Another interesting read on the Service year Boulevard.....*Gist included*
My boyfriend worked my service to Lagos just to be close to him but i was shocked to see Ogun state in my call up later, I cried for days and he assured me he would ensure I'm redeployed to Lagos.
I took a cab from ojota that would take me down to shagamu, we were actually all prospective corps members in the cab about 5 of us ( 2 girls and 3 guys)
"3 very handsome guys".
When we got to the camp, me and the other lady easily became friends and she became my "bunkie"...we did not really get to talk much with the guys.
Some days later during SAED, I met with one of the guys(let me call him "Tony" at the stadium and we got talking, I started liking him Lol.
After about 2 days of constant hanging out, we both fell in love that I forgot about my Lagos boyfriend.
He would call and I will totally ignore him, my world revolved around Tony.
Me and tony would always go to mammy together, he would buy me chicken and chips at night, during early morning parade, he would bring me hot coffee in my platoon stand, he would even kiss me in front of all my platoon members...honestly it was total bliss lol.
I broke up with my Lagos boyfriend right there in camp and he was so devastated he kept on screaming on the phone "chai NYSC has killed me o, they have taken my woman". (We had issues before I went into the camp tho)
I did not really care, I was deeply in love.
The head of "Man O War" was interested in me and asked me to pick any PPA of my choice, but I would date him in return. I refused, I even disrespected one of the soldiers who promised to deal with me, i did not care, all because tony had my back.
We both hoped and prayed we would be posted close to each other..I was devastated when I saw " Ogun waterside" and he was posted to "yewa south" that's like the two extreme ends of Ogun state, about 6 hours journey apart.
I cried and cried and my friends were just consoling me.
He kept on assuring me that we would make it work and blah blah blah.
I actually cried from the camp till we got to abigi...believe me Ogun waterside is nothing to write home about ( they have been sounding it to us right from camp)
I served in iwopin village, the witchcraft there seriously drew me closer to God, at some point, we were practically living in fear.
It got worse when one of us(a female corper) died of an undisclosed illness.
I personally got so much spiritual attacks, we would feel cobwebs in the middle of walking in the streets, the students at some point started attacking us physically, robbing our houses.
Although we did not lack fish, snails, garri, plantain from IPPC staff school, there was always food courtesy of the students, (we had to do serious prayers before eating them tho lol)
The height of our service came when one of us (a female corper) said she is in love with one of the villagers, we begged and begged her to leave the village with us, but she refused and insisted on marring him (rumor had it that she was jazzed), even our loving principal was so shocked at her decision.
My relationship with tony did not even survive 6 months into the service, we broke up, a very bitter break up.
He is married to a white woman now and living in the US, we still talk tho, we are friends.
And I'm married as well but not to my Lagos boyfriend.
*Please come and finish the gist..Did she eventually marry the villager?
Very interesting story.
ReplyDeleteSomebody should define 'relationship' and 'love' for me because I don't get it! How can you fall in love or even 'pair up' with someone in a week or even less?
Then a 'relationship' can be broken just like that?
Lizzy honey, that’s why people create terms such as ‘head over heels in love’
Delete‘Infatuation’ and whatever else there is, for situations such as these.
They pretty much lack substance, that’s why such (I won’t call it loveπ) could be found in a week and lost in two.
Naija girls

Lol as in fell in love with a villager lol, Nollywood call it Villagers' Romance part 1.
ReplyDeleteNone of you people see nothing wrong in breaking up with a guy, but if it's the other way round now... Hmmn
ReplyDeleteI am telling you. If it was a guy that met a new girl in camp and broke up with his girlfriend in Lagos,BVs would have called him of forms of unprintable names.Double standard feminists.
Delete@16:58 please spare me the details, all relationships must not lead to marriage moreover the guy was a yahoo boy,he didn't tell me at first so I was seriously looking for an escape route when I got to know. Nysc and tony was just the perfect excuse. Moreover he slapped me 3 days before I got into camp that's why I said we had issues. DV is a deal breaker for me. Hope you understand now.
DeleteSo when are you finishing the story......
