Dele Odule Talks About Actors Who Flaunt Their Wealth On The Social Media..

Veteran actor, Dele Odule, believes that there are many actors in Nollywood who really have no business being in the industry.

Baring his mind on actors who often flaunt material possessions on social media, Odule told Sunday Scoop, “People like that are not in the business because they have passion for it. They are just looking for where to make ends meet.

A trained actor will never run after material wealth. I am not saying that acting cannot open doors; it actually does.

However, a true actor will take material things as secondary; the priority is to get your message across to the viewers. The problem we are facing is that the industry is not sanitised. If there was a standard, many of those people you see who are all about flaunting material things on social media wouldn’t be in the industry. What is the essence of going on social media to flaunt cars and other items? You would see many actresses dancing around on social media; even when they get pregnant, they flaunt it. Buying a car shouldn’t be a big deal but they make it seem as if it is.”

Commenting on the effect such acts would have on young ones, Dele said, “They are passing a wrong message to the young ones out there who will have a warped impression of the industry.”

Drawing a line between following politicians for pecuniary gains and for the good of the country, the former TAMPAN president said, “Somebody who is serious-minded and creative would not run after any politician. That is not to say that actors don’t have the constitutional right to follow whoever they like. However, you have to follow rightly. You have to know the reason you are following the person. (Hubert) Ogunde followed Awolowo and we all know that the latter was a politician who did a lot for his people.

But now, actors just follow politicians because of money. I don’t really like to talk about this because some people may feel that I am talking this way because I have not had the privilege to mingle with such people. I have the opportunity but my passion for the industry is beyond unnecessary things.”

  1. I see nothing wrong in people flaunting their wealth. Abeg people should allow these actors and actresses to drink water and drop the cup in peace. even if they get the money by sleeping with politicians, they have the right to flaunt it. everybody cannot be quiet and calm. if you are tired of seeing their post on the gram, kindly scroll pass it or block them. simple! Allow those that wanna flaunt their wealth to do it in peace biko

    1. Whenever I see this man, I just remember Bisi Komolafe and how he threatened that she would never be heard from again when he stormed her movie set and demanded they shut it down because of something that happened between them that no one would disclose. He kept saying she needed a card or something like that but she kept asking why he was asking her and not her male colleagues whenever they had their own movie sets. She said he told her she would never be heard from again. And that was Bisi's last interview. Next thing we all heard that she died in childbirth. And true true, nobody heard from her again. Her interview videos where she addressed their altercation are still online. Hmmmmm.

  4. He is right, when you flaunt too much people begin to question your source of wealth, forgetting we live in a world where people don't want others to succeed.are you not seeing mercy aigbe explaining her source of wealth everytime, just because she likes to flaunt, people are still calling her names. Why flaunting your wealth? Am sure Stella dimoko is making money from blogging too,me personally don't know anything about her finances.when you are too loud about your wealth, bitter people will want to pull you down.

  5. Let us see if Madam Liz Anjorin will react as she did when Ronke Oshodi Oke cautioned those who liked to flaunt. Of course,Lizzy will not respond...she just used that opportunity to let people know that Oshodi Oke was struggling financially. Nasty Nancy!

  7. Truth and dignity was the message of Dele Odule in this interview, most of the artist today lacks that, just last week, you see a lot of them sending condolences to their indistry god father( mc oluomo) on his sick bed. The industry lacks professionalism n integrity, what you see
    are touts appendages. Sad!!!

  8. If you have a problem with the message Dele Odule has just passed across, then I'm scared for the future of your children because they will learn the wrong thing from all these materialistic ones and you'll now complain later!
