Wives Jostle For Late Lawmaker’s Seat Even Before He Is Buried.

The widows of a late Ghanaian lawmaker have started their political campaigns to replace him.

Emmanuel Kyerematen Agyarko, who represented Ayawaso West Wougon in Ghana’s Parliament before his death is yet to be buried but his wives are already jostling for his seat, reports Adomonline.
The widows, Lydia Agyarko and Nana Agyarko have already printed posters and other campaign materials.

It was reported that as of Monday, the duo and their supporters were seen engaging the electorate, even before the electoral body has announced details of the bye-election.

Meanwhile, some party faithful in the constituency have stormed the party headquarters, to state that their preferred candidate is Lydia.

According to the group, Madam Lydia Agyarko is the best replacement for her husband.

“Mama Lydia has been with her husband throughout his service to the constituency and we believe she is the best person to continue her husband’s legacy,” one supporter claimed.
They also revealed their displeasure with the decision of the first wife of the late MP, Nana, to participate in the upcoming bye-elections.

“We won’t sit idle for the national executives to impose their candidate on us. The bye-election is not just about picking someone but a person who is known at the grassroots and familiar with the people,” the group said.
Meanwhile, third National Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Omari Wadie, has disclosed that eleven people including some former footballers are battling to grab the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency seat.
