Sunday In House Gists -No Kids Please!

Do you know that there are some married folks who do not want kids?
Yes they exist!

They exist and we want to talk about them....
Are you one of such people?Do you know any or know why they decide not to procreate when they do not have a problem?

I used to think it was only the white race that makes such decisions but of recent,I found out that this decision does not have to do with colour, some people do not like kids and some do not want their lives altered by becoming parents....

Lets discuss!!

    1. That’s nice. To see Nigerians with that level of understanding I think it is great. Me I want to marry and have kids but it shouldn’t be the type of marriage I’ll endure if not, I just want to have children. What I'm trying to say is I want to get married but I need to have children two different things.

Fan,dont let your friend sow seeds of doubt in your marriage. Most men that had very difficult childhood as a result of too many siblings always have a mindset as your husband's.Not to worry,he will later give in to one or two more.My friend's hubby said same after their first child, but guess what? She just had her 3rd baby.Just relax and let things flow.

  10. It is not everyone that has the grace and patience to raise Godly children. If you know you don't have what it takes to raise Godly kids that will make the world a better place,my dear it is better you don't bother bringing them into this world. Another thing is women should learn to have the numbers of kids they can adequately care for financially, physically, psychologically, morally and spiritually. Enough of this competition of every naija woman wanting to have 4kids by fire by force even when they know they can't cater for them. One of my neighbors with three kids leaving from hand to mouth is currently pregnant with her fourth child. Who does that?

    ReplyDelete
  11. If a Nigerian couple do not want kids, it is ether of these:
    1. Cultism -they especially the man belongs to the occult and has used his fecundity for money/"favor" rituals
    2. The truth is that they can't even have a baby if they want. For some unexplained medical reasons but they will never come out to tell the truth about their covenants with Satan.
    3. The man is not capable -azoospermia or other medical conditions and the woman just married him for money and is living with it. She will invariably get tired or scheme the man's death etc.
    4. All that glitters are not gold. They keep having miscarriages -traceable to No. 1 reasons but the woman does not know what is happening and they keep covering it up with the false notion of not wanting kids.
The man may have stray kids somewhere else with concubines but never with the wife.

      Delete
    3. Don’t be so quick to conclude. There are people who don’t want to because babies/kids can be draining if you don’t have patience and mind.

Also, with the recent start of the country, this is not the best time to bring an innocent child into the world and start transferring aggression when it’s uncalled for.

Some people have choose not to have kids due to what they went through growing up, either physically, psychologically, emotionally or financially.

    4. Hmm your level of reasoning though

    5. You're a liar.

Before I met my husband, I didn't really want kids. I'm not in any cult, I didn't make any covenant with Satan, I don't have medical issues, I've never had a miscarriage, and there is nothing wrong with my husband. Fact is, I had an abusive father and a bad mother who gave me a wretched childhood. So, I assumed that whatever made them defective parents must be in the blood, meaning that they couldn't help themselves. I didn't want to risk putting that on a child. My husband had a good father but a mother who is just as bad as my mother. But his reaction was opposite to mine - so from the conversation (my husband told me) he had with his father just before the dad died, my husband believed that whenever he found his wife, they would also be loving parents.

Imagine if my husband thought something evil had been passed to him in the blood. We wouldn't have children but world people like you would have jumped out to say nonsense about what you don't know and categorise like you did above.

Stop assuming you know everyone's story; not everything you see fits neatly into a Nollywood script. Besides, not everyone who is medically capable of having children, should do so. But that is another issue...

    6. You sound so judgmental of people ttc. Jeez!!!!
So you think the above people u listed here falls into the category of those that do not wants kids? You think anyone who is dealing with medical conditions preventing him/her from having kids will be saying he/she does not want kids? No. Such people are hopeful that they will have their kids one day. Not lying that they do not want. People that do not want kids are different from people that are ttc but with no result yet.

What you don't want to be done to your daughters in marriage, don't do to your son's wife! How hard is it? If you think of and treat your son's wife like your own daughter, there are things you won't even think of doing. And it's that not a selfish reason?.Giving birth to kids because of "OLD AGE".There are people who have kids and yet kept in old people's home like they were childless to begin with.Having children is not a guarantee that they will have your time when they grow up. Some children may dislike their parents in the long run, some may dump them in old houses for caregivers to take charge. Nothing is certain in life biko. Have kids if you may but for unselfish reasons so there wont be any regret.just plan your life and put things in place for your own sake. Draft your retirement plans, insurance and all.

  18. Not everyone is supposed to have Children. If we understood and accepted this, then maybe we will have less evil resulting from parent who had no business raising children but went ahead to, just because they could. Think of these boys beheading each other in Ajah all in the name of cult war, were they supposed to be born? Armed robbers, wife beaters, prostitutes, ritualists, witches and wizards, evil neighbours and relatives, bad belle people, wicked politicians would not be all over the place if the parents who birthed them but could not bring them up properly, had not had them. I respect those who make up their minds not to breed for whatever reason as they save the world from certain evils.

By the way, not everyone who chooses to not have kids is a ritualist. I dont want kids cos I know I wont be a good mother. I know myself and I dont want to flood the earth with some badly brought up, spoilt children.

  19. It is only Nigerians that will think it's abnormal for people to not want kids. The older I get the less interested I am in the whole having kids thing. I don't like stress at all, which means pregnancy stress is not for me, running after children all around the place is not for me. The one that annoys me the most is having to work so hard and all I can think of when the money comes to what my kids need/want. That life is not for me abeg. I don't know why others don't want kids but for me it's because the responsibility of taking care of myself and my mum is more than enough responsibility for me. I don't see the point in them. I have never been maternal. The world is overpopulated. My genes are not exactly that special to warrant dispersion. I have nephews and nieces. Some are poorly behaved others are amazingly well brought up. I would hopefully retire at 53. Travel the world. When I am weak and frail, I would have a court appointed trustee put me in a long term care. Hopefully I die in peace. If I become sick with cancer or any other terminal illness before that, I have in my will that I be taken to hospice immediately and my body be donated to science. My partner is in his 50s and he has instructed me to do the same for him. We have had a wonderful life. Our pets are already a hand full. Going for a full hysterectomy after menopause. I feel very blessed and fortunate that I had the choice of not having kids. So many wonderful women's lives ruined by children. I have raised better children than a lot of parents in my chosen child free life. We foster from time to time. I have no bone for long term parenting. I am a scientist and I am super proud of my contribution to the field which I might not have been able to do with kids. Sone of my friends have no kids either both male and female freinds. No regret from any of us. People ask me sometimes about kids and when I tell them I don't have they look at me with such pity in their eyes especially when I visit my mom in Nigeria. I usually don't get that here where I reside. I wonder why? I pity them right back too. I have rarely seen a woman with kids in Nigeria that is well put together. Quite unfortunate really. Some ask me who would "take care of you", and I tell them that I don't know about Nigeria but in the here the same people who take care of older adults with children AKA nurses in long term care. So I wouldn't be lacking care as a consequence of my child free choice. My relatives and friends in Nigeria would usually ask "what about your wealth who would inherit it?" I tell them that my will simply states that all my assets be given as donations to different science oriented organisation. Although I do not tell them that I have left some funds for my nieces and nephews, nothing too much. Just bought them stocks in great companies which they would get when they turn 25 each. It's been a wonderful life so far. The peace and tranquility I am privileged to have cannot be compared to whatever imagined love I would feel for a child. I am an atheist, so I have no obligation to fulfill religious mandate of mass reproduction.I am sure there are people in Nigeria that do not want kids but it's unfortunate thay think they don't have an option. Quite sad. That being said, I don like children and I love them even more because they aren't mine.

    1. How do you know those who chose to have kids are not happy. What
Makes people happy differ. If you want yo have go ahead and stop enforcing your opinion on others.I have a question for you though. If you were allowed to go back in time to when you were not yet formed, and you had the liberty of giving your consent to come to this world. Would you gladly say yes or no. With everything you have seen, known and gone through. Would you come back again and to do what please.

  29. I used to desire 4 kids till I had one child and although I love her absolutely, I really wish I don’t have kids so I’m done with child bearing.
Motherhood is really really really tough and yea the occasional laughter and cute touch makes your heart melt, it’s really not for everyone..
Not wanting to have a child is absolutely fine especially as a black person.
Don’t let people guilt trip you.
Enjoy your marriage and enjoy yourself!
Your decision not to have kids means that you are selfish enough to know that you love yourself

  31. Nothing wrong with that. Let everyone live as they are most comfortable. So many parents are killing or severely abusing children they chose to bring into the world, I honestly wish they had chosen to stay without children.
