DeleteFrom the 1st box 2 is the one number that is correct and well placed, in the 2nd box 4 is the correct number but its not well placed. In the 3rd box, the 2 correct numbers wrongly placed are 0 and 2. The 4th box clears numbers 7,3 and 8 as options. In the last box the number correct but wrongly placed is 0.

Delete@Essa, I understand your explanation though it's not detailed enough. But what about 1, any reason you didn't choose it? My point is that,it could have been 1 instead of 4 since we were not given any other hint about both numbers. So I chose 042 or 012.

5th box, remove 7,8 since its already eliminated, so save 0
From box one and two, 6 cannot be right and wrong at the same time, so its not 6 in the first position, and remember 8 is out of the running so its 2 in the right position
4 appears only once least chance of error, so I took 4.
I assumed 402 or 042, but from box three, 0 cannot be in the middle, so I guess 0,4,2

@ Mc Pinky, 6 can never be part of the lock numbers. If in box 1 only one number is right and well placed is 2, how come you're choosing 6 in box 2? It still in the same position it occupied in box 1.
