him it was for wedding. She said her grandmother died and there would be a big ‘celebration of life’ ceremony.

 She printed ‘fake’ invitation cards for the weekend after her white wedding and gave to Mr. A. She told him she would need to travel to Dubai to cool off after her project and get some rest. And that the occasion would be an opportunity for Mr. A to meet her nuclear and extended family and officially introduce himself as the man in her life. Mr. A happily doled out cool cash and promised to come with his friends. Tess’s big mouth didn’t save her this time, as Bestie could not handle it.


She searched for her flash drive and it seemed to have a virus in it, but after much luck she was able to stumble on that video – Yes, she saved it!! 

She went to Mr. A’s office one fine day, and was somehow able to see him. She cried as she showed him the video and told him Tess’s plans, lied that she knew the guy first and Tess was trying to betray both her and Mr. A. Mr.

 A was upset and hurt and decided to play along with Bestie to give Tess a taste of her own medicine. He told Tess he was travelling for a while to see his family, and would see her at the burial. They submitted their project and before Tess left town, she went to Bestie, apologized and asked that they start on a clean slate. She also asked Bestie to be her bridesmaid, said she would foot the travel costs to Dubai and pay for her dress too. Tess seemed to have everything sorted out and was tagging her fiancé on all her facebook pictures.

One week before the wedding, a blackberry pin created a group with all their friends in it. A video was uploaded to the group chat and it was the video of Tess and sugar daddy. Unfortunately, bad belle was not one-sided and the video somehow got to the fiance’s facebook inbox through another girl who had added the guy up on facebook, to sniff him up a bit......

Now, Tess would not permit anyone being mutual friends with Joe on facebook, and she told him this. But, the other girl used a fake account to set up shop and send the video. Then the drama started…. People sent the video around and everyone’s blackberry was bursting. 

By the time she started receiving phone calls, she called bestie crying. Bestie feigned not knowing how the video went out, but said she had to repair her phone between when she took it and when she deleted it (LIES), so it most likely came from the phones repair guy. Tess called Joe, he sounded normal and still in love. He said he left from work to do some last minute shopping at the mall, as he had so much to do before he travels to Nigeria, and he would talk to her as soon as gets home. She was happy he hadn’t seen it yet and hoped to get to the bottom of it before he does.

The whole day, Tess was calling bestie names, everyone wondering who owned the ‘strange’ BB Pin that created the group. Bestie denied and even started cursing whoever started this *yimu*. After a long tumultuous day, Tess remembered Joe hadn’t called her after his shopping. She called and called and called and he was not picking. She forgot he was a few hours ahead and had gone to bed by that time.

 She started panicking and went on to send him messages not to believe what anyone was saying, that she can explain, that she is being set up. By the next morning, Joe woke up to all sorts of messages from her and called to ask her if everything was alright. She said she was just having last minute paranoia and apologized. Her only plan was to ensure she gets married ASAP and she bragged about this to her friends.

Well, Joe flew in 2 days to the wedding, and complained to her that he couldn’t see the pre-wedding pictures she uploaded on facebook because he couldn’t remember the password, and he really didn’t have time to get that fixed right now, especially as he was not a social media person. She did not let him out of her sight.

 The ceremony held to everyone’s surprise, she ensured no one spoke privately to him apart from her family. Most people went to see what would happen, not necessarily wish her well and she knew. Mr. A showed up, but Tess composed herself very well and acted like he was regular guest. She had security on standby too. She also had her white wedding the week after, with no bridesmaids or friends present. She told hubby they could not afford tickets and even forfeited the tickets she got for bestie. 

There was no honeymoon, as Joe couldn’t get a long enough work break,

Tess thought she was enjoying her marriage, until about a month later, Joe came home very upset. He finally got on facebook to try and post some pics from his big day, and after reading all messages from his well-wishers (who saw his tagged pictures), he opened a message from a ‘stranger’ and got the disgusting video. He got both families involved and they started having issues. 

She had to come stay in Nigeria for a while, as the emotional torture was much.

 He said he wasn’t making babies with her until he was sure he wanted to continue the marriage. Her family was disappointed, because she had told them that fiancé gave her money to renovate the house before the wedding, so they all felt she was very greedy to still be sleeping with other men. She deleted her facebook page and went quiet for a while.

Bestie was still jealous that things didn’t go as planned, so she and Mr. A found solace in each other’s arms. She got pregnant for Mr. A and tried replacing Tess. He told her he didn’t like her as much, and she would have to abort because he has realized after Tess that girls ain’t loyal. Bestie wasn’t having it, and spent most of her pregnancy trying to make him take responsibility.

 The baby was stillborn.

Oh! And after the baby was stillborn, she mourned so much that she had to call Tess to confess and apologize. She insisted she was not the one who sent it to Joe on facebook but Tess did not know what to believe anymore.
