Judge Blames Wife And Dissolves 40 Year Union After Man Threatened To Commit Suicide .....

Na wah!!!!

A retired civil servant, Isiaka Azeez, has petitioned a Mapo Customary Court in Ibadan to dissolve his 40-year-old marriage to Mujidat, or he might jump into a river due to his wife’s constant provocation.

Narrating his ordeal before Chief Ademola Odunade, the President of the court, Azeez said that he was fed up with his wife’s troubles and frequent threat to his life.

Azeez, believed to be in his 70s, posited that he had never benefitted any rest of mind in his 40 years union to Mujidat except sorrow and trauma.

“For over 20 years now, my cohabitation with Mujidat has been that of cat and rat because she is highly disobedient and an example of a mistaken wife..
Her attitude suddenly changed towards me the moment she realized that things went bad with me economically and she started treating me with disregard.
Then I developed diabetes and other systemic problems led to her not taking care of me any further.

“Worst of all, Mujidat told our three children to also take me as a nonentity because they neither greet me nor show me any form of respect.
For the past one year, Mujidat had in fact, moved away from my home. “If this court refuses to put an end to our union today, I prefer to go and jump into Dandaru River,” Azeez threatened.

The plaintiff’s younger brother and sister who testified in the matter also confirmed all the attitudes usually exhibited by the respondent.

However, the respondent opposed the suit and also denied some of the allegations levelled against her, adding that instead, her husband neglected her for his second wife.

Mujidat submitted that she never misguided the children against their father and that they only did what they wished.

“The real reason why my husband filed this suit against me is because I no longer allow him to sleep with me again and this is due to my age and his ailment.
Please, for the sake of our children, don’t separate us,”

In his judgement, Odunade dissolved the union, noting that the relationship has been irreparably damaged due to the respondent’s misbehaviour.

He, however, ordered the plaintiff to pay N5,000 to Mujidat to enable her move her things ......

  1. Some women are like fish bone stuck in the gullet. They aren't going in or coming out.

  2. Wait, so the man's brother and sister testified against her (no surprise there), he claims children don't talk to him thanks to his wife whereas he married a second wife and neglected his first wife. So he was expecting the children to treat him with respect for the way he treated their mother? *hisses

  3. na real wa..but come to think of it if you've done 40 years..why not kuku die together..hes 70 for christ sake..both of them have come this far and are closer to where they are going than where they are coming from. kuku endure finish na

  4. I always hate to read... "he however ordered plaintiff to give her 5k to...." I keep asking myself again n again "WHAT CAN 5K DO/BUY FOR SOMEONE???!!!... Especially in ds buhari's regime?..

  5. They know it favours the man. Don't u know we are in a patriarchal society. All these 5k things shouldn't be going on. They should be talking of sharing property. But again d judge is a man

    1. imagine the gold digger anno15:40,it's cos of people like you that makes man to use his siblings as next of kin cos the moment you know you are the next of kin,you want to kill him and use his property to get a small boy that will be screwing you. imagine that man is Ur father.

  6. Yup another one playing the blame game.He treated his first wife like crap, takes a second wife and blames first wife for his diabetes, rather than his lifestyle. Why didn't second wife look after him then? If he was so broke why take a second wife? Oga, you are the loser. Those kids will look after their mum.

  7. If I say something unflattering about the judge, it would be seen as disrespect to an elder.

    - Who testified in the woman's behalf?
    - The children from a 40 year old union are not kids. Did anybody ask them anything or is the judge also saying they're not to be believed?
    - Oga has a second wife, why is he then complaining about the first not taking care of him? If the second is doing well, would he notice the first's neglect?
    - 5k kee that judge dia

  8. Have they heard from the woman? Or, they still believe that a woman have no voice? i think there's much to this - 40 years is not 4 months or years o. i just dey waka pass

  9. Go to these courts and witness the injustice against women. 5k!!

    1. Its sad
