Mrs Dee's Corner -Stealing Because Of Hunger

Hunger can deal with anyone not minding their status.  .....

Mama Bimbola is a very Peaceful woman. Her four children gave her so much hope in life. She lives in a public compound and never had issues with anyone.

Not too long, she began to experience the winter period of her life. Life was not fair to her. The peak was when her Children began to endure hunger for days while she watched helplessly.

The family purse had dwindled with for no reason at all...

Mama Nike is known for her delicacies she prepares in the common kitchen every other tenant uses. Mama Bimbola stole her pot of food, in order to feed her Children who were starving...

Mama Nike cursed on top of voice but never suspected her.

It happened again after few weeks.

Chai! Hunger is a terror. After about 72hrs without food, she stole Mama Nike's pot of 'amala'.

Policemen were called in and a search was conducted. The amala pot was found in Mama Bimbola's room where her Children were eating it with Palm oil.

she was forgiven and given another pot of amala and rich soup for her Children. The shame is still there but Mama Nike showed empathy.

Can hunger make you steal if the opportunity presents itself? I just wonder how any other person would have reacted....

  2. Honestly even if i want to die, i won't steal. That's one thing I'm very sure of myself, that i will never do. Instead of stealing, i rather beg for it

  3. Hunger can not make me steal, I'd rather beg than do that.
God bless mama Nike, she's such a nice and compassionate person.
Can't stand seeing hungry kids, it's heartbreaking.
But some people are so selfish when it comes to food. Even when you beg them for some, they refuse with some kind of flimsy excuse.
One thing my parents taught us is to never see a hungry man and pass by/ignore.
Food can make people do unthinkable things. For us that have variety of food, we don't know what God has done for us.

    Sluttychic.

  5. Why steal when you can just ask/beg for help? Eissh!

She's also inadvertently teaching her kids to steal too.

    1. That's the irony of her action. I pray help come their way.

  6. I can never steal but may we never come to a situation when we'll think we'll have to steal.

Mama Bimbola should have begged for help from her neighbours instead of stealing. People generally don't like to see children hungry so they would have helped especially in a Face-Me-I-Face-You compound where the children generally play together.

  7. Hunger has made my mom steal bunch of plantain from our landlords garden when we we're growing up. We will cook the plantain and eat it with Palm oil then. Thank God that we don't look like what we've been through in life. Today my mummy is enjoying her life with me over here in America.
No condition is permanent in life. Keep pushing, one day your breakthrough will come.

  8. Mama Bimbola didn't need to steal. As she's known as a peaceful woman, people would have readily come to her aid if she asked. The after effects of being caught stealing is too humiliating. She would eventually leave the compound out of shame.

  9. Empathetic Nigerian women like mama Nike are few, very few
I won't steal because of hunger. If one is so hungry, beg.
But how do you show empathy to beggars on the streets?
    Ajuju n'ese okwu o
Okay, let's talk about the other hunger, which Naija girls
dey hunger and drag in, strip the dude of 105 naira and 😮😮😮

Proverbs 6:…29So is he who sleeps with another man’s wife; no one
who touches her will go unpunished. 30Men do not despise the thief
    if he steals to satisfy his hunger. 31Yet if caught, he must pay sevenfold;
    he must give up all the wealth of his house.…32 The one who commits adultery† lacks sense;
    whoever does so destroys himself.†
33 He will get a beating† and dishonor,
and his disgrace will never be removed.

Una see am? The disgrace of the woman who stole
will be removed but how about the one that steals fork?

Ndi uta can shoot but Abeg answer these sincere ajujus from the Scriptures o.

  12. The only reason that can make me forgive a thief is if he stole food to feed himself, I wonder how people can be so wicked and stingy to the extent of not giving out food. That's one of the good things people love about my mum, she shares her food like she is giving out cups of water and she said that's her source of blessing and we should try and emulate her.

    1. Exactly what I wrote about on Sp sometime ago. Hunger is a very bad thing and could push some people to do unthinkable things. Let's not hesitate to feed the hungry at any given opportunity.

    1. ANG? That name is a year old here o. It means Anonymous Naija Girls.
No epistle by ANG that you won't find "Naija girls" in it. Always preaching to Naija Girls.
