Yahoo Boys Controversy -Your View

Are you following the Yahoo boys brouhaha currently viral on the Nigerian side of the Internet? Are you in support of yahoo boys or against them?

Ever had a bad experience with them? or are you currently living the good life because your family member or boo is into 'yahoo' line of Business...?

Please state the level of Yahoo cos there are different types...we hear normal Yahoo which is to obtain by tricks/scam someone's hard earned money or the Yahoo plus which is to go even deeper and use body parts of human beings or animals to seek wealth.

Oh wait!!!......Or is it you reading this now that is into yahoo?Oh dear, please lets talk!!!...Why do you do it?It is scary but out of every ten young men you met, nine and a half are into yahoo yahoo.....

What is your view?My two cents? In those days when yahoo (then called 419) was in vogue,it was so fly to have a boyfriend doing such because we didnt know better but now we know and I would never encourage anyone to have anything to do with anyone who is into this evil practice...If for nothing at all,it has an address with Karma and MUST come back to haunt you or your Children's generation..

    1. Hmmnn, a few years ago I met a Nigerian living abroad on social media. We started talking every day, it became a long distance relationship. This guy started talking marriage, I was so young and naive and I had the stupid abroadian urge to leave Nigeria. I didn't know this guy was a scammer until I had sent him my salary a few times and the last one I sent bounced back. I went to GTB to question the transaction and they told me his account abroad was blocked as he was under investigation. I managed to email the customer service of his bank and they told me his account had been reported for several fraudulent transactions. That was when it dawned on me that I was being scammed! By this time I had lost hundreds of thousands of naira. My young heart was broken, I cried and cried, not just because of the money I lost but that my whole FIANCE was a joke. It was a sad eye-opener. No yahoo/scammer/419 person will end well. You can't make an innocent person who trusted you/loved you cry bitter tears and go scot free, it's not possible

    5. First of all, plus 419 o, plus yahoo o, plus yahoo plus o. All of it is bad! There is hunger and there is poverty but that doesn’t justify. Yahoo is addictive and the reason it has blown like this is because of agberos that are doing it. What do you expect? People that glorify normal phone snatching and gold chain grabbing are into yahoo now so...

I won’t lie, I did yahoo and even yahoo plus and made so much money but yahoo leaves you miserable! People should just stop talking about Karma when it comes to yahoo because it’s religious and many people think once you do charity, karma won’t visit. They should start using the law to scare people into it.

I think we should change the schooling system. That’s where to start from because you can’t be preaching school is useless and then you see the reality of it then someone is showing you a way to make money without needing school and you won’t fall for it.

If only you know how the real yahoo is done. Not the one you just read briefly about. The spamming, the email takeover, dating, cloning, cfo and all, you’d know that anybody can fall. People need therapy to stop it because it is very very addictive. I had to convince myself over and over and over again to stop it. Many people want to stop believe me but it’s just like runs that when a woman is broke and she knows that a chief will give her money just for opening her legs, you know how tempting that can be?

    10. Hunger is no justification for fraud. It is so bad they are not only stealing from foreigners but even from Nigerian that are legitimately hustling or are this same Nigerians among those that took their fore father's into slavery.
So many young guys especially just want to live above their means, spend money and buy cars and have lots of ladies around them like the young musician does this days. The young musicians are their new role models so they are not ready for any legitimate job.

    11. Anon 16:13 with what I have seen in yahoo, I wouldn’t do it anymore. Documentary on yahoo is just not possible but if it is, many people won’t do it. I have escaped ritualists while I was on the quest to do yahoo plus myself. I have had cultist take me to forest to kill me because they thought I ran away with the money of one of them if not for God’s intervention.

I have had police (outside naija) raid my house and arrest a friend inside same house with me but they didn’t touch me cus it wasn’t me they came for. I have had politician kidnap me to beat me up because I was dating and spoiling his side chic.
I have had best friends betrayed me and report me to police so that they can share money with the policemen.

I have seen friends go to jail proper proper with all their education wasted because of fraud. I have been scammed myself in the course of fraud but who I report to. I have seen men and women get disowned by their families because of online scammers that they were funding. I have seen business close down because of CFO CEO fraud. I have seen a pregnant woman with a child fall for rental scam kicked out in the winter because she paid a scammer money thinking it was a landlord. I have seen a case that the ‘maga’ shot himself on webcam during the time of yahoo messenger when he found out his love was a scammer. I have seen an old woman lose her retirement benefits because she mistakenly filled out a form online.

I will never do fraud if I could go back in time. Even frauds like tax return and Medicare have a way of affecting real people even though you think it’s the government it affects.

  5. i WILL NEVER support anyone doing this - you dont realise the damage this has done to our image as Nigerians, amongst fellow africans, talk more of the developed world

I remember as far back as 15 years ago, i walked into my local branch of Santander to open a UK bank account and as soon as they saw my passport, they said they do NOT open accounts for Nigerians as Nigeria/Nigerian is considered a high fraud risk.....thankfully, a different bank opened accounts for me that period.....Since then, this Yahoo thing has gone from bad to worse.

Yahoo practitioners and their supporters and empathisers need to stop....theres no excuse for crime....let me take you down memory lane

Few years back, the then Governor of Anambra thought the state was unsafe, the people also agreed and eventually Issakaba boys were brought in to "cleanse" the land, after the "cleanse", the blood thirsty IB turned their attention on the indigenes who bore the wrought until IB were sent packing.

Same thing happened with OPC in the west and till date, the west cant rid off OPC completely - More recently, Boko Haram: the north provided a safe haven and environement for Boko Haram, they thrived and were shielded by the North - now the same BH has become a menace to the North and its indigenes (after killing/driving away non indigenes)
Same thing happened with ISIS in syria and Iraq ---the sympathisers and enablers who argue that Yahoo boys are "taking back" what foreigners stole from Africa, sorry for una - eventually, the chickens would come home to roost, your monies would be stolen - your life savings, your children would be used as sacrifices to "empower their jazz" so that they can continue to decieve the "oyinbos"

Please stop and seek alternatives - look at China and India, they are gradually moving from a developing country status to a certified developed country status without doing Yahoo - the unemployment percentage is even higher in India, yes they have crime rates there as well but they equally work hard.

There's this guy that since I was in JSS1 had always said he would marry me. Fast forward to 2014 he left for Malaysia, he kept calling me, asking for acct details, promising he would still marry me, I told him NO. I don't want anything to do with the kind of life he's leading. I blocked his number both calls and on Whatsapp, he tried all means to reach me but no way. Any time a number calls and it's him I will block sharply.

Guy man came back this March and even went to my mum's house....ikwakwakwakwakw. He saw wedding pictures including my baby's. He got a Nigerian number and called me, saying he wants to just come visit us, I told him to give whatever he planned giving to us to the beggars on the street as I would receive it as a blessing from God.

I have not seen his call for sometime, though I still suspect he might wake up one morning to start calling me again( ama keep blocking all blockables).

  6. Yahoo/419 is the same thing. All they do is scam people of their hard earned money. And they're not only scamming whites they're also scamming innocent hard working Nigerians. If not that most youths of nowadays have sold their souls to the devil, this should never be a topic for national discussion. I'm so ashamed of the useless celebrities supporting the Yahoo boys, like seriously what has come over Nigerian youths? This is very despicable and highly appalling. I can't deal mehn. I Wonder how we want the intl community to look us after seeing all out dirty linen on social media. Anybody supporting yahoo or into it or benefiting from it will never make heaven. ReplyDelete
  11. Some people will support them until they fall victim by losing their money or a loved one.

I'ld rather have little from honest means with peace of mind than get it dubiously without joy and expose my unborn generations to curses from God and man.

Tomorrow now their descendants will keep moving from pillar to post seeking for spiritual help. Some will end up compounding the problem through satanic means.

Even those who sincerely wait on God to resolve issues for them would have suffered so much before help comes.

  20. About ten years or more ago,I was in a Church one day when the "pastor"
(well known pentecostal preacher) came to the pulpit, the first thing he
said was "who parked that lexus suv outside?"
    The man stood up.
    "come and shake me" 😲😲😲😲😲
The man stood up and came forward and people were clapping
A lot of mature people in the church did not find it funny.
After service, all the single chicks were smiling sheepishly and
    going to greet him.

    It did not start today.
It is powered by the preachers, the parents, the public office holders,
    the politicians etc.
That man may have come to that church to seek solution to his "ritual woes" etc.
He wasn't previously known in that church.
How many Nigerian girl will date a graduate who is working hard and earning an honest
    living?
How many parents, even here, will not encourage their kids to bring back a "very rich in law"?
Not minding how he made the riches.

A friend of mine told me her 12 year old daughter was on a school bus coming home
    on valentine's day.
A notorious but popular boy in her school from a very rich an well known home
who have tried his best to woe her but failed came and gave her a bouquet
    filled with dollars.
Her daughter rejected it and the boy was shocked, he couldn't believe it.
I personally went and congratulated the girl, it is rare.
I know this family and we have family fellowship together (not any church denomination). As
a matter of fact, we do not attend any church anymore; just meet with like minded families to
study the scriptures and have fellowship. This is the end times folks, people are lovers of

Hotel business is something people go to school for! You can’t just wake up and start doing it because you have money. You will run down and go back to yahoo.

People believe doing business with yahoo money is the holy grail. Don’t worry! Wait for 3-5 years and you’d know $12m is not money. Income won’t match expenditure and you’d understand what school means then.

Yahoo is bad, so also are; looting by our politicians, maltreatment of citizens by police and soldiers, nepotism, passing and signing of life time pension for state house of rep members when your state is seriously underdeveloped, unlawful dues on "virgin passport" by immigration officers, religious heads raping and living lavishly off of their congregation, money laundering by religious heads via their private jets, corruption, greed and bribery at every level of government estabishments e.t.c.. many ills in the society that are being turned a blind eye to. So, why stress on Yahoo? If we are turning blind eyes to the some ills in the society, we should also turn blind eyes to all; Yahoo inclusive. Some of your boyfriends and husbands come to lend money from me and don't even pay back but I let go. I can't count how many Brazilian hairs and iphones have gone down. Your passports are been glued in 2s and 3s now because of all the trips we have had. I meet hoodlums at your bustop on daily basis conspiring to commit crime because they haven't had breakfast. I bless them with little change as I drive pass and tell them to "she jeje"they listen..All in All I never bought you a bottle of cold water to drink yet, Please drop your account number I will send you money for that, Drink it and mind your business today.

    6. I'm sorry it still doesn't change the fact that the foundation of your "good works" is evil. The only way out is to turn away from it completely.

Deut 23:18 You must not bring the earnings of a female prostitute or of a male prostitute into the house of the LORD your God to pay any vow, because the LORD your God detests them both.

      God cannot be bribed.

  32. Hmmmmmm, I wonder why some people are justifying Yahoo, does that mean that we have no conscience any more. What happens to the saying that the fruit of your labour shall not go in vain. Why justify a crime that is against our Creator and humanity, or do we think that we would not be called to account for our sins. All I want to say is that no matter how difficult life is, you have no right to take from another, are you better than hawkers, wheel barrow pushers, shoemakers, conductors, bricklayer, artisan and the list goes on. The day of reckoning is close by, you think you are wiser today, it's your tomorrow that matters, you shall surely be paid with your own coins.

  33. Stella, Yahoo has eaten so deep into Nigeria's moral level as a society. Everybody in Nigeria is on this TABLE, directly or indirectly. Anyone in Nigeria can take a huge amount to the bank without being questioned, live a fancy life with no tangible livelihood but when you raise an highbrow. Oh you are hating. In America or any civilized country not all money can be taken to the bank. The bankers, private businesses, NGOs, Giveaway specialists etc. are all on this TABLE. It is a cycle in Nigeria, but having the right people in authority will reduce it all. Yahoo is just a fraction of all the illegal activities going on in Nigeria. The only reason it is always talked about is because majority of those involved are young people.

    May God Save Nigeria..

Some will put a call across to you claiming to be a representative of your bank and request for their BVN. Next minute, debit alerts on ones poor savings.

Yahoo has come "home". Now we are paying for not starting this discussions early enough.

    3. Honestly, we better thrash this now or it will consume us! This was how kidnapping started with expatriates. What do we have now? Nothing justifies scamming another person of his hard earned money. NOTHING! Its a pity, this is a generation that did not meet the Otokotos, Fred Ajiduas, Joneb, Morris Ibekwe etc. They never end well. I wish our youths will learn... Godliness with contentment is still great gain.

  34. There are some conditions we find ourselves in that we don't mind any business or job to put food on the table. When all decent means fails, you are left with no choice. I'm in that stage in life now. Hmmm
Condition pushed some of these people to do yahoo.

  35. Our society is sick! I am not surprise that some people will justify this evil deed. Somebody typed up there that it has liberated a lot of family from poverty. How many more of our mothers, daughters and babies will be sacrificed for omo boys to blow? Will it sustain them till the next generation? I know a friend those days in school that his Father was very rich and his elder once were all doing well. Couple of years back the father died and i witnessed how everything disappeared. Now my G is moving from one church, ministry and miracle ground to another to liberate himself from any sins of his father. Another friend used #150k to buy laptop and other stuff for his yahoo work while i used same amount to get a fairly used dispatch bike. He "hammered oo" but later shits started happening but now i have got many bikes and even into a partnership with Jumia. We are all originators and creators but we lack patience and hate working hard. Mind you as a 2.1 graduate of biotech, i have served drink in a bar, i have driven Danfo, i have done insurance marketing without salary. Slept under the bridge (just twice), slept at DT lounge in Okota most nights in those days. Lets stop encouraging rubbish!!

  37. If government could turn a new live by being an example, yahoo would not be the way it is now. Among all commenting no one holy pass and no one sin pass. Let's call a spade a spade, yahoo is not good for sure but youths provide employment for themselves on that instead of being kidnappers, arm robbers, and etc. Blame governmt for everything looters like them deserve to be stone to death because they have made people should their hands.
