The 32-year-old picked up the trophy in a ceremony in Paris on Monday night becoming the first player to win the award on six occasions, having been tied with Ronaldo on five.
Messi and Ronaldo dominated the Ballon d’Or for a decade between 2008 and 2017, winning five apiece in that time.
"I would like to thank all the journalists who have voted for me, who wanted me to win this prize. Thank you so much to my colleagues from the club, and all my colleagues who have contributed a lot for this prize. It's really amazing", Messi said while receiving the award.

ReplyDeleteIs it me or Messi looks very humble.
How I love me some Messi!
ReplyDeleteComparing himself to Ronaldo is mostly uncalled for because both are great in their own ways. Messi is like Rihanna (it is inborn). While Ronaldo is the Beyonce of football (a product of hard work and lots of effort).
Messi is doing what he was born to do, and he's excellent at it. Ronaldo is doing what he was trained to do, and he's excellent at it...
How dare you compare beyonce works like that. Beyonce is one of the greatest.
