DNA Wahala:.....

Please join me on the couch and lets discuss DNA testing ....

DNA testing is what people do to ascertain the paternity of a child or children that supposedly belong to them.......
We all know how they say that DNA is always 99.9percent accurate......

Is it possible that by some chance some DNA tests come out Inaccurate?Has anyone ever been sure of a child's paternity but a DNA testing said otherwise?

A Lady had kids for a man and years later,he decides ''Oh let me even check if they mine''..Lo and behold, the results come back saying the Children are not his but the wife is swearing that she has never been with anyone else...

What do you know about DNA testings?Even heard of a DNA story that was tagged not accurate?

Lets discuss!!!

    1. I have learnt to not base paternity on looks and marriage (of the couple) since watching Paternity Court. It airs on DSTV, but there are also full episodes on their official YouTube page.

There have been times where I insult the man because I think the child looks so much like him... only for the results to be 0%. Then the woman who was so loud becomes quiet, and starts remembering other men she was with!

    2. After the East African nurse who swapped babies just for fun and only confessed when she had a terminal sickness, husbands should give their wives benefit of the doubt if they insist they are innocent and try to find out if anyone gave birth at the hospital about the time they did.

    3. 17:21 you’re right. This could be the reason for non matching dna. Mothers should equally be tested because exchanged kids will be no match to either parents, which should be a pointer that the child was switched at birth. If related to the mother however, then infidelity is involved.

      Delete
  2. It is always good to do a DNA test on both mother and father. Some babies are swapped at birth knowingly or unknowingly. So any woman that is saying that she is sure that she hasn't slept with any other man should also request that the DNA be conducted on her too, to make sure that the children are even hers too to start with.

    1. u are right but some women can be so wicked, they know the truth but will, still keep on telling lies.

    2. Very correct. Before accusing anyone of infidelity it is best to conduct the test on both parents.

    3. Some too are victims of cryptic pregnancy scam. When they insert the 'thing' that is supposed to trap sperm, they tell you it will be there until you wish to remove it. You keep getting pregnant (which only their scan can detect) keep having the babies with them because only they have the drugs that enable you push out the babies. If you speak to people that believe in this scam you will be surprised at the level of brainwash -these are very educated people oh! They are genuinely made to believe they gave birth to those children. Years down the line DNA of course will reveal the truth and the confusion sets in.

    4. I was swapped at birth, i had issues with my aunt and in a fit of rage she said. If not for me, you wouldnt be here today talking back at me. I ended the arguement and she xplained to me how she caught the nurse swapping me when my mom was weak. So assumin my dad did a dna if the nurse succeeded in the act. My mother would have been labeled an unfaithful woman! So while we pass judgements. We should also becareful

    5. Anon 14:26 That's why some of us are saying the mother should be tested, too. If she was a victim of cryptic pregnancy scam - meaning she was never pregnant - the DNA result will show the child isn't hers too.

  3. Maybe her kids were switched at birth. That's the only reason I can think of now.

  5. Before they drag the woman all over town, they should do a repeat in another lab at least 2 other non connected labs. People do make mistakes sometimes even in laboratories. Imagine giving the man the report for another family.
After running the tests in 3 different labs and it comes out same, the woman should go produce the real father to those kids.

    3. Abi o! Were all the children switched at birth? But absurd as it is for all the children to be switched at birth, it is not also impossible (when we apply the conspiracy theory). Great peace of mind and much joy and happiness can be produced when children are raised in a home where mother and father honour marital vows. What better way for the Devil to bring the world under his control than by attacking the very basic unit of its existence - family. Yet the Devil only has as much power over our lives as we give him. If fathers, mothers and children can all rise to defend the honour and sanctity of the family unit, then our society will be healed and be a Paradise on Earth

  10. That can only be accurate if the nurses switch the child after delivery or wrong result. Or if the person that carried out the test made a mistake apart from these scenarios i don't think a DNA test can be wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I don't know about inaccuracy but i do know there are two types of DNAs and then there's the CHIMERA ancestry.

However, i think DNA testing directly after birth should be a common practice just like drug tests for a job is needed. Even junkies don't get offended by that so if you have nothing to hide, i don't see the problem.

    3. @Anon please encourage the man to forgive his wife. The children can be officially adopted into the family. We can follow God's example and how he adopts us into Abraham's family to be blessed. The power of the Atonement can heal this family and make them whole again. They would however need the help of spiritually minded people. Can you be of help to them?

    5. The woman is funny. She loves the man, ke? The man is saying one thing, she's saying another thing with no co-relation. No, this isn't a few minutes of grabbing whatever. She has 3 whole children that she tried to deceive her husband into accepting as his own. It's not like the man is impotent or infertile as some in similar situations may want to use as an excuse. She's not even worried about who her children might meet in future; they might accidentally marry their own siblings raised in other families and they'll be answering questions they don't understand cos one woman somewhere lied. She's a selfish, wicked woman.

When pregnancy enters the chatroom, they choose the man who seems to be the most responsible, and one who will marry them quickly to avoid "embarrassment".

  15. A friend just confided in me this year that his 13 years old daughter from his long time ex chic is not his biological daughter . He decided to take the girl over from naija to the UK where he’s based .A DNA was scheduled as part of the routine and it was confirmed that the child wasn’t his . He confronted the mom and he said it was obvious that she didn’t know as well. She actually admitted sleeping with the guy’s Neighbour same time they were dating but when the child came out fair she was sure it wasn’t the side guy’s baby(who was really dark) . He felt really betrayed because he’s been taking responsibility for the past 13years

Take your own hairbrush with your hair on it, and a hairbrush belonging to your "brother". They should run the test. It won't give an almost infallible result like between parent and child. But it'll be enough to give you some answers. You're either related or you're not. Thank me later.

I have been peeping into the topic to see the lady that will threaten that if her husband ask for DNA or she discovers that he conducted DNA test on the kids, she would leave the marriage cos it proves he doesn't trust her. Na God save una say una no dey give that nonsense excuse again. The kind swear weh I for give you today ehn! I believe it's ladies that should even be clamoring for DNA test sef but how can they when them go dey "steal" forks up and down.
See men dying young and having heart attacks daily. No one wants to discuss the issues men face, just go back to last Saturday's morning topic where Stella raised an issue of why there's a day to celebrate female children but none for men, NO ONE asin both the guy's and the girls did as if they saw that issue that Stella raised. But if it concerns females you will see all these useless men forming commando everywhere. Una no get sense.
Most ladies are against DNA test cos they say it proves the man doesn't trust them, but this same ladies see no wrong in snooping.. is that not the same thing? Snooping also proves you don't trust oga.
They hate when a topic of virginity comes up but they're Okay belittling men, comparing one success to another. Talking about how they must marry a rich man. But it will be problem when a guy says he must marry a virgin.
It's very okay for them to quickly call a guy whose comments doesn't tally with theirs a broke man.. but if a guy calls them a hoe there would be problem. I'm sure Stella won't even approve such hoe comments but she approves the broke ass comments. Why is it okay to shame a man with his pride but not okay to do same to a lady? Double standards everywhere.
    Men are becoming endangered species.

  19. This is why we make sure a mother holds her baby after birth and gets transferred together to the lying in ward and if its cs your relation especially your spouse must receive the baby directly meters from the theatre. Even if we are having multiple deliveries one mother must push out her infant first. You must hold your baby and we cut the cord while you are holding your infant. Can't answer questions in furture abeg.

  20. About 80% of children in Nigeria are born by another man other than the husband. There should be mandatory DNA test, followed by nailing on the cross if result comes back that the lady cheated. I will volunteer my service for the nailing of those women.

  21. It's very rare to get false readings and if the results of the test is controversial, a second test is usually done for confirmation. What are the odds that the second will give false readings too? Highly unlikely or near impossible. The DNA tests done at reputable laboratories are admissible in court and deemed accurate in determining paternity issues.

In cases where the baby, unbeknownst to both parents, was switched at birth and the DNA test shows the husband or the man in question isn't the father and the wife or lady in question is adamant that she hasn't been with another man, a DNA test will be done to determine maternity. If the test shows she is the mother, she will have some explaining to do but if the test shows she isn't, the switched at birth narrative will be more probable.

I have handled some cases where paternity was one of the issues. In one of the cases, the husband was suing for divorce and when the wife's lawyer filed for child maintenance, the man challenged it on the ground that he is not the biological father of the child. To resolve this issue, the court ordered that a DNA test be conducted. The result showed that the man was not the father of the child. The lady didn't protest when the court struck out that relief. The most dramatic, which happened recently, was about a couple whose first daughter was about to get married. The father objected to the union because it turned out the mother of the groom-to- be was an old flame he knocked up way back when. Apparently she refused to get an abortion and passed on the pregnancy to the man who wanted to get married to her. That was the last this man heard about her and the pregnancy.

He moved on too, got married and had kids. The boy's mother died a couple of years ago but during the informal introduction of both families, the father of the bride-to-be found out his blast from the past was the biological mother of the groom-to-be. It just so happens that the boy has some striking qualities of the father of the bride-to-be. To cut a lengthy, chaotic story short, the father of the bride-to-be insisted on a DNA test to be conducted on him and the groom-to-be. Guess what? Nope! Not a match at all. He did another DNA test to be doubly sure, same result. The striking qualities just happens to be a freaky coincidence. Not sure what happened to the pregnancy, though. It's either the late woman lied initially or after her marriage, she lost the pregnancy.

Unfortunately, the wedding was still called off. I guess they were all too creeped out by the sordid history.
