Actress Omotola Says Nigeria Is Ready For A Female President.....

Star actress, Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde, has insisted that Nigeria is now ready for a female president.

In a chat with Sunday Scoop, Omotola said, “What else do we need to be as women? You have to agree with me that a lot of women are doing almost better than men now. We all know that women are now in charge of some households and we all know that women are good at organising as well as handling responsibilities. I think Nigeria is ready for a female president.”

Speaking ahead of the 2019 general elections, the actress urged Nigerians to desist from voting for young people without checking their records. She said, “I am very impressed with the participation of young people in politics today. Years ago, these people were not interested in politics. But I don’t think we should vote for people because they are young, as it will be misleading. We must ensure they are credible by asking questions. I think we should look out for their track records.

“I urge Nigerians not to allow people to intimidate them again. They shouldn’t vote for people because they feel they will win. Instead, vote for someone you believe in even though the person will get only two votes. We cannot continue to choose the lesser evil; we have to desist from that.”

*I dont agree that Nigeria is ready for a female President..How can that be when even Nigeria is yet to accept a young person as Presidential candidate?
The mindset of most Nigerians is too backward and i sadly say that we have a long way to go in Nigeria before things fall into place!

    2. This woman being overrated and hyped has gotten to her little brain and who do I blame, the gullible ones!! 3. Stella, how many people in the US and Germany vote in young people into major political power? Please be honest and mention their names and positions. Let us not deceive ourselves. We don’t need the mindset of starting to vote in young people. That is not what makes a good and vinbrant democratic system. Nigeria had so many young people in their 30s and early 40s rule Nigeria for decades. How old was Tafawa Balewa, Nnamdi Azikiwe, Murtala Muhammad, Yakubu Gowon, Obasanjo and Buhari (during their military leadership position as heads of state)? So if that is how having a ‘forward’ mindset means then Nigeria started that early before most of these so-called advanced countries of today.

    4. Omotola should have at least rolled out names of some women if her post is to be taken seriously but she didn't even mention one.
It seems she is trying to convey a message that she is the "only woman"

      My thoughts ooooo.

  5. Nigeria and Nigerians are not ready for female president!
Many Nigerian women still sees men and other women as competitors and they look down on them.
I am talking about Nigerian women in politics... Please, take a good look at them and tell me one qualified one? They are all there to get rich and wealthy and be slapping people around.

Nigerians should first of all, vote for sowore and make him president and then, we will start searching for vibrant women with no black or red pen mark to their names.

Young women should start building themselves (not by bringing men or other women down) without sentiment for the future.

Since you requested one, I'll give you just one.

Her name is Hon. Nnenna Ukeje, a campaigner for child and women rights. Pls feel free to Google the name and go thru her works.

There are so many Nigerian women doing great things. We should celebrate them and not "badmouth" them.

  6. I don't think we are ready yet, these old men have refused to leave politics for the young ones not to talk of women.

  7. In my opinion, Nigeria is not ripe for a female president because the average Nigerian man sees a woman as subservient to him - a second class citizen.

The average Nigerian does not RESPECT a woman and thinks he's the only one that should be in the position of authority and not a woman. Some believe a woman should only be SEEN and not HEARD, and her place is only in the kitchen and the other room.

The Nigerian culture doesn't empower a woman to aspire to greatness but represses them.

So the country isn't ready to have a female president.

  9. Airhead! First we need female governors, then a female Vice President. Only then will we be ready for a female president.

It has to be Arithmetic progression and not just Geometric as suggested by Omotola

  10. The vast majority of women in Nigeria do not want to be governed by women. Until the majority of women want this it will not be a reality.
