The immediate past governor of the state, Rochas Okorocha, at the end of his administration elevated the polytechnic to a university status and appointed a Vice Chancellor.
Okorocha moved the polytechnic to Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of the state.
However, in a statement issued by the Secretary to the state government, Uche Onyeagucha on Monday, the governor reversed the institution to its original status and ordered for the reopening at its initial location.
Ihedioha then appointed an acting rector, following the retirement of Wance Madu.

DeleteNo! He isn't petty. The polytechnic doesn't have the structure to become a university yet. Rochas took the decision to elevate the polytechnic to a university few months to the end of his tenor. Rather than upgrade the polytechnic he elevated it to a university. Wrong move. Infact IMSU should also be upgraded, my younger brother graduated from there and the experience he went through in that school can't be explained! I apologize but that is a glorified secondary school. Lecturers won't come to class to lecture, to sign any documents you pay from one desk to another. Mtsshhheewww.

ReplyDeleteThis is a good one. Okorocha hurriedly took the decision around 2mths to the end to his Administration. The decision wasn't well thought out. The instructions towards relocation was on paper, no structure to accommodate them. Good decision.
