Raymond Chinwata, 46, had stolen little Chigaemezu stolen from her parents’ house at No 3 Onyekwere Street, Okpoko, Ogbaru Local government area, a suburb near Onitsha.
The spokesman, for Anambra State Police Command, SP Haruna Mohammed, said Mr Monday Eze, father of the girl, had on Thursday 11th October reported the case of his missing daughter at Okpoko police division, prompting officers of the division to launch a discreet investigation into the matter.
“Investigation was extended to Akata village in Okporo, Orlu LGA of Imo State where the stolen baby was recovered from one Augusta Nwaokwe ‘f’ aged 55 years who confessed to have bought the baby from Nnamdi Ogbu at the rate of N500,000(five hundred thousand naira).”
SP Haruna further said that all four suspects have confessed their levels of involvement in the offence, and that the case will be charged to court for prosecution immediately after investigation.

ReplyDeleteWhen God is at work. How can you steal a child of 6yrs. I wonder how people think. Why not go to an orphanage home and adopt a child, except if the purpose is for a ritual. Thank God the baby has been found.

Igbos and child stealing business. It's time government launch a campaign on how the adoption process work so ignorant ppl can learn. Why must one buy a child like a product? Of you can't have children go and adopt legally na. Awon greedy ppl.
