Amaechi Fires Back At Peter Obi Over 2023 Igbo Presidency Statement..

Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has again lashed out at the Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Peter Obi, for saying that he (Amaechi) is not politically relevant to discuss whether Igbos should have the Presidency in 2023 or not.

Amaechi, who spoke on the sidelines, at an Interactive forum of Maritime Stakeholders in Lagos, said the former Anambra State Governor does not have the credibility to speak on the matter because he could not win the presidential election.

Amaechi also said right from when he became Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly till date his name has been in the front burner of national politics far more than Peter Obi.

Amaechi said that for the Igbos to get the Presidency in 2023, they must be part of “National Politics”.

According to Amaechi, “Peter Obi said I’m not an Igbo man and that I don’t have the locus to discuss whether Igbo Presidency will be or not in 2023. That comment is a very sad and cheap one from him.

“But the truth is that Peter Obi too does not have the locus to speak about Igbo Presidency because he and his party couldn’t win the presidential election.

“Aside from that, it’s most unfortunate that Peter Obi, a man I defeated to become the Chairman of Nigeria Governors Forum(NGF), when we were both governors, can wake up today to say I am not relevant in the polity to talk about national issues when journalists ask me questions about it.

“I think what is important, which I have said to the Igbos severally is that they need to be part of national politics. If they are not part of National Politics they cannot be President.

“National Politics means that an Ikwerre man must have his interest covered by the Igbos If they want to be President. The Yoruba man must have the Igbos cover their interests, the Hausa, Fulani people must also be confident that their interests are covered by the Igbos.

“I support Igbo Presidency. I believe that it’s the Igbo turn to produce the next President of Nigeria because they have not been there before. The country will be unfair to the Igbos if they say it’s not their turn. But it can’t be your turn and you don’t want to fight for it. You want us to wake you up from sleep and say come and take, it is your turn? It doesn’t work like that and it will not work that way. So, Peter Obi should close his mouth. He lost an election which I won and that’s why President Buhari, not Atiku will be sworn-in tomorrow as President,” he explained.

  1. Chaiii. This Amaechi get bad mouth sha. But truth be told,it just be given to the Igbos on a platter of gold. They need to work for it as he said. For the first time in a long while,i stand with amaechi on this. But oga amaechi, enough of the winning election. Bubu is not the people's mandate till tomorrow and you know it.

    2. Ogazi, thank you. I said it last time that Port Harcourt seaport isn't operational fully but CherishD argued it. What about Calabar and Warri? Kaduna without sea has a dryport and you will wonder what is it for? What about train moving than to East or even his state? It will shock you to know that over four years now, train hasn't move to Enugu from Port Harcourt. Yet Ameachi has mouth to talk. I am so highly disappointed in him.

  2. Oga Amaechi, Biko tell them. Getting there doesn't come on a platter of gold; when you don't trust each other and can't put your house in order.

  3. He lost the election which you won? Which election? Let’s leave aside the fact that the people did not even vote for Buhari, did the amaechi deliver rivers state to APC? No! Did APC get majority of the declared presidential votes? No. So which election did amaechi win? I’m igbo, what he said about the igbos is very correct. They want the presidency but act like they’re not interested in it. Then complain that they’re marginalized.

  4. Ameachi that wasn't how you put it initially in your speech. Now you are trying to sugarcoat it. Your statement about it initially shows your hatred and disdain for the Igbo race simply because you want to please your pay master.

You have always been a traitor and that we haven't forget. We in Port Harcourt knows how you treated Odili, a man who gave you voice and stand in politics. You think we don't know much about you and what you did to your cousin Omehia?

Talking about pedigree or outstanding performance, Ameachi can you stand Peter Obi in comparison? I know you won't want to go into that debate or contest. You claimed to be what I don't know yet couldn't organize your house in order to contest an election and eventually lost out.

Ameachi isn't it a disgrace that you fight for the maritime university proposed to be built on Niger delta to be taken far away north? Ameachi what happened to Eastern railway routes? Or you think we don't need it or those beautiful trains we saw plying Kaduna to Abuja?

Ameachi shame fall on you there.

  5. Amaechi...so childish!. This man us incapable of debating issues. Everything must be reduced to the petty and the personal. Peter Obi is asking what qualifies you to talk down on the ibos and you can't frame an intelligent response. Youre talking of how you won him and became a school prefect in the governors forum years ago. Mtcheeewww!

    1. Can you imagine the rubbish he was spewing out? The same way they asked Buhari on NTA, who is Buhari? I bet, you won't want to hear his response so you don't end up regretting being governed by such a man.

  6. Which election did Amaechi win please? He sounds like a spoilt child. You can't face a man like yourself on your own record you're bringing Buharis name into it. With all his federal might he couldn't even deliver his hamlet in Ubima not to talk of Rivers state. He is still a learner in the political game. A learner with not much more than a big mouth. And that big mouth of his makes even the bigwigs in the party he has aligned with, very cautious of him. The worst he did during this election was it not to engineer the disgrace of the CJ, Walter Onnoghen? How was that a good idea?

    1. No, he won't remember that. He thought we in Port Harcourt don't know the story about it all. Odili truly has a large heart. Most times it's good to listen to ones wife.
