Court Terminates Charges Against Late CDS Alex Badeh

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has terminated the charges against the late Alex Badeh, a former Chief of Defence Staff.

Badeh was shot dead by yet-to-be-identified gunmen on December 18, 2018, on his way back from his farm in Nasarawa State.

Before his death, he was standing trial alongside Iyalikam Nigeria Limited on an amended 10-count charge bothering on corruption.

Giving the ruling on Monday, the presiding judge, Okon Abang, also found Iyalikam Nigeria Limited, which is standing trial alongside Badeh, guilty of the charges of corruption filed against it by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

All properties belonging to Iyalikam Nigeria Limited were also ordered to be forfeited to the Nigerian government.

The judge said: “Having regard to the plea bargain and plea duly taken, I hereby find the defendant Iyalikam Nigeria Limited guilty. The defendant is hereby wound up and this judgement shall be served on the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) for necessary action.

“All properties in line with the 10-count charge are hereby forfeited to the Federal Republic of Nigeria through the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). In view of the fact that the first defendant in the original charge is reported dead, all charges against the first defendant are hereby terminated.”

  1. Terminating the charges makes no meaning if the government can't unravel those behind his death. So unfortunate they killed him. Those who killed him won't they die someday?

    1. TeeJay you really need to calm down with this present administration/government. Why would you be in support of corrupt ppl. Why will you pitch your tents with those who have selfishly stolen from the nation and making the country what it is today. We are all Nigerians. We crave for a better tomorrow and we pray for God's judgment on all those frustrating the growth of this nation. I watched Alex Badeh's burial ceremony and my sympathy was for his immediate family. The wife and children he left behind. Knowing that all he thought he achieved and gained fraudulently had been confisticated by the government. I will not speak evil of the dead even though there were bank transfers and even his accountant testified against him. We aren't kids. Every adult has been thought the difference between good and bad. Let each one thereby be accountable for his/her actions. For those corrupt leaders still coasting, the law will catch up with them and if the law doesn't, life has a way of leveling things out.

    2. Lade Taylors, I don't think your rejoinder is for my comment above. I don't see the correlation of both comments. Go back and read my comment again, but this time more carefully.

    3. What has one thing got to do with the other? How can the government pursue charges against a dead person? Who will attend court? What connection is there between this and the man of who killed him? The way you talk sometimes...

    4. So people that killed him shouldn't be brought to book? Are you kidding me? So when someone is assassinated, there shouldn't be need to unravel the perpetrators of the crime. This is ridiculous coming from a grown up like you. Now I know why killers of Marshall Harry, A.K Dikkibo, Bola Ige are all walking freely in the society.
