    1. Me neither. Nigerian youth don't care this much about education.

    2. I very much believe the story. You may think the Nigerian youth don't care this much about education, but when they are been mocked constantly by their parents and being compared to a mate who lives in the same neighbourhood and probably attends the same school it can very well get to them, which in not time would breed envy and jealousy. With the very fragile ego of the Nigerian youth, thought on how to eliminate the mate who is being loved and adored begins to develop.

If these ones grows up, what manner of evil will they commit if they still have this mindset?

  4. Instead of them to let this inspire them to be better, rather jealous took the better part of them.

It's not east but parents should stop comparing their kids to others and also this attitude of making them look less shouldn't be.

  9. Envious friends.

I think we should stop comparing our kids with others.

Many are being stubbornly stubborn when you compare them.

    They are just bad friends

    1. Exactly. The parents won't try to help. They shout and insult and belittle. Nigerian parents need training on raising children.

  11. Lazy and foolish young men. He could be more intelligent in class, but there are other areas you can excel above him, maybe music, sports etc..that is if the story is true

  12. Sometimes, the parents use their mouths to sow seeds of discord. YOur child cannot always be like timothy. Appreciate what God has given you.
A child might be good in some other ways that isn't academic. All these super eagles players, were they the brilliant stock?
Now, they are taking these kids to court, to be tried; as what -juveniles or adults?
Does NIgeria have a juvenile prison or will they just end up in jail with adults who will tutor them in real criminal enterprise?

  13. All these small kids must have gotten these traits from their parents. If you check well one of the parents must be an envious person because How do we explain this? That was how a rich kid was left to drown despite being nice because his parents were rich.

Well. Why am I not surprised?

When I was in school everyone hated me for that same reason coupled with the compliments I do get for my looks. I would be sitting with friends and people would come over while ignoring my friends and say "sabella you are so brilliant we saw your scores on the board". That most times I didn't even need to go check because people would walk up to me and tell me my grades without checking. Coursemates check my grades before they checked theirs and all these made me have hidden enemies. I got the best student award and someone told me he heard my close friends saying "why sabella? These were friends I did their projects for them and open my papers wide for them during exams. Bad stares everywhere, mumbling here and there. I suddenly became friendless and I realized you are most loved by people when you are a nobody. Nobody wishes you well.

secondary school, Someone said I was beautiful while at the cafeteria with a close friend. Before you knew it words started flying around that I was a prostitute. How could a 14 years old be a prostitute? Who started the rumour? Nobody knew. Till a fight ensued and all secrets came to light. My close friend was the one slandering me. I was broken and asked her what I did to her. She said when I came to school everyone started ignoring her and I took all the attention from her and even her best friend who promised to spend the holiday in her house told her she won't be able to do that anymore because she would be spending it with me and with time she started despising me. So she promised herself she would ruin me. A little girl of 14 years old as at then for we were in secondary school at the time.
I how I hate envious people with a passion. There are some qualities you have that others don't have so I don't understand why you would feel inferior. If People have what you don't I believe that should motivate you to be better.

    1. Sabella, I understand you perfectly. During my undergrad days, I was lured, ambushed by some girls and slapped by the one I used to allow copy answers from me in exam hall.
Coursemates checked my grades ahead of me but just two or three people showed envy.
My own cousin in another faculty was so envious and didn't attend my convocation ceremony saying I made straight As because science courses are not difficult. Well, the same cousin eventually spent an extra year in school.

My JSS, healthy competition, best students in A Classes.
My SSS, science subjects only, requires a special entrance exam for admissions, a pool of the best students from all the schools in the State. Too many brilliant students in one school, who would envy who?

  20. I'm not surprised at all.

Some people can kill just because you smile alot.

Parent should also stop this comparison. Each child has their special traits.

  21. This is what we unintentional do to our kids when we compare them to "their mates". Kids these days just want to win win win, forgetting that failure is not not defeat but a step towards the right direction. The anger some of us use in discussing people we don't approve of, rubs off on our kids. We all want our kids to come first in their various sector, without knowing if they are genuinely working towards achieving that. Let's try to appreciate our kids no matter what..

  22. Parent learn to encourage your children instead of comparing them with there friends.

  25. Things like this will keep happening when we have a generation that so full of envy and strive. We see people progressing or achieve something we link their success to evil things just Because of jealousy. These are people who will raise the next generation.
Even see the previous big brother, we have to have one person we place above another. Sometimes I ask my myself what will happen If A is progressing. Will it stop B from progressing? Or, when we hear that A progresses we either shame or bring b down or we link A’s success to runs or we try to ridicule the person
What we don’t know is indirectly, your kids are watching, they see what do. Unknowingly, you pass your ideologies to the and end up breed another generation full of envy and strive

    1. Thank you jare. Some people here have these same traits of anger, envy and covetousness and think they will train their kids better. No, ma they will sense your negative energy, they will hear you talk on phone or gossip with your friends about hating someone and end up just like you. You cannot pour from an empty cup, you can't give what you don't have. Nigerian girls that are jealous of petty things like someone's fine shoes, fine bags, boyfriend, even the attention their friend gets..

  27. Jesus!!!!!! Timothy it is well with you oo. You will not die untimely.

Parents please stop comparing your children with their friends or people doing better than them academically. They may not be academically brilliant but may even do better than their peers you are comparing them with.
They can be the Amokachi, Drogba, Dangote, etc of tomorrow while the brilliant one will be an academician....all these people I mentioned are all successful but in different field.
