Iya Ibeji Series - Married To A Yahoo Boy

What a shocker!!!

I recently went to the neighbourhood where I grew up in Lagos, and I saw this girl that we grew up together though I'm much older than her, she was driving a very powerful car and I was stunned.

Let's call her Ranti, I saw Ranti in this very serious ride and I had to ask questions, and I was told it's hers, her husband bought it for her. Not only that but the husband also bought a car for her father.

My amebo antenna went up ........

The first question I asked was "is her husband a Yahoo boy?" Then I begged God forgive me for being so judgemental, but I just couldn't see the man in another profession and here is why......

Ranti isn't a very enlightened and educated person. So I was thinking what will her husband be involved in to afford to give her father a car. Not like the man was celebrating his birthday or any other occasion.

An oil company worker won't marry Ranti na, I started naming different profession. Telecom?banker? Then I would calculate the worth of the cars and it would still fall into Yahoo.
(Yes sometimes I have too much time on my hands and I just help other people evaluate their lives.)

So I asked another person and she affirmed that Ranti's husband is Yahoo guy. She also said the guy built a shopping complex for her and she has a super market there.

I just couldn't help but wonder why her Father would marry off his daughter to a Yahoo guy? What if when maga stops paying and he decides to use her for rituals? Or use her pants, because that's what they do.

As I was leaving, Ranti drove pass and she was almost unrecognisable, money is good o. The lady walking with me said " Life is very unpredictable, who would have thought Ranti would make it before us? Ranti that can't even make a sentence".

Sometimes there are people we grew up with and we just mentally calculate that we would be more successful than them person because the odds were in our favour, and when they appear to have made it before us,Whether through legitimate or illegitimate means, we are left dumb founded and asking a million questions......

  1. Same way I reasoned that after school I would get a job immediately being the daughter of a rich man. Funny enough, my poor friends got married first and got good jobs and lived comfortable lives. At a point I stopped believing what they put on the gram.

Na only you. I started using human hair from university that my elder ones gave me. married immediately after service na so my life start to curve o. Lol. Job I no get, money I no get. Though I am not begging but mehn I just look at all my set mates and people I pass. Omo!!! I am behind. I am exactly the same way I was before I married plus kids. No addition,no personal accomplishments or progress. Sometimes I regret thinking I had arrived after marriage. I am ashamed of myself. I wish I had settled 1st before I married. Well I cant say anything but I know this 2019 things must definitely change as in it must change.

    3. Only God can determine who will make it and how soon it will be.I was among the poorest of my friends in school but during NYSC I found grace.Met a good man who was ready to give me his all.He is a patner at a consulting firm in the U.K. I keep wondering how God made our path cross. We are happily married now with a child,We live in our own property,We have chains of businesses I am in total control of and I touch lives in every possible way.
My friends keeps wondering how i did it because while they are struggling to go on vacation once a year,I travel to different countries more than 6times in a year. They will always buy 200k aso ebi and padlock weight jewelries to impress when they know our path will cross but I will still command more respect and attention in my maxi gown and flat slippers.
Apart from the fact that your friend's husband source is not a clean one.Anyone's story can transform for good no matter the situation.I am a product of grace.

Anon13:43 if I was in my father's house I would have gotten a job or relocated abroad cos my parents would have joined forces to help me. Also I would have gotten a job without fuck fuck or any reason because I would not have the responsibility of thinking about my children before thinking of a job option. Also if I leave this marriage today I no go fuck fuck up and down because of money .I will make decision that would favour me without affecting anybody's life .if I am selling akara I can sell akara from morning till night without being responsible for any1. But with a family you must consider your children first before you can take any decision.

    6. Anon 15:14 - You don't know what would have happened if you were still in your father's house. You are only speculating cos life didn't turn out how you think it should have. You took a lot for granted, made a lot of assumptions and yourey still doing so in your current state. Not everyone abroad has a job. Some people fall sick and die abroad - not all of them are children of the poor. Your parents are not God, no matter what you think they would have done for you. Rich men's children also lack jobs. Sometimes, even daddy's connections cannot open all doors.

It is a good thing you've come to the end of your rope, and I'm not being mean. Where you are is exactly where you're supposed to be, cos that's where God can reach you and have your attention. Ask God honestly, what you're supposed to be doing - instead of being resentful. People that started multi-million Naira businesses or consultancies from their kitchen tables, that God blessed - they don't have 10 heads.

  2. This story reeks of jealousy, and unnecessary pettiness. You find it hard to believe ranti drives a 'big car' because her husband married her irrespective of her not being up to 'your standard'. Thereby finding someone who shares in your belief that he is into fraud so as to make you feel better.

My uncle is a senior lawyer, he has his own chamber, but his wife can’t spell something as simple as ‘shoe’. Don’t conclude because she isn’t up to your standard then she can’t get an educated man but a yahoo boy.

Sometimes I feel so jealous honestly. The guy that wants to marry me , is still contemplating in using 700k for our trad and wedding, I'm really feeling bad. I wish he is rich, I want to marry someone that is already made, but I don't come across them at all. This life sef. The other of my friend is in Dubai for her honeymoon. All my coursemates and friend are married to rich men and they are all happy, currently deactivated my Facebook account. This life is not about being smart, she how all their level changed with marriage and I'm still here, I feel so bad. But I still thank God.

You are one of the people that prepare for wedding but not for marriage. If you continue like this, your crash chronicle will soon land here. So the measure of successful marriage is how much that was spent during the wedding? You are the one that will soon drive your husband into yahoo; that is if you do not do one yourself.

More than ten years ago, I spent about 50k naira to wed. With kids and much peace, I do not wish for another husband other than the one I married.

    7. Anon 13:11 - I mean this in the kindest way possible; don't allow covetousness destroy you. Are you marrying because it's right for you? Or is your life so empty that a pepper dem wedding that will break social media, is the only way you can get validation?

My dear, most of what you think you see on social media isn't real, oh. I married secretly; till today, many of the people who think they know me, have NO idea. Money wasn't a problem. I'm successful in my own right, as is my husband. But there's no trace of my wedding on social media. Contrast that with a pepper dem wedding that scattered the internet, a while ago. I happen to know that the bride paid for the entire wedding. But you will not see that info on social media. And there were a lot of other things happening behind the scenes that people on social media didn't see. Juju flying upandan. Even worse, many of the bridesmaids abi aso-ebi women who were married at the time of that wedding are no longer married. People's marriages started to pack up. This is not "dem say". I woke up the morning after the wedding, vomiting and stooling - turned out to be a good thing cos my system was rejecting poison.

The point of this story I can't even tell in full? Don't allow nonsense you think you see to make you feel inferior. If you know what people do to trend, you will tell your fiance to do the trad with 100K sef and keep the change for something better.

      Delete
    8. @ 13:23 you're the one calling him her fiance. Has she claimed him? See how she described him as the guy that wants to marry her. As if he's one random person that she met on the road. A woman who truly loves and wants a man will be doing "my fiance", "my husband to be", "my boo", "my man" upandan.

      Delete
    9. I hate to see this 'oh, they're rich so they must have their secret tears so don't be jealous of them.'

No. Don't be jealous of them cos life is different for everyone. Be happy for others when good things happen to them so good will come to you too. Don't minimize other's happiness by saying there must be some 'comma'in it; that is to make you feel good about not having What they have and it is wrong....be contented and j0yful while working hard and praying for more of Gods grace

    10. Thank you @3.56. Well said.

I don't know why people always like to diminish the joy of those who have, because they don't.

Social Media deception isn't done by everyone. Some people are balling and living the good life inside out. It's as simple as that.

    3. Honestly I felt somehow about the story, as the poster was putting down Ronti and trying to allude that she didn't deserve the best in life.

But the truth is that deep down a lot of us feel that way. We wonder how people we felt we were better than are now doing better than us today. Maybe we were so brilliant, or Miss goody two shoes or Mr good guy and some of us were rich etc. These are things people think but don't admit. Even on this blog you see stories like I married as a virgin, yet my husband maltreats me, as if being a virgin determines quality of husband. So it is easy to bash Iya Ibeji, but she only highlighted the ugly truth about most of us. Even those who are seemingly making it are caught up in the rat race of keeping up with the Joneses. I hope we all learn to be content.

Sometimes in evaluating your lives I think it is ok to note how well or not you are doing to seek redress, but the issue is we take comparison with others overboard and do away with gratitude to our Maker for what we have. And believe me, even the air we breathe is something to be grateful for.

Bible says godliness in contentment is great gain. The Bible also says beware of covetousness because a man's life does not consist of what he has. The Bible asks of what profit it is for a man to gain the world and lose his soul. The Bible says the race is neither to the swift nor the battle to the strong, but time and chance happens to them all. So I have paraphrased these scriptures to show the importance of contentment and the state of the soul.

  12. You need Jesus! Cos it's your bitterness that won't let you be great. "Oil company worker won't marry Ranti" - says who? Are you God? Is there a special market oil company workers go to buy wife, that Ranti won't be found? What is so special about an oil company worker? That means if you discover that Ranti is married to the son of the owner of the oil company, nko? You should have also said that Ranti was so dumb in school, that there's no way you thought she would learn to drive a car.

You and your informant sound exactly like the witches I went to secondary school, with. How many years later - even the ones that got married long before me, have failed in life. Some of them had children before me yet no joy. If they had had to wait as long as I did, maybe they would have committed suicide? Cos they were bent on competing with someone who was never competing with them. How can you be in a competition with someone in your mind, yet you're still losing? And you're sure you don't fly at night? Ranti's monitoring spirit - don't use the energy you're using to calculate another person's supposed financial worth, to ask God for mercy to cleanse your black heart and fix your life. It's your type that will be used for rituals cos of what you see on Instagram.

  15. I like the fact that you bared your true emotions without sugar-coating it. You are envious but again you are human afterall. Learn a little lesson from this though: The race is not to the swift but by God who showeth mercy. It is in Ranti's destiny to be wealthy whether or not she married a yahoo boy. And do you remember our former first lady, Patience Jonathan? A PhD holder married her despite her cut-and-sew English and they rose to the number one spot in this country. It's not by grammar or academic/social qualifications dearie.

I despise ritualists fronting as yahoo boys but there are many highly educated women who are married to them and others praying to marry them as their ticket to a 'gram-perfect' life. As for you, be content with your peace of mind and keep praying for good success. You don't know the burdens in Ranti's heart despite the wealth. You don't know the nature of the sacrifices she had to make for her wealth. Be content.

And I read some things that make me SMH. Please, what is wrong with selling eko pap? Don't some people eat akara or moi-moi with pap EVERY morning for breakfast in this country? You're looking down on someone because her mother did HONOURABLE work that fed probably thousands of people weekly? Not that she stole or sold her body or did rituals. Wifey de gbagaun like no mans business and he love her dieeeee!!!! Another one of my friends only went to secondary school but this same America she gets jobs that graduates will struggle to get and her kids go to schools that graduated will struggle to enter. She de gbagaun too like madddd! But oyinbo forgive her and claim English is not her first language. Both ladies are lovely people. This is probably why God has blessed them so much as he sees their heart. I, as educated as I am have been propelled by God from grace to grace. To places other women will fear to tread but it has been God all the way! I sometimes joke that I am God’s girlfriend because he alone takes care of me and fights viciously for me when I am hurt. It’s all grace and God’s hands showing in their lives most times. Don’t assume it’s illicit money. Successful men marry all kinds of women o!

  28. My sis God can bless anybody. Make u no looku down on anybody. I love the song.

When I was single, I was staying in a face me I slap u house. One of my friend living with her parents will always yab me that no man will take me serious for marriage that they don’t like girls that live alone. I look at my self and told God, look at me oo, I am not a wayward girl and I know ur ways are not ours. I was just trying to make my self better and make a honest living so I can help my parents in d village. Eventually, God sent someone to meet me in dat my cubbicle and we got married. But that’s not all I want in life. I’m still praying for God to open doors for me and elevate me beyond where I am now. This is just to say God doesn’t think like us. I got married and didn’t post a picture on the gram. I only told people with mouth when they see me with ring. So most were thinking there was no money for the wedding lol. That’s exactly how I want them to think o jarey.
my life is a testimony and I keep praying for God to bless all my friends.
