Tailors in Nigeria have become something else...even some that are tagged Fashion designers do not deliver anymore...

      Well said. Some clients know they can’t wear certain styles yet they opt for them.
      Even after telling them it won’t be nice on them. Them nor go hear.

      I wish I snapped mine,i could not even attend the wedding again.I already told the guy to just change the style to the usual peplum top and six pieces skirt.

      Lol. It's not a matter of crepe. It's the cutting. The first pic is a paneled skirt and has strong facing. The other one is just an ordinary full circle skirt. That tailor should be sued. Has nothing to do with body shape. Anybody can wear that gown and look fabulous.

    After quite a number of disappointments, I had no choice but to give up on bespoke clothing. Nigerian tailors have no joy at all

    Stella no mind some customers, I just got into tailoring and I find some customers funny, can you imagine a customer choosing a dress made with over 20k tools and wanting to pay 3k, and even when you explain to them they still wont listen.

      They will even tell you it’s just a simple style.....( but e nor hard na) very annoying sets of human beings.
      Some will want a style that will take about 4 yards and bring you 2 yards 😂😂

      Exactly my point
      My tailor will tell me point blank of I want her to deliver, I should pay 6K. We will drag it to 5K and she won't disappoint.

      Olori your tailor is cheap, 5k? Wow that's how much I pay for simple peplum or off the shoulder top. OMG I'm firing my tailor asap.

      One thing I will miss in Ife is our tailors. Correct ones and they charge as low as 2k, 3k but between 5k to 6k if you want to add materials. They charge high if they want to sew for lecturers, doctors, nurses and pastor's wives. Imagine charging a matron for 6k for the same style she made for me for #1,500.

      pls I am a very good tailor in a wrong location, intact I just need to make 3 free clothes for 1 each for Stella and 2 bVs and you will come calling for more. I will post my email if stella gives me the go ahead. elegant fashion house.

    I rem when I was training to be a fashion designer, the first place I went was a disaster.
    She nor sabi nothing, yet she will collect fabrics and spoil them. She kept paying for fabrics she ruined 😂

    Please the customers self need to check their body size and shape before giving out style to sew. na wa ooo. The tailor sef need Jesus true true but e look like say na obioma sew the cloth ooooo

    I have a very good tailor and I always stand out in the clothes she make. Some of these customers are the problem. They want Vera Wang designs yet they are not ready to pay good money. Mtchew!

    you guys have cheap tailor o ..my own tailor take s 8k minimum and makes stunning design ..no story ..i go there when i have serious party or wedding ..ive paid 22k for outfit and it was wow..so soup wey sweet ............

      Shift abeg...You have the 22k that's why you paid.what about those who cannot even comfortable afford 3k to make a clothe so they should walk around naked or goan hang themselves Abi...
      See it's not by how much you take sew the clothe oh,introduced a friend that uses a tailor that charges between 6-10k to mine that charges 3-5k and it's needless to say that he uses mine now more than me wey introduce am sef.

      For me once I want to go for an event and slay I seat with the tailor(if I am chanced) to guide him in what I want and trust me there has never been a clothe he made for me that has not given him extra clients because I stand out.Another thing that makes one stand out is knowing the right accessories to use on a piece.

      I go use 22k sew clothe say na clothe I come this Lagos come wear...Odiegwu!

    You all failed to see that the style on the other lady was computer generated. Not saying its not possible to achieve, but you should be willing to pay well for your tailor to go the extra step. Speaking as an experienced tailor

    A fashion designer will spend 3 days to draft a pattern for a dress that celebrity will pay him 150k.

    Aunty will copy the design on magazine give it to a tailor to sew it for 3k.When that one no get the style! Aunty will come to Social Media to abuse Nigerian Tailor

    The tailor did a nonsense job...first the bodice is supposed to sit on a corset! Draft the pattern of a basic skirt sloper, tear and spread to give deep flare... I'd spread about 8-10 Inches per gore, place pattern on fabric and cut. You'll see the skirt gracefully fall out as a panel! Use a good Ankara fabric and not the aboki kobo kobo one. That style is a winner anyday! I'd even go ahead and drape a cut out of the fabric from the shoulder to the waistline...legit glamour!
