  4. On empowerment,I have previously said that a genuine empowerment will try to take into consideration the individual differences and aspirations.

    Nska, my Nska!!!

Chinwe my sister! Na my kinsman but I am shamed

I have said this somewhere today. Gov. Ugwuanyi is just doing "nrashi" and resurrecting people with dead political career. See Senator Nnamani, now Chinwe Ugwu

  5. This is a start, and I will want to say that right off the bat.

My issue however is that, the method of empowerment offered by a leader is a reflection of the size of a leader's vision and passion for the people or the degree of lack of the same. This leader's vision gets a bunch of young able bodied men competing for kaya (largely excluding many other demography in a region faced with high levels of extreme poverty). I wonder how large this market is? In the face of extreme poverty, this is an excellent start. But, can this actually lift someone out of poverty given time and effort? Clearly it cannot.

Believe me, some dude will happily push wheelbarrow for life if over 10years or 20years of dedicated labour, it puts food in the family's belle, provides ownership of a comfortable house no matter how small and allows one to live a simple but content and healthy life when the body is too tired to push the wheelbarrow. Without a clarity of a future, the excited wheelbarrow pushers of today will become the despondent youths of tomorrow.

So, while this wheelbarrow initiative is good start where there is extreme poverty, I wait to see the next action. A next action built on the back of a vision that empowers a people to lift themselves out of poverty with their own hands over time. All the leader needs do is remove the huddles and provide a vision.

For those Nigerians live in developed countries, is that not a major part of what the leaders of those countries do? In some places, they provide a common vision, something the poeple can believe in and fall behind. With huddles removed and a clear vision, one can work hard and long. I work harder in my current country of residence than when I was in Nigeria because I am not spread thin dealing with mondane huddles. I can be focussed and I see how my efforts translate into results.

    2. The traveller you are mad!!! I try to see the sarcasm in your write but deep down this isn't sarcasm but mockery and stupidity! In a country like Nigeria the giant of Africa you are encouraging wheelbarrow pushing for the youths? Are you high on cheap weed? Anybody that agrees with you is high on cheap urine! Nigeria should have past the wheelbarrow stages but now but for people like encouraging the none nitty-gritty attitude in the name of empowering the youths we are still in shambles oh God! What is our crime? Even a dish washer in Canada lives comfortably but the man that sweats and toil still nothing. What a pity.

    3. Interesting response. What I wrong contained zero sarcasm. If you are unable or unwilling to read and assimilate the full detail of what I wrote, then I really can't help you much.

At the risk of wasting my time, all I can suggest to you is, take off your anger and bias, then read again to gain full understanding instead of focusing on a sentence or two. If you still don't get it, don't bother, you can't. Still no sarcasm here.
One more thing, throwing cheap insults around has never made any country or person better. The only think it does it speak volumns of the quality of person who is so quick to insult and slow to seek understanding.

    4. To everyone else who may be interested in my specific comment, I am of the philosophy that when someone has made an attempt, even if I don't think it is good enough. I acknowledge the effort first, suggest ways of improving.

My comment stems from this philosophy.

Does buying wheelbarrow seem enough? Not a chance! But it is a first, though grossly insufficient first step. Now, a next step needs to be taken. A next step founded on something enduring, not a fix for today.

    5. Took my own suggestion and read your response over. Looking past the insult, I don't disagree with you. In fact, the later part of your comment buttresses my point. A dishwasher in a developped country can still able to make ends meet, but a wheelbarrow pusher can't do the same in Nigeria. Significant effort in Nigeria often goes unrewarded in commensurate fashion. Some of the most economically viable middle class people I know here are capenters and plumbers, and they are very happy too.

My emphasis was never about the wheelbarrow but about the bigger picture of building an economically viable nation, based on a clear vision. Where even if all you can find to do is push a wheelbarrow (and I use this example cautiously, but for emphasis because when we arrive at that point, noone will be needed to push a wheelbarrows, or do househelp - things which trive in Nigeria because of extreme poverty), you can still have a life that sits above the poverty lines.

    6. Boy/girl shut up! Pick a side, draw the line fight battles sticking to your side stop dilly-dallying what do you know about philosophy? everything you wrote up there is wrong in all sphere no matter how you try to buttress it! It's an insult and a slap to the common man. I hope you know these barrow pusher earn little I mean very little think about a man that works under this scorching sun,day and night yet what he earns is barely enough for him to feed do you think if he sees a dubious means he won't give it a chance? Let's not even mention integrity because not a lot of people can hold on to suffering for that long. The man sharing barrow ask him if he allow his daughter or sons become barrow pushers? It's a pity the creator didn't make everyone equal. I feel pity for Africans it's because of their silence and cowardice and fear that make most man swallow shit! You call this clear vision? Oh wow!! There are many ways to improve jobs for the masses honey! Gifting barrows will only worsen the whole situations let's even talk about the wheelbarrows see how rusty and dirty they look he should at least gifted them a new ones. They are not building any visions they are constituting more nuisance need I remind you that some wheelbarrow pushers die in accident every year, some wheelbarrow pushers cause accident every year because of the hustle and bustle to carry loads. Smh you are a disgrace. Stella I don't want to look for this comment please.

    7. ....In addition to reponse to the "the traveller" whom I doubt has left the shores of Africa read other bvs response you will see why you and your kinds are a joke! Smh the barrow is even on hire purchase that means after they've finished working they will give whoever gave them the wheel barrow their commission better yet, at one point in time, they'd return the barrow you are typing rubbish if I had know you in person I would have given you a dirty slap!
