  1. Cajole, threaten, beg and bribe. One must surely work. Now it's first to finish gets a price and we hail the person. So so is a winner, so so is not a winner. Really draining

    1. This doesn't work for my child at all. She loves to eat in the company of other children and loves to eat a little at a time.
Knowing what works for your child is the best.

      Kitchen knife for what exactly?

    2. Kitchen knife ke? Mine always prepare my favourite food then and she still does anytime I'm with her. My other siblings will be grumbling and giving me side eyes. I will just tell them "orbii". It's not as if they wont devour the said " Tabitha's fav". They will even be praying I leave some for them as usual. Even with that, I'm still on the slim side while they are big and fat. I don't pray for my kids to be like me at all.

  3. Ok this is what i do...
I dont force her to eat, sometimes when i bring food, she tends to start running around and want me to chasing her about,so what i do is before it is meal time, i make sure my phone is fully charged. However, i subscribed to so many kids channel on youtube, so when i sit her down, i gv the phone to her and she knows what to do with it and boom before you know it, we are done eating and i take back my phone and give her her toys.
Just put an interesting kids video, i am sure the child will be convinced.

  4. I think parent show make their children eat with love.when I was young I saw eating as a shore but I love snacks alot and I love to drink coke, so when my mom gather these my weakness, she resolve to bribery "Eat this plate of eba, and I promise to give you one full bottle of coke" Did it work? Hell yes!!! But sometimes she will end up not even giving me the drink, but she achieved her aim.

Parents should please understand their children nothing comes out from violence. I remember in 2011 there was a woman in my street, her baby used to be fat then later he started loosing weight everybody was asking her what's wrong with the baby and that she should Try and be giving him food as it seems breast milk is no longer enough for him.mama ola started making custard for her baby, but the baby will always refuse to eat. On one sad day, She put the baby between legs put her hand close to his mouth and pour custard the baby was struggling in the process custard entered his nose,he started gasping for breath, that was when she knew something was wrong she shout everybody gather, they decided to rush the baby to the hospital at our junction before they got there the baby died. that woman was mad with grief that day.

    4. My baby stopped at 13months. Holandia Yougurt unflavored. But b4 then I will deny her and she will cry for hours, at least I did that for 3/4days b4 slightly introducing d Youga. Just like that she started forgetting breast

    5. Ms Tee, try blending ground nut, banana and egg and add to the pap. You can do pap+ groundnut + milk, pap + egg + milk, pap+ banana and milk to make the pap richer and help baby add some weight. Then try milk + milo or ovaltine for the baby as a snack in between.

  9. I pray none of my children eats like me because I eat like a whale.
I remember the time I visited my cousins in the city, the quantity of Rice they gave me that night was bigger than the one everybody ate but it wasn't enough and I went to bed very sad. I woke up in the middle of the night almost crying..
The following morning,oh Stella if you see the small miserable cup they used to serve me tea, immediately I finished it, I told them I needed to go out and buy recharge card even against they wish for the house help to help me go buy the card...
I located one mama put and ate 2plates of Rice. I was even angry because they've not finished preparing swallow that morning.
Na so my visit take end for their house before hunger go kill me😂

That is why I always feel like punching my husband in the face any time am eating my swallow with my favorite plastic bowel and he comes to give me that disgusting look.

  12. I sometimes adopt the above method,my kids don't like to eat anything at all.Feeding them takes great energy and alot of time.
So when I run out of patience,i threaten to smack them Cos i don't want them to develop ulcer and at times I smack them o.

  13. My boy won't eat till he was about a year and 8months thanks to Exclusive breastfeeding. *Sighs*
He is two years old now and he still won't eat his food,he takes only Beverages and Ribena.my own is to just dish his food and keep in his front.I don't yell or beat because it's just a waste of time.
trust me he won't bulge.my consolation is that he is chubby right from birth.

    1. Avoid giving your toddler child beverages and ribbena. These things kills their appetites.

Try cooking tasty food for kids and give them fresh juices instead, teach them to snack on healthy snacks.

    2. They only need 150ml of juice a day. Too much sugar. My kids drink juice only as a treat. They eat a lot of fruis and drink gallons of water.
      Give them water abeg

  14. My 3year old son doesn't eat. it's a big issue for me, because I have to sit with him and coax him to eat, feed him times without number and also tending to a new born. There is no kind of multivitamin I've not given him, they work for a while and then we are back to square one. I can't exactly pin point his favorite meal, he reacts same way to every kind of food.I'm just taking it one day at time and hoping he outgrows this phase of his childhood.

    1. same with my 3yrs old son, some times I spank him before he will eat, but, there's a day I left him without food all day till night, he came to me crying that he wants to eat, since then I don't bother my self, when he's hungry he will ask for food.

  17. A ward is a child not an adult. So how can a child not eating cause problems for his or her ward?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Every child must have a favorite food, just keep trying until you get what he wants, from there you can start combining it gradually, but always make sure the child is very hungry before feeding.

  19. Good afternoon Stella, bvs and happy Sunday, i really love kids a lot and their wellbeing, so devicing a means to make them eat without force feeding is really cool.
For my babies less than 1 year,i downloaded rhymes and funny baby skits and show them while i feed them. While above 1 year,i tell stories and promise to give them snacks after eating having their meal and it really worked for me. I have done it to several other kids of friends and it did work too.

  20. My mum used every method on me, but she got tired even before i was ten. Her own is,"don't come Bk to this house with ulcer". Some children can be stubborn sha; my nephew is punishing my sister to the extent that nobody ever offers to feed him. When u want to feed him, he would want to play all the play in hiss whole life that moment. I hope my children don't turn out to be like me when it comes to food cos it can be depressing and frustrating on the part of the mother.

  22. beating doesn't work for me. Promises does.for my toddler once I put the food In her mouth I follow it up with water for her to swallow. Sometimes I sing , dance for this little one to eat. My nanny does it better than me. Because with her they surely will finish their food.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Most times My husband will be counting how many spoon my child takes sometimes he will stay in a particular number if my child finds out my husband will count upwards till they reach a particular number if not you might finish the food yourself

My sister doesn't eat At all when she was little, but'll eat only if you sing with her name, she'll smile and finish the food happily We all had different music to sing for her then. She is so beautiful that you cant stop singing and seeing her dimples.

    2. Lol. This was my niece five years ago. We must sing before she will eat. Then this P-square’s Personally was trending, and that was her favourite. Play that song or sing it for her and she’ll finish her meal one time. Children sha. I love them.

  25. My sis will just play their favourite cartoon when food is ready, n they love yoghurt more that solid food...

  26. Mine is quite the opposite of me when it comes to eating.
This child eats every food I put before him. When he was just a baby, I breastfed him one year straight (nine months of only breast milk) he was always satisfied and grew bigger and bigger because mummy has the best and most satisfying milk in the world.

I prayed to God while he was still in my womb that my child will never stress me with eating and God answered me. I didn't want him to be picky like me.
This my child eats his foods and clears the table. I have never had cause to threatened or spanked him because of food. He is actually the one that always ask for his food or his snacks which are mostly nuts and fruits.

I think, what parents feed their little ones with also matter with how their kid(s) appetite for food will be.

    ReplyDelete
  27. All my friend does is to sing
If she does not sing, her son will not eat
So she has mastered all the songs you can think of

  28. My mother is a legend! She can make you eat sand and enjoy it. She will give the food a very funky name and so talk about it that you will look forward to it. She has a PhD in that field.

  29. my yonger sis don't like food at all and it has been like that since childhood our mom died when we were very small and i have been the one taking care of her. our dad noticed that she likes eating with him, so he always feed her when ever he's eating .now she is a big girl very beautiful, tall and talented. when ever i look at her tears of joy drops from my eyes that we survived

  30. As a child I hated food. I showed my mum whin! I was threatened with slippers, kpankere, stick for turning garri, hanger, no television FOREVER, yelling,pleas....nothing worked.

I would tearfully ask for rice and stew if I was served cereal..and still not eat or dodo and egg when I was given eba and soup.I WAS HORRIBLE.
    Then my grandma came visiting.

She observed all the drama and one day, while I picked at my food, removing all the 'chopchop' including the periwinkles from the soup and refusing to eat the whole meal itself, she calmly told me that if i didnt eat she'd make me swallow the empty periwinkle shells.
    Ehn!?she was a huge,formidable woman so I didn't doubt her!
I looked at the eba and the periwinkles and my then six year old brain calculated that it would be easier to swallow the eba because the 'mfi' were not the small smooth shelled ones but rather, they were of the large 'chukuchuku' variety.

I finished my meal without the usual tantrum.

Later,a small bowl of empty perewinkle shells would always be placed alongside my plate of food. One look at it and i'd grugdingly dig into my food.

I'm glad my daughter didn't stress me atallatall.
