APC Blames INEC And PDP For The Postponement Of Elections

Here we go!!!!!

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, has reacted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) decision to postpone the Presidential/National Assembly and Gubernatorial/House of Assembly Elections to Saturday, February 23, 2019, and Saturday, March 9, 2019, respectively.

Festus Keyamo, Director, Strategic Communications, in a statement Saturday morning, condemned what he called the tardiness of the electoral umpire.

He said President Muhammadu Buhari had since cooperated fully with INEC by ensuring everything it demanded to conduct free and fair elections were promptly made available to it.

“This news is, therefore, a huge disappointment to us and to our teeming supporters nationwide and around the world, many of whom have come into the country to exercise their franchise”, the statement reads.

“We do hope that INEC will remain neutral and impartial in this process as the rumour mill is agog with the suggestion that this postponement has been orchestrated in collusion with the main opposition, the PDP, that was never ready for this election.

“We note that all the major credible demographic projections have predicted a defeat of the PDP and it seriously needed this breather to orchestrate more devious strategies to try and halt President Buhari’s momentum. It did the same as the ruling Party in 2015, when it realized the game was up, by orchestrating the postponement of the 2015 elections by six weeks. Now, it may be up to its old trick again.

“We have earlier raised the alarm that the PDP is bent on discrediting this process the moment it realized it cannot make up the numbers to win this election. We are only urging INEC not collude with the PDP on this.

“We are truly worried because as early as Friday morning, some known PDP Social Media influencers unwittingly announced this postponement, but quickly deleted the message and apologized to the public that it was fake news. We do not want to be forced to a situation of announcing our total loss of confidence in INEC, because we know where that would leave our democracy.

“It is in the light of the above that we wish to appeal to Nigerians and our supporters to be patient, calm and resolute despite this temporary setback. Let us not give anyone, especially the PDP, the opportunity to plunge this nation into a crisis, which is what they earnestly desire. Its imminent defeat is just a few days away.

“Lastly, we wish to draw the attention of INEC and the world to observe that the PDP has clearly and openly said it plans to announce parallel results through some funny device it has procured or developed.

“We wish to reiterate that it is only INEC that is legally and constitutionally empowered to declare results and it constitutes an offence for anyone to do so. We urge INEC to speak up now and warn the PDP to desist from this ignoble act that is capable of plunging the nation into a crisis of immeasurable proportions.”

  3. APC suddenly becomes the opposition party. How can PDP influence the commission? Who do the commission report to? Festus Keyamo a.k.a Miss otobo is a disgrace of a SAN. Now I know why his becoming a SAN was delayed and took him so long. How can a man who spent many years in learning, comes up with such irrational statement? When will the blame game from a ruling party stop? So irresponsible set of hooligans drunk in power.

  23. INEC is an independent parastatal. Let's all stop this blame game ( It's PDP fault vs it's APC fault) and still go out to vote whenever they are ready.

God bless Nigeria and lead uu to vote the right candidate.

I think voters should restrategize this one week and vote a young ,fresh candidate.

    1. If you really think the “I” in INEC stands for Independent then I’m sure you don’t know how Nigeria is being run. We shall know if it’s truly independent if APC and it’s governorship candidate is printed on the ballot paper come February 23rd.

    1. What do you expect from a party whose president only occupation before becoming President, was rearing of aturu(cows)?

      Delete
    2. Lol.... aturu is sheep not cow. It's ehi (cow) Buhari you and your cohorts will have no peace. This country isn't your personal property that you will be messing with people like they're the cows in your village. As long as the God of heaven sits on the throne, Nigeria will be great again. Ndi igbo forming biafra upandan sheepishly following Nnamdi Kanu, better go and collect your Pvc, he won't be there to save you when wahala starts!

      Delete
  31. When I said hold your PVC then go and pray cos you don't want to know the kinds of deals being made in secret by evil men and women, it was like "This one too dey talk about prayer". Let me tell you people now: this postponement is the least of what they planned. They actually hope that there will be no election, that they can cause enough frustration for some people to say "Let's forget it" and others to start behaving like animals causing anarchy, then the military can return. And that will be the beginning of another thing. Things are much worse than they appear, and this isn't a plan that was conceived a month ago. They've been planning for years. People that say they're going to church today, forget those prosperity prayers. They will not be able to help you if the plans that the cabal behind Buhari, come to pass. Better use that same energy you normally use to pray for prosperity to beg God to have mercy on this land, unveil for us leaders after His heart, and unseat Buhari quickly in whatever way He pleases. And determine to vote, no matter what.
