This COVID19 don open plenty churches and pastors their nyash, as for me... no more church for me, online things after the pandemic, im connecting to TD jakes church.
ReplyDeleteMy small tiny parish has been giving out foodstuffs to members every week since this lockdown started. They have quickly organised the one for this two-week extension sef. Abeg churches should rise up to help in their little way in this trying period please.
DeleteDid he inform the church he was sick? If not how would dey v known. I know some churches r not it but d attack this days no Nd here. So we shld kuku stop going to church ?never ! He shld v put d name of d church if it’s true like others do . Clout
Delete11:14 you are truly brain washed. One day you will learn.
DeleteDoes he have to? Most especially being sick. Missing in church on 2 Sunday services is enough for them and if they have welfare dept to call him and ask if everything is well with him. That is the responsibility of any good church. After all, Jesus says that “ If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them goes astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine and go to the mountains to seek the one that is straying?”. Guess church this days is all about money and not about the worshippers #smh
DeleteAmy let's assume he didn't what stopped the church from reaching out when they haven't seen or heard from him in a long time?but they could remember to dail his number cause of check? What does that tell of them?
DeleteWat is anon 12:02 saying ? Pls we are human beings here not sheep! Some churches v over 1000 members . Or shld they b doing roll call every Sunday like it’s high school? Pple shld b realistic pls . Join a small cell unit or workers department that way it’s easier to track missing members
DeleteHe wasn't in church for 2weeks and no one noticed, but they noticed the unsigned cheque
DeleteIt depends on how big the church is and is he in a department?
Delete@ Unusual, then the church should not bother on the unsigned cheque. If they cannot do roll call, why are they eager that the cheque be signed?
DeleteAssuming the man was critically ill and could not communicate??
DeleteIf he's a regular tithe payer and always use cheque to pay. Then, it's enough reason for them to notice his absence and look for him.
Unusual Amy, that's why we have cells and units in church. That way each member of the church can be accounted for.
DeleteGolibe, how will they notice his absence? Do they pay tithe evry Sunday?? SMH!!
DeleteIf it's a big congregation and he's not in any group, there's NO way they would notice!! Did they force him to pay tithe??
Enough of church this and that, allow people decide for themselves.
ReplyDelete@Liz but he didn't put a gun on any of you who want to die there from going to church. He is expressing his point of view, you too do your own.
DeleteThat was how I was on my way driving home from church and another member's car broke down with some members he gave a ride inside. Could you belive they came down, entered my own car and asked me to "Let's go madam, it's getting dark and this place is dangerous". So we should leave the other man whose car broke down?!
Stella this matter is not just about the church leadership, Christians of today are terrible! Coupled with the kind of judgmental personality and hate they exhibit even on this blog...nah I quit church going since last year and have no plans to go anywhere near one soon.
People can decide for themselves after hearing other people's stories.
DeleteSapphire, thank you. Did I write that. Nothing Christian about their lives 😔
DeleteNawa.
ReplyDeleteIn the name of Nebuchadnezzar kwa?
ReplyDeleteOh Chim oh!!!
He is a comedian.
DeleteIf a member of a denomination is missing from church service for at least three consecutive Sundays, the least the church can do is to call the member to know if they are doing well. That is why they have the welfare group in churches.
ReplyDeleteThey remembered him because the cheque he sent did not go through. That is the kind of church leaders we have today, they care so much about monies, they have forgotten the teachings of Jesus Christ.
Some churches are so big that they won't even notice that a member is sick or not coming to church at all. The best way to feel integrated in big churches is by belonging to small units or home cell groups. That way, help can be rendered through the small unit when a member is in need. Most times, the leaders in the small group can escalate the member's situation to the church leadership and help can be easily rendered.
DeleteAnon 10:59 God bless you
DeleteFor a congregation of less than 100 I guess or do people sign in when they come to church every Sunday?
DeleteI bet you no church is so big that they won't noticed that a member is missing, especially a member that pays his or her tithes constantly.
DeleteI know this because i was member of a very large parish and I was a worker too.
10:59 thank you.
DeleteI for share personal story but I no get strength to type.
Hmmmmm catholic church won't be able to keep up except if you are know very well or through your society or denominations. That is if you belong to any. If you are just the type that goes to shurch only on Sundays, they will not notice and I don't blame them because people plenty
DeleteMs A, my church on a one service Sunday we normally have nothing less than 2000 members inside the main auditorium excluding overflow, children and teenagers.
DeleteWho you Wan know say e come church or not if the person is not a worker?
For him to lament about it meant they were supposed to have checked on him
DeleteThings you do when you go to church, do them for the Love of Jesus and personal understanding of who He is and what He expects of you. Try not to let all of the church politics get into the head.. Yes I said it .. A lot of church politics if you're not careful you'll be carried away by feeling too important or somehow neglected like that young man there.
ReplyDeleteI was listening to Good Good Father the other day, and all that matters is that my heavenly Father is pleased with me.
You couldn't have said it any better. So true, do whatever you do as unto the Lord.
DeleteAnother thing is most likely the church is big and this person does not belong to any group.
That is if the story is true or someone just wants to trend
I totally agree with you.
ReplyDeleteSomething like that happened to me. I was driving in company of my daughter and a rough danfo driver hit me and flung me out of my car. I was unconscious. My daughter wept uncontrollably calling our pastor's wife who is a pastor too. She ignored the cry.
I was admitted after so much persuasion by my daughter and was in the hospital for a week.Xray done I recovered. I called my daughter teenager pastor to complain to. But that was after I made up my mind to change church.
Though she later called to apologise claiming she did not know the caller but this caller was in tears. And you have been using this caller for teenage programm in the church.
Despite her apology I still found it difficult to continue in the church. I am waiting for them to be transfered out of the parish to resume cause they normally transfer them every 5 years.
This is bad.... If you reached out personally and you're ignored, then it's bad!!
DeleteFor a large church where the member does not attend the home cell meeting, the church may not be aware of his state of health or his absence but where I'm confused his asking for his tithe.
ReplyDeleteIf they can ask for his tithe that means they know him. Whether he told them about his state of health or not, asking him personally to pay his tithe doesn't seem right to me.
*is
DeleteNope, the church did not ask for his tithe. He paid but deliberately didn't sign his cheques and that got the attention of the church's accountant as it rightly should. It's his job
DeleteI'm guessing he's a known member of his church and expected his absence from church to be noticed just like the unsigned cheques.
Read and understand. He sent the cheque but didn't sign it. They didn't call him to pay the tithe, they were calling for the signature.
DeleteImagine someone attending a church like house on the rock with thousands of members, you think they'd easily notice if someone was absent????
If he had called to tell them he was sick and they ignored then this would be a totally different convo.
We really need to stop jumping on the bandwagon to bash churches and Christianity. We are Christians for crying out loud. Why are we trying to help unbelievers to destroy the church?????
There are things worth speaking against but it seems like people just look for the flimsiest reason to bash the church.
House on the rock is even far!!
DeleteCatholic and Anglican Churches nko? With that crowd, how do they keep up? Except you're in one group or the other!!
People always looking for ways to slam the church!!!
God bless you Eka Joy. All of them forming "woke" and looking for opportunity to talk down on the church. Nevertheless, the church is moving on and the gates of hell cannot prevail over it
DeleteA brother that attend Living Faith, Kano was sick few years back. Someone that used to give the church N1M and above, had a special sit/seat. The sickness drained him and the millions stopped coming, no visit, no help, in fact, his sit was later given to another big donor. He survived the sickness but things wasn't the same, they forgot about him. I think he later left the church or so.
DeleteSad this happen to you. Better confront them even if want to change your place of worship
ReplyDeleteThe church without Mercy is fraud... ~ Pat. John Hagee.
ReplyDeleteIf it's a large congregation and he doesn't belong to any unit or house fellowship, no one will know he was absent.
ReplyDeleteOga, they did no wrong calling you to enquire about some errors in your tithe and offering. If you didn't send the cheque to them, they won't call you to tell you it's time to pay tithe.
Thank u
DeleteEXACTLY!!!
DeleteRight ✅
DeleteThank you o @swaglafresh
DeleteProblem with alot of us is that we are so used to going to 'church' every Sunday. Anyone who does not got to church is branded a sinner. We are so used to idolizing the man on the pulpit that we forget to carefully study scriptures for ourselves. Anyone who tells you to forget about the politics or things that happen around you in your so called church organisations is ignorant. Whilst we are not all perfect beware of so called men of God who are not transparent, not accountable and can not be questioned. Beware of the one who implies that he or she is infallible and has reached perfection and knows the Bible from A to z. Beware of the church organisation that will heap you with guilt for not paying your tithes or giving your offerings. Beware of the church organisation that comes across as being better than other Christian churches. Many so called church-goers see the above signs but because some have been brainwashed without knowing it they remain. Brother/Sister any Christian organisation exhibiting most of the traits I just mentioned above, do not associate with, evil communication corrupts good manners.
ReplyDeletePlease run from such, for they do not serve Christ but their belly which is their god.
God bless you richly for this nicely put comment 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
DeleteThank you for speaking these truths.
DeleteAt the end let no man guilt trip you. God will bless who he wants to bless, regardless. God kukuma loves you as you are, we cannot bribe him. Read your bible and pray, God will confirm his words to you. Pastor Na still human being. Na only Jesus wey God send o! So, wisen up.
DeleteThank you so much for saying 'this' thing the way it should be said 🙌. Anon 13:00 this desccibes how my relationship with God is right now. That, no matter what,God loves me ❤️. Nobody guilt trips me anymore cos They ain't any better 😏
DeleteYou are the church of Jesus first of all. And if you reside in Nigeria, gone are the days of brotherly love, except for a few churches. All they think is tithe and offering forgetting that the covenant is unto God, not man. Nigerian churches are a big disappointment in as much as they advise joining a small unit to be known. What if it was an unbeliever, shouldn't they care first before thinking money? All I do is follow the bible not church especially the ones here because all they have is only a form of godliness without the power of God.
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteDear Lord,
You seen this tithe of 500000 Naira and 1 million naira or dollars, your daughter will like to be the next giver of it to you.
Amen
KING XOXO MYSTERY
Amen
Amen oooh
DeleteHonestly, that's all I took from this story.
DeletePaying of tithe is fraud my people. Please wake up
ReplyDeleteBig one! It only benefits them and their desires. They don't scare me anymore.
DeleteI really overwhelmed with love when after a robbery attack at my work place last year, the first relief call I got was from my Pastor. I had not even left the scene, he asked if I was okay and all. Mehn, I felt soooo loved. And when we were arrested for "conniving" with the robbers, he sent Pastors to check on me and did everything he could to bail me. God finally took me out of that situation, but my respect for my Pastor tripled. And no, my tithe is not even up to 30k, so it's not the tithe. But if I had not received any help, I would have still continued attending the Church because I expect nothing from anybody. I'm interested in my service to God and I know nobody owes me anything. #IloveRhapsody
ReplyDeleteAnon 11:54. Good story and God bless your pastor but it's your hashtag after your write up tagging me or... Make i no reason another thing. ok bye!
DeleteSo, how did your pastor know about your incident. From what you said you were still at the accident scene. Just curious?
DeleteThe news went round in less than 5minutes. Even banks in another town heard about it and closed while we were still being robbed. Then the hashtag is to identify with you baby. I hope you understand
DeleteWhen I attended mfm,no body ever took my details till I left.nobody ever called me.
ReplyDeleteEven another I attended and got married there,it is the same thing.
That one if anybody want to join any dept they will go and seek the pastor's consent,he must know what they are doing in the house of God,he must know any contribution
Na wa
ReplyDeleteIf the church is a large one the Pastor may not know him in person but if he belongs to a unit/group/cell fellowship, the leaders there should be asked why a unit member will be absent fo weeks and not be checked on..the argument that he didn't inform them does not hold water. He didn't inform you, did you bother to find out why he has not been in Church?
ReplyDeleteGod will help the Church at this time..Brotherly love is what the church should display. If you don't hear from your brother/sister as you use to will you not be bothered? Won't you go all length to find out if he/she is okay? Would you say he/she didn't inform you?
Religion in Africa is a scam
ReplyDeletePastor open office for a sole purpose of collecting money from his member.
Any other thing aside tithe and offerings are side attraction.
No church for me again for this life. Nobody can tell me anything about God.
Exactly Don that is so me right now 😂
DeleteWhen my mum and dad separated and asked my mum to leave the house that they joinytly built, having being ministers in the church. She stopped attending mainly because the members and Pastors didnt ask her how she was faring or even try to settle the issue. She became really bitter and resentful, and I'm sure she's still bitter. One thing I told her was not to blame them. Many of these people face a lot of challenges and they may not even remember to help you face yours while facing theirs. I also made it clear to her that she should quit expecting things from people.
ReplyDeleteIt will be very unfair to decide from these chats that the Church is not merciful to him because we don't know the whole story. While, it may be true that the Church didn't ask after him, there might be underlying reasons. If his tithe was about 500 naira, would he still have been hurt that the Church didn't ask after him. In my opinion, he feels, given the amount of tithe he pays(cos he even stated it here, and I'm wondering why), he should be considered an important person and should be recognized by the Church. Having said that, I encourage people to quit bashing churches. Nobody forces anybody to go to Church or give tithe. And if you attach your importance to the amount of tithe you give and expect to be treated like president, stop going to Church. I know people who don't give tithe at all, and those who give it elsewhere, life is a choice. If the Church you attend doesn't suit you, stop going to Church, don't even attend another, cos you'll face the same issue there. If you must go to Church, do it for the love of God and expect nothing in return.
So your dad asked your mom to leave the house they built together?
DeleteHmmm
KING XOXO MYSTERY
Your father asked your mum to leave the house both of them built together?
DeleteBoth of them were ministers in the same church yet the church could not do anything to settle them amicably.
Hmmmmmm. Okay...
If you want to serve God abeg serve him. Don't go looking for excuses not to.
ReplyDeleteI understand what he is saying. I have been attending this mega church for about 15 years. I have tried to set up an appointment with the Bishop for almost a year.at every angle I have been discouraged.i have tried email, call through secretary and all the proper channels. For where? Questions upon questions , like I am writing war exam.My dear, Na so I respect myself.
ReplyDeleteMaybe the guy didn't reach out to them when he was sick. It can be quite disheartening when a church gets too big to listen to the heartbeat of the members. We need to do a better job as a church. There is always room for improvement
Oga or madam for 15 years you have been trying, that is really ba.d
DeleteMega churches have these kind of problems.
The workers there always make things difficult.
Oga you try. I won't stay in that church at all.
Reading comprehension is a must. See the people that advise all ye chronicle writers...
DeleteWow....cant believe people are actually paying that much for tithe. anyways each man to his own. Sigh.
ReplyDeleteOga you are a disgrace to the body of Christ. Do you know who kept you till date.
ReplyDeleteYou should be ashamed for deliberately doing that.
God is not a man. You can stop paying tithes and that does not stop the work of God in churches.
What a shame. People always looking to talk bad about the body of Christ
I really thank God for Redeemed church especially my parish.
ReplyDeleteThey are so caring and loving.
In this Covid19, food relief has been shared several times except you don't want. Even account credited with cash.
Whether, you pays tithe or not, church should look out for their members in time of need. It's goes a long way.
That's what Jesus preached.
You have said the truth. And the truth is many churches in Nigeria are sadly more concerned with collecting tithes and offerings than the welfare of their members, especially those that have little or nothing. When the pandemic started many didn't even care about the health and welfare of their members but insisted on them attending church. The truth will always be revealed. God bless your parish Golibe.
DeleteFor someone paying that huge amount of money for his Tithes and offerings, he should be well known even if the congregation is 2 million people in one auditorium.
ReplyDeletePeople barely pay tithes recently in all churches apart from very few workers and others.
If u are playing a vital role in church services and activities, u will be well missed if absent in just one Sunday.
The church needs our money as much as they need membership too. Let's balance it up in love.
See poverty mentality! Hian
DeleteSee this one?? He should be well known as what?? If he stops paying tithe, will the church fall?? Some of you really make me laugh!!
DeleteDo whatever you want to do into GOD...... That means his paying of tithe is for popularity, unfortunately there are people that pay much more than him!!
Phone numbers are not written on cheques, how did they get his number to call him?
ReplyDeleteThis is another angle.
DeleteThat means he is a notable figure in church . He must be an active member for him to be disappointed.
DeleteBut when the cheque did not go through, they suddenly had his number to call him all through the week? Or didn’t you read that side?? Please read to understand.
DeleteIf he has filled any registration form at anytime in the church, then the church would have his name and phone number. However, if it's a large church, they wouldn't have noticed his absence within just two weeks, especially if he is a Sunday Sunday medicine.
DeleteI worship with winners and we are encouraged to join a service unit and a home cell so that if something is doing you or you are doing something, they will know. My church has over 2k capacity at a sitting so if I fall sick my pastor will never know except I make a call to him. Again, there are people that pay such heavy amount so one persons own may not stand out like that especially in a town like pH. I blame the church if they were aware and didn't call the young man and I will blame the guy if he was just a church goer with belonging to any unit.
ReplyDeleteMost churches don't bother checking on their members, they only care about money
ReplyDeleteWe are The “church”, The Body of Christ who dwells in us through the Holy Spirit. However we are admonished to “not forsake assembling together” , it does not state how often and no technology revelation like the big birds or aircrafts John saw in the book of revelation!
ReplyDeleteRegardless, “we are God’s workmanship, created in Jesus Christ for good works”. Here to me is the takeaway other than the fact that not only is each CHRISTIAN the church but his letter to the world. “Nevertheless the foundation of God stands sure having this seal, God knows THOSE who are HIS, and let everyone that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity”. Those are from the Bible. Depart from sin. God knows his own. He is his own librarian that cannot be corrupted.
The book of life, the book of remembrance, and “the books were opened” in revelation are all under God’s control. Not subject to egunje as we call it in Naija. Know and face your God. Respect everyone but “call no man your father” is in the Bible! Poverty is rising but religion is booming. Something isn’t right there. Know your bible and respect but don’t worship any human being. They can pray just like you but only God can ANSWER prayer!
Shebi you Stella didn’t post my comment. Oya naa chop it well well and your nose go dey grow bigger. Still love you though. It seems you are a chosen member.
ReplyDelete
