Speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria in Abuja, Arkwright warned that anyone caught flouting the rule would be denied entry into the UK for at least 10 years.
“I know there is a feeling in Nigeria that we refuse visas more often than we accept them. That is not the case.
“We are not trying to keep Nigerians out; but it is important Nigerians stick to the rules when they are there in the same way that you in Nigeria would expect British people to obey the rules here.
“Sadly, there are a few Nigerians who provide forged documents. We know when a document is forged and that is an automatic 10-year ban.”
According to the envoy, Nigerians are welcome in the UK, as some Nigerians living there are making very serious contributions to the British economy and other sectors.
He said that the British High Commission received about 80, 000 visa applications annually, adding that about 70 per cent of those applications were successful.
He said that 90 per cent of visa applications were from students wanting to study in the UK.
Arkwright further advised those seeking visas to apply “in good time’’ and also ensure they have the required documents ready.
He stressed that it was important for an applicant to have sufficient funds in their bank accounts which should have been in the account for a minimum of 28 days.
The British High Commissioner noted that the visa application was an online process and the High Commission was “working hard to streamline the process’’.

ReplyDeleteWell i pity anyone who forges documents to apply for visa. Its very wrong and u will be banned for life. Forget that ten year story. Who will give visa to someone that has a history of forging and has previously been banned?

Well personally I forged my statement of account and sponsor letter to get my visa and yes I got it. I left Nigeria some 3 weeks ago.

DeleteIt's been like that for ages naa. Forging documents is too much sef. My friend was BANNED for 10 years because she said in her application that she doesn't know anyone in the UK and will be staying in a hotel. When she got to the UK, heathrow airport, she filled I her landing card that she will be going to her friends house. She was detained and deported for lying in her application and was BANNED for 10 years...For lying.

ReplyDeleteIt's a problem that opens door for more other problem too. Once u r banned in 1 country or flagged for fraud, forgery, criminal offence etc. Other countries too will be notified on database & they'll also deny u visa / entry.

In this day & age (with electronic system database ID info) all over the world, why would any 1 with their correct mind do mischief with visa or getting their papers abroad???
Yeah. True to some extent. But I don’t think most countries follow that rule of law of what affects one in this country could affect in another. Unless it has to do with fraud and jail stuff. A friend of mine was given the 10 year ban and some years after she applied to US and she was given sef.

DeleteThis is not a lie. There's this friend of my friend that got 10years ban after trying to apply (maybe this was the reason).
ReplyDeleteBut there's nothing without a solution. That same month, she paid a million naira (that's what she said) to an agent who after about two months got them to cancel the 10years ban and gave her 6months UK visa.
She went for a month, got engaged and is getting married December. She wants to go back married before the visa expires
She says she wants to do this before they revisit her 10years ban issue. Lol

ReplyDeleteThey have been doing it tey tey naa. I know someone that forged papers and the embassy even called her to come for interview. And to think that UK don’t really grant interviews. The lady refused to go oh cos she knew they had probably caught her in the lie. The agent wey encourage the forged document comot hand for the matter and warned her not to show face there. Well they gave her a ten-year ban sha. She has been servicing it diligently.
