Female Corps Members Decamped For Refusing To Wear Khaki Trousers And White Shorts

Two female corps members in Ebonyi state, Batch C, Stream one who are undergoing orientation in camp have been sent packing for refusing to wear the mandatory khaki trousers and white shorts.

The duo were seen during an inspection by the camp director, Isu Josephine and when queried admitted they could not wear the shorts and trousers as it was contrary to their religious beliefs.

Okafor Love Obianuju and Odji Oritsetsolaye were brought before the officials of the camp and made to understand it was mandatory to comply to the rules, but they stood their grounds.

They were subsequently charged to camp court, found guilty and thereafter de-kitted and sent home.

    1. But the power that play did same in the past without any consequences. After all Festus Keyamo (SAN) refused to recite the national anthem during the senate screening and nothing was done to him.

    2. Good for them.

    3. If Muslims are allowed to wear hijab because of their belief, why force these new to wear trousers?

  2. I am in support of this and I'll tell you why: can a lady join any branch of the military and refuse to obey the rules of the military? No. Both ladies can refuse to serve if they don't want to follow the set rules of the NYSC.

    1. Point of correction.
These ladies did not "join," they were mandated to join. Perhaps conscripted
      is the right word.

    2. Nobody is mandated to serve Nigeria as a corp member. They could have collected Exemption letters if they didn't want serve

Does Nigeria exempt anyone that is below 30 years?
Or you are talking about Niger Republic?

    4. Anon 13:54 you can't collect exemption letter if you're not above 30 years as at the time you graduate, or part time student and some like that. This was what caused Kemi Adeosun her job

    5. @Larry okay now i know. I had a coursemate then who collected exemption letter. I didn't know it is because of her age.

    6. Serving is not by force.
You can always refuse to show up at the camp. Nobody will hold you at gunpoint for that.

You think it is everybody that has "bigz" buttocks that can make a way for them?

  3. This is wrong by NYSC. If they can allow hidjab for some ladies based on religious inclinations,
why not allow skirt for some?
Even tell them they've got to provide one themselves?

We are talking about double standards here. The Muslims are religiously comfortable in their Khaki and when they complained about not wearing hijab, they were allowed to do so.
These ladies are not comfortable in their Khaki for religious reasons, why force it on them?
Has it got anything to do with the person in "fower?"

  4. Abeg the authorities should consider them, Afterall the ilorin Lady that insisted on using her hijab was called to bar. It is the same case.

  5. They got what they deserved.
You can’t be too holy for the government. No wonder Jesus said give unto Ceaser that which is Ceaser’s and unto God that which is God’s.

Jesus was talking from a monetary perspective; tithes to God, taxes to Caesar.
That was why he berated the Pharisees and teachers of the law for being thoughtless
      about the payment of tithes.
Please do not like others hide under the "give Caesar..."mantra to perpetrate evils.
I've read some ladies on this blog talking about fornication and abortions as giving to Caesar...
That's giving your lives to the devils

  8. Why bother with going to the camp in the 1st place when you know you won't abide by their rules?

  9. Go home if you cannot conform to the standing rules and regulations that has been there long before you were born. You know it’s against your religion yet you carry your two left legs there or they think exceptions will be made for them. I don’t just understand some people.

I am sure they are deeper life members. Na dem!

  10. As should be! I don't know who they think they are. when in rome, you do like the romans

That’s how they make life difficult for themselves. Na them holy pass.

  12. Some people think nysc was founded because of them. Anybody that cannot put on the standard uniform should go home and rest. Is putting on the correct uniform worse than the sin of the heart. Hmmmmmm

  13. Please, what's bad in wearing trousers??
Where in the Bible was it mentioned women shouldn't wear trousers? Please, don't come here and tell me DON'T WEAR WHAT BELONGS TO A MAN cuz there's no where in the Bible men wore trousers, it was garments(gowns)!!!!

The Bible only says women shouldn't wear what a guy has already WORN.

  14. Before grandstanding, inquire! We've had Deeper lifers who've gone for service. What did the wear? It's not compulsory to serve especially if you're going to run your own business but once you accept the order, you'll have to do everything according to the laid down rules
