The co-founders of the Gates Foundation, Bill and Melinda Gates on Tuesday  September 24,2019 honoured 16 year old Miss Payal Jangid from India with the Change Maker Award ....

She was awarded for advocating for the right of the girl child to quality education and calling for the abolition of child marriage after she refused to be married off at the age of 12.

She was presented with the award by the United Nations Deputy Secretary General, Mrs Amina Mohammed at the 2019 Global Goals Award organized by Melinda and Bill Gates in New York.

While receiving the award, she talked about her commitment to ensure that girls are treated equally with the male folk and stressed on the need for every kid to receive education especially those who may drop out of school due to poverty and gender bias.
