Army Arrests Electoral Offenders In Rivers, Imo And Abia States

The Nigerian Army said on Tuesday that it arrested no fewer than 20 persons in Rivers, Imo and Abia states for various electoral offences including ballot box snatching.

Its spokesman, Colonel Sagir Musa said the Army worked in conjunction with other security agencies to ensure a peaceful atmosphere for the conducts of the 2019 general elections.

Colonel Musa said in a statement issued in Abuja that despite the risk to the lives of soldiers especially in Rivers, the soldiers prevented thugs, kidnappers and ballot box snatchers from having a field day during elections.
From the nation..

Isnt arresting people the job of the Nigerian Police?

    1. The collation officer in charge of the Governorship election in Oyigbo Local Government Area, Good hope Igwe says he was forced to announce results by soldiers of the Nigerian Army.
He said that the soldiers invaded
the INEC collation center in Oyigbo.
Dr Igwe stated this in an interview with newsmen while narrating his ordeal during Saturday’s elections.
He said the soldiers threatened to kill him if he refused to announce the governorship results that were already written and brought from some where else .

  2. The Army should go and sit down, were they not the one snatching ballot boxes in Ricers state and forcing collation officers to declare wrong results to favour AAC? Or they think we don't know. Below is one of the report to press men granted by Oyigbo collation officer.

  3. The Fact Finding committee sent by the Headquarters of INEC  to investigate the attempt by the Nigerian Army to manipulate  the Rivers State Governorship Collation has swung into action.

Sources at the meeting informed that the committee requested duplicate polling unit results from security agencies and party agents who received same after voting.

Expectedly, sources at the meeting say that direct Collation of all polling units results have started in earnest.

Party agents and different security agencies entitled to duplicate copies have supplied  same  for direct Collation.

It was gathered  that with 19 Local Government Areas polling units results collated and computed for the Governorship Election in Rivers State,  PDP has 586,745, Votes while    AAC …51,521  has Votes .

After the closed door preliminary investigation and computations,  the public would be briefed and open declaration made.

As at press time, the computations  for three other Local Government Areas where elections  held were ongoing by the Fact Finding Committee.  Elections  did not hold in the 23rd LGA, Abua/Odual,  where soldiers frustrated the distribution of election materials.

The recourse to the Polling Units results was in line with the fact that it was where voting held and Accreditation via card readers took place. Results at this level are pure and verifiable.

  4. I am telling you. They can't fool us. We were on ground and saw all that happened. Nigeria can never be redeemed with lies like this.

  5. Nigeria Army did this, Nigeria Army did that nye, nye nye. Still I'm yet to find even one video evidence of any of these allegations. Isn't it pathetic when a ppl can't even tell that they are being manipulated so as to get security forces out of the territory and enable those who want to rig their way to electoral victory have a field day? Unfortunately for the would-be manipulators, not everybody is gullible. If anything, the Fed Gov should even multiply the number of troops in Rivers State, if that can ensure that the crazy orgy of violence witnessed in 2015, doesn't repeat itself!

  6. Thesame army that has been aiding ballot box snatchers in Rivers State?
Shame on the Nigerian Army! Posterity will never be kind with you...
Stella, you need to see Rivers State now, its like a war zone. Military men all over the place, intimidating and oppressing people.

  7. Around 9pm on Saturday, while counting recording of votes was going on in my LGA council, milltary men stormed the venue, demanding our ballot boxes (they wanted to disenfranchise us) but my people came together and said no. We gathered ourselves and asked us to kill everyone of us before they can take away the ballot boxes... Because they failed to steal ballot boxes, they want to manipulate votes at the state level. But shame on them because Rivers people are not cowards, our voice must be heard.

  8. The military will make the world assume we are troublesome, but they won't know we were jeje trying to cast our votes before these men came for us... We will not be intimidated. Our votes must count!
