Woman Abducts Baby From Teenage House-Help In Church

An 18-month old baby boy Chibuike Ezechukwu was on Sunday allegedly abducted by a woman in a Catholic Church in Awada, Onitsha, Anambra State.
He was reportedly stolen from a house-help during offering time.

It was gathered that the suspect had pleaded with the house-help carrying the baby to help her drop her offering, while she assisted her with the baby.

A parishioner who spoke in confidence said the house-help innocently handed over the baby to her ignorant of her intentions.

She said, “She offered to help her hold the child but before she could come back, the woman had absconded with the baby,” she narrated soberly.

When contacted, the Police spokesperson, Haruna Mohammed, confirmed the incident.
He said Police detectives had visited the scene, adding that efforts were on to apprehend the fleeing suspect and recover the child.

Mohammed advised members of the public to be wary of the new pattern of child stealing and report suspicious persons to the nearest police station for prompt action. Religious leaders are equally enjoined to take adequate security measures at their places of worships in order to avert this ugly trend

    2. I pray this poor baby is found.
Sometimes you see some house-helps not more than 10/13 years old..they are children that shld still be cared for themselves. How do entrust your baby with another baby. Makes no sense.

  4. The same thing happened in my town in Anambra sometime ago. The baby is yet to be found. The evil woman sent the help to buy something for her close by and before the innocent girl could turn around, she disappeared with the baby and the girl was crying calling for help.

    1. When they lynch them now, one will start pitying them and screaming say no to jungle justice.

Imagine the level of wickedness, taking somebody's child. The trauma of not even knowing where the child is can drive them mental.

  6. Churches should use part of their plenty money for security. There are rich men in Catholic churches who can conveniently foot the bills. Churches should have CCTV cameras instead of oppressing people with big cars and GUcci. If this Catholic church had this CCTV, this case would have been resolved. The face of the baby thief would have been seen and she would have been apprehended by now.

  11. Handsome boy. Just wondering how the families will feel.

No fear of God in people anymore. House of God too is not safe again.

Parents will now start using belt and padlock on their children when in church because of kidnappers.

Mothers too not every child should be left with house help. Am sure the houaehlep will not be up to 10 years.

God Almighty hear the cries of the mother and let the cute boy be found in Jesus Christ name. Amen
