EFCC's Magu Decries UK’s Refusal to Extradite Allison-Madueke

Ibrahim Magu, the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC has decried the refusal of the United Kingdom (UK), to extradite former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Allison-Madueke, to face trial for alleged money laundering in Nigeria.

The EFCC boss disclosed that the Commission had sufficient evidence to prosecute Allison-Madueke for the alleged financial malfeasance she committed while in office.

The looted funds, traced to Allison-Madueke and others, he noted, could be used to keep the wheel of the nation’s economy rolling if recovered.

“We don’t want to keep chasing everybody as a suspect. We want everybody who has stolen from the commonwealth to bring it back to Nigeria, so as to use the monies to provide the needed infrastructure,” he stated, disclosing that the Commission would build more detention facilities and open additional zonal offices so as to bring the anti-corruption fight, nearer home to the people.

  1. In as much as I would love corrupt politicians be probed and sentenced accordingly, Magu should spare us this constant noise making about UK extradition of Diezani. He should get himself busy if the UK has refuse to do that or is that the only problem facing Nigeria? Has he finish prosecuting those in Nigeria? Or is he trying to show how serious he want us to believe he is?

  3. Let them continue looking for Dezieani that is not within reach while overlooking Ganduje and his likes whose evidence was caught on video.

Talking about Dezieani and targeting "yahoo boys" at least shows they are working.

  4. I love ds. God bless them for not listening to u people. Alison is not d problem of ds country. U guys should continue to eat yours in peace & let her nurse her illness. U want her to come & die here. U have so many corrupt politicians from d previous administration working with ds govt without questioning them, talk less of trial, but u are only concerned about specific individuals for obvious reasons. If una like make una try wetin una do to Umaru Dikko during ds same Buhari & Idiagbo’s regime, UK dey wait una. See wetin Boko Haram dey do to both civilians & Nigerian soldiers, How many souls have been wasted for d past couple of days, even yday? Una dey look for Alison. A very big thank u to UK govt.

  6. If they can show us the infrastructures that they have put up so far with all the looted monies they recovered in the past, then we may start taking them seriously.

  7. Mugu should wake up and face reality, as Dezieani is diplomatically immune from prosecution. Cry river will not help you on this sectoral fight.
